Haven't quite finished this story but I find the heroine selfish and stupid for not understanding after hearing the Frenchman and her father speak of killing someone. After what her father had done to her beloved's family, to require him to just live with it with no justice? She only saw what would happen to her and her twin brother.
Very sorry that Althea such a creature of her father!! She lacks empathy, intelligence & morality. Plot seems to lack reality. Althea is apparently breath taking, cunning and self serving. No inner beauty.
I was profoundly annoyed by this as well. I can't believe that on any level she got upset when Dec told her what she herself already knew...when SHE had all the proof to reinforce HIS suspicions. After that point I actually lost interest because everything she did and said thereafter was plain dumb and selfish. I only listened to see how it would end.
He didn't. He left England as a child and grew up between France and St Lucia (in exile). I am hoping that wasn't supposed to be a French accent though. If so, it was badly done. I assumed his travels and growing up in three places left him with a bit of a hybrid accent. 🤷🏾♀️
Am I the only person who wonders why they wouldn't simply remove the pages with the information they don't want to get out and burn it then use the rest of the diary???? That whole part just made me dislike the heroine immensely.
After I listened to more then 90 ab I finally reached a point where I decided not to suffer through a bad narrated book. Sometimes it had been pour agony. So I skiped this book and many others where a male character sounds like a woman. Yet must say I had find the some "bad" narrators sound GOOD in lets say children voices. I wish who ever picks them would have taken this into consideration ❤️
I’m listening to this again after only being able to bear about an hour of it four months ago. I’m now 7 hours in and Alethea is an idiot and an ass! Not to mention, weak, selfish, and spoiled! Is this the way the author is intending to portray this character?!? OMG 7:57:09 are you kidding me right now?!? This has become absolutely ridiculous.
