    I found the fire brick way of drying flowers in the microwave and I LOVE it!! Not ALL flowers work with this way, but most do and it's so much quicker and so far has been the best for me. The cool thing is, if once your flowers are dried, and happen to 'collect' some moisture while you are storing them...just pop them in between the bricks, fabric and nuk them for a few seconds and they are good as before.

    I have the Microfleur and love it, been using it for over 1 yr. and even bought another one. The better way to use it is to take it out in between 'bursts'. Remove the top and bottom and wipe off the moisture from the smooth inside. Replace the clips and microwave again. Each time you need to remove the top and bottom and wipe off the moisture. An easy way to tell if your flowers are totally dry is you won't have any moisture on the lids. The press will not get too hot and the smell will actually be pleasant depending on the flower type if you follow these instructions. Roses laid and pressed on their sides turn out beautiful as well. Have fun with it, you'll start loving it.

      Thanks Julie, I've just received the Microfleur and this info was great. To dry out the moisture from the flat parts in between bursts is an invaluable tip, thanks for sharing!

    SWEET!!! I’ve been debating for months on buying the microfleur. I have seen so many pictures and videos and their flowers always looked awesome. I am having a jealous attack right now over you😉; you are so lucky to have access to some beautiful flowers. Just can’t find those flowers in northern Arizona 😩I think the heart dish is my favorite ❣️Great job on the beautiful pieces!!!

      You can get the same effect using a ceramic plate. Just put your flowers in a piece of paper folded in half and then wrap that in a paper towel and then place the plate on top of that inside the microwave. Using intervals of 30 seconds at a time.

    Long ago in college after Horticulture class outing I’d take 2 phonebooks (waaaay back) to press & microwave specimens 5 seconds each in turns, while opening the other one to let the steam out. Took several turns, but since each phonebooks can have 3 layers about 1” apart, lots get dried to a crisps pretty quickly. 30 seconds in microwave is too long, cooked plants are more fragile.

  • @jesslesinski
    @jesslesinski 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I did this a few years ago with a bouquet of red roses that my husband bought me, but I just used two plates and some paper towels. I found that my flowers became discolored in the microwave (I knew exactly what smell you were talking about, too lol) but yours seemed ok. It seems like drying them out with the pellets is a better way to go, but that’s just me.

    When i found this product i immediately thought of you, I see i am about a year late! lol... overall it's a good product for smaller flowers but for larger "bulkier" peonies or cabbage roses, i think the method you use is so much better, unless you need them to be completely flattened. As always enjoy your videos so much!

    So do you just keep going until they’re no longer moist? I did mine for the recommended amount of time and they still came out sticking to the paper. I’m so worried about burning them!

    • @notgoodatexplaining
      @notgoodatexplaining 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can tell when they are no longer moist when you take off the outside(brown part) and there is no water. If you are afraid of ruining the flower, you can take them out if they are slightly damp and place them in a heavy book for 1-2 days. Make sure to place a paper towel or parchment paper between the flower and book papers so it doesn’t stick together. Hope this helps:)

    I love them all, but the heart dish is my favourite. I'm learning a lot from you. I'm working on a crazy project myself. I was born with Moderate-Severe Cerebral Palsy plus complications, but I praise YAHUSHUA HA'MOSHIACH ELOHIYM for giving me 173 I.Q. ( some scientist's think it you're born disabled and brain damaged that you have no intellect. To confound these people; he made me a real princess with an I.Q. higher than the 25 year old scientist that said we have no right to live and I have Aspergers Syndrome). I have a form of Autism. There is a chap here more severely disabled but very intelligent and likes shiny ,smooth surfaces. I'm making something interesting that I will put on my channel when I'm done. The Aspergers makes me very creative and it helps me to help others. As, I came close to be like Scout( not his real name for his protection) . So, I feel a connection to him and can pick up his thoughts and feelings. I'm an empathetic-telepath. I pick up emotions that then form 📷pictures like a camera creating a 🎥 moving image in my mind. I don't have background noise in my brain ,so it has inspired this project. Something he has been wanting ,after seeing a film or going someplace to see like a disco sphere of mirror ball which I want to do in resin ball ,as an experiment.

  • @butterflyforeve

    You should try drying the flowers but adding a dye to the petals 1st and seeing if you can change the color of the petals as they dry. Does that make sense? Also do some of those very colorful Daisy's

    Very pretty. I like the yellow ones (simply because that's my favorite color). I don't have a frickin microwave. Will a regular one do? Just kidding. I don't use waves, and will just stick to using big books. Stopped at the Goodwill today and picked up a big dictionary. My daughter said I could borrow a couple of her encyclopedias. I said, "uh no, they're ruin the pages." : ) Can't beat $1. for the big book.

    The video edit at 1:23 with the flower sitting there while you prep in the background was absolutely brilliant really appreciated that extra effort, it was wonderful to watch💕 The flowers came out pretty good. 🌿🥀🌺🌻🌷🌼🌹🌸
