I recently discovered your channel and have been busy catching up on your adventures. I'm Irish, and just like you, I'm slow travelling around the world. At the moment I'm in Transylvania, where surprisingly nobody celebrated Halloween, but the Christmas market is already up and running. I must say it is nice to see life at home from your eyes. You seem like such nice people. I've liked , subscribed and I just want to say thanks for sharing your videos. Keep up the great work!

Well hello! We really really enjoyed Ireland. Your adventure sounds amazing. I don't think it's ever entered my mind to visit Transylvania. Maybe we have to add that to our list. Thanks for the sub and likes!

I bet the t shirts were too small. 😊 American medium size is xxlarge in Ireland. I knew it would happen 😮
    Great Production!!!
I probably recommend stopover in Waterville.

I think this is the best tour segment you’ve done in Ireland. Fantastic scenery and your enthusiasm really comes through. I’d put down roots there!

@@chrisplusmelissa Just last week, I took my wife and our son with special needs on a weeklong bus tour to Ireland and had a fabulous time. My Irish ancestors (per 23 & me) came from the Iveragh Peninsula also known as the "Ring of Kerry". In Waterville, I was told that the area was "crawling with McCarthys which is my family name. I really love your videos and already want to return

Slieve League is the highest sea cliffs on the island of ireland but they are higher cliffs on achill island(infact your arrow pointed to it ) which is connected to the mainland by bridge, but getting to the cliffs is not nearly that easy they can only be seen by a strenuous hike or by boat. They are loads of great cliffs ,but seeing them is not often easy, for example slieve league has only recently been made accessible and even then probably in future the visitor numbers will probably be curtailed as the infrastructure isn't really able to cope with the numbers Cliffs of moher gets.

Slieve League (Sliabh Liag) are not the tallest cliffs in Ireland. This is a little fib told by the tourist board and County Donegal county council. They are in County Donegal, so it's no surprise why the county council would do it. The tourist board do it because they are easily accessible to tourists. Slieve League are indeed taller than the Kerry Cliffs, and are indeed extremely tall, but they aren't Ireland's tallest. Slieve League are 601 metres tall.
Funnily enough your arrow does point to Ireland's tallest sea cliffs, Croaghaun (Cruachán) on Achill Island in County Mayo. Croaghaun is 688 metres tall, significantly taller than Slieve League and the Kerry Cliffs, and they dwarf the Cliffs of Moher. The reason that they aren't promoted as much, is because to see them properly you have to take a boat trip, or hike up a mountain to take a look from the top. It's a bit too much of a workout for most folk just sightseeing.

I noticed to showed the Skelligs in a distance. THAT would have been a climb. You need to book months in advance, but don't worry, you don't pay until you are going out. I would recommend going in May or early June so you can interact with the Puffins. They go back out to sea about mid-June and do not return until March or April of the next year.

    • @chrisplusmelissa

We looked into Skellig and going out there and actually it seemed as if there were spaces, but someone in our duo thought it'd be a bit too scary on the boat ride over. :D They say it can be wavy and you get get wet.

Ok Melissa, girls go on the trail all the time, you can get a go girl for a more male like experience.
There is also the kula cloth, that is used for personal hygiene after and generally clips onto the backpack for air drying after

10:52 - "Poitín" is pronounced "puh-cheen" and as you note is similar to moonshine. Interesting fact: the father of US President JFK, who Ireland likes to claim as its own, Joseph Kennedy, made his initial fortune as a bootlegger in the Prohibition Era; given his father, in turn, was Irish born, You'd wonder where for moonshine the idea came from!!
