I agree with your last statement, the question is which Islander to buy, not whether to buy one. I purchased their ISL-31 and was literally blown away by it. It is the most "asked about" watch I've ever worn. Even people that never wear watches (other than Fit Bits) have noticed it an made positive remarks! Marc is definitely doing something right and the future of Islander Watches is bright indeed. Nice review! The ISL-66 is gorgeous. That red is amazing.
It is a great watch, I like that dial colour!! I have the ISL-28, so same style with a silver dial and a sapphire grey/orange bezel, and I love the chunky goodness that is the case and bracelet. So true about its wrist presence, one of my favourite watches in the collection. You cannot go wrong with Islanders and Marc is great to work with, an easy top recommend for places to look when you are watch shopping.
Oh yes, I love the look of the ISL-28, very similar to the LE Grey Dawn from Seiko that costed way too much. It definitely has presence, and weight to it as well. Agree about Marc, he runs an excellent business!
This review deserves a like button... in depth and very precise review. I couldn’t decide between the green or the red dial, but after seeing the video, I placed my order and went for the the red dial. Thanks for the help...
Marc (Island Watch) is doing what Seiko should have done. He is so far ahead of Seiko now, he should make the final step and get a better movement, like a respectable European ETA 2824 clone. At that point I would be tempted.
Yes, I know he has used a Miyota 9000 series in at least one of the Islanders, which I prefer to the NH-35/36 (despite the rotor noise). Would be interesting to see if he incorporates any other movements in the future. Would love to see an ETA/Selitta or equivalent in one.
@@JustWatches1 It would be even better if Marc could pick up a thinner movement without the day / date (all it adds is a headache with adjusting time), like Sellita SW300-1 (ETA 2892 clone). According to specs it is only 3.6 mm thick. That could help save at least a couple of mm off the overall thickness of the watch, maybe more. Who needs a chimney growing out of his wrist? I know SW300-1 must be considerably more than NH35/6, I read somewhere in retail it's $300. Don't know what Marc could pick it up for, $200? Maybe less? I could be all wet here, I never tried to build my own watch. Still, add the difference with profit to the price of the watch.
Thank you so much. I have been waiting for a review like this of this isl66. I’m debating between this and the red dial kamasu. Very tempting. Review was informative and concise.
The Kamasu is smaller than the isl66. Isl66's bracelet is better than the Kamasu too. It also seems like the dial of the isl66 is brighter than the Kamasu. If you're worried about size, get the Kamasu.
I agree with Clarence. Better bracelet on the Islander, but it is much bigger. If you are worried about size get the Kamasu, you can always upgrade the bracelet later if you like. If you like a big watch, go for the Islander.
Great review with excellent watch shots, The red islander is def on my want list along with about a half dozen other islanders... You should totally see if Marc will lend you a ISL-67 for review, so far the only video i've seen featuring the ISL-67 is Marcs product launch video, so an in-depth review from you would be welcome! also would like to see you review the ISL-38 or 39 eventually but more so the ISL-67 since theres not much out there on those watches yet. I absolutely love my ISL-28, I modded it with a green ceramic bezel from LIW, a 007 LX bezel from DLW, and finished things off with a strapcode SUB clasp and its everything I wanted it to be!... It instantly became my daily wearer and kinda sad to admit my other watches havent been getting much love/wear time lately... since whenever I open my watch box, I just continually reach for the ISL-28... I've kinda got force myself to wear something else every now and then but convincing myself that its good to let the watch wind down now and then rather then wearing it daily.
I bought a Strapcode Super O hexad for my Seiko King Turtle and I cannot see any differences from that and the bracelet on my ISL-27 and ISL-67. I believe they are the same.
Imagine how this Islander watches would *shine* if they had a cool/proper logo instead of that little circle which makes it look like some cheap company giveaway. Everything else I like.
I know the logo is a major point of controversy, it doesn't bother me, but I do understand why people don't like it. The best criticism I have heard is that it is a picture of a watch on a watch lol
I think it’s simple and while most watch companies mess up the dial with too much writing and I think Long Island co does a great job simple but never mistaken with that one of a kind logo! But just my humble. Opinion.
Too heavy to wear actually. Maybe only for those who really dive. I am selling it back. On the islander website, they don't mention about the weight. Partly to blame myself for not doing enough research before I bought it.
Lume I think is the most overrated part of a watch! They all dim unless your using tritium tubes like my luminox, or my marathon tsar which both use the tritium so I do like lume on watches most are very uneasy to read the further into the night you get or at best after a hour or so you have already lost a lot of the lume!

The ISL-31 looks nice! Agree with your sentiments, and love to see all the new releases from LIW.
All of my Islanders are SUPERB! Marc is killing it!
Marc is very tuned in to what people want. He does a great job!

I'm really happy it helped, please let me know your impressions of the watch when you receive it, I would love to hear them!

Just got my isl-18 and absolutely love it!! Marc is definitely killing it with his Island watch brand 😎
Nice, that one looks awesome! How is that blue dial in person?
@@JustWatches1 It's honestly really impressive!! You definitely need to get one in for review. The pictures don't do it justice
i guess I'm quite randomly asking but does anybody know a good website to watch newly released series online ?
@Atticus Langston i watch on Flixzone. You can find it on google =)
@Alexander Cyrus Yea, I have been using FlixZone for since march myself :)

At present, I personally prefer the Kamasu but not by much. I just got my Depth Charge and THAT is a nice watch.
Beautiful. I too am excited to see where Islander goes. I'll be along for the ride. Sub.
Welcome aboard :)
Great review! Waiting for my ISL-65 to arrive to next week
Nice, let me know how you like it!
Great review. You cannot get better specs. for the money than at Island Watches.
Plus the backing of a company with excellent customer service!

The dial on the ISL-67 looks really cool! Sounds like you really tricked out your ISL-28! It is nice when you find something you always want to wear.
That dial😍😍😍😍😍
It is a really nice dial. Red is an especially fun dial color!
Marc makes nice watches
100% agree!
That'd make a great t-shirt lol
Thanks Jason!
You are most welcome Reeser :)
Nice watch. I have a Samurai and this is a nice homage for far less and gives much more! Good vid. Keep at it!
Thank you for the feedback and for watching. I agree Islander is a great value!
What do you say Jason? This or the red dial kamasu for close to the same $$? My wrist size is same as yours...
If you like a big watch go with the Islander. For my personal taste, I prefer the size of the Kamasu.
I love the watch, however, it is too large for my small 6.5 inch wrist. I bought the Red Monster instead and I am very happy with it.
Great choice! Yes, this watch is a big one.
I own one of these, its amazing. I love it.
Agree. This one is really fun
That bracelet looks identical to a strapcode hexad, which is a perfect match for the samurai, way better than the original seiko bracelet
Oh yes, it is just like that one. I agree it is a perfect match, I really like this bracelet.
@@JustWatches1 I don’t know if strapcode designed it for the samurai but its a great match up and the quality is great too.

tritium tubes > lume for sure, just not on very many watches!
Gosh the logo is bat sh!t terrible tho
I'd stick to the cheapest any other micro brand in the world then get that crap
Many people HATE the logo, but Marc has indicated he likes it and isn't changing it.
