    I recently bought one of these dispite watching your review. In my opinion, for $200 you’re not going to find anything better that’s new. I bought it for outdoor movies in the backyard and it works great for that. But I do agree with you, they’re misleading people, as these companies often do, on the brightness. I hate that they have to do that to make something look better than it is.

      @mitchcox  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Why? I showed you how dim it is, how you have to have it completely even with the screen, showed you how it looks inside. Showed you how terrible the keystone was. How blurry the edges of the screen are. Said the speakers were good, liked the high powered USB port, etc. what information did I leave out that you were looking for?

    • @mitchcox
      @mitchcox  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If you think this is incredible, you have never had a name brand projector. Once you own one of those, you can’t settle for something like this. I understand if this is the only experience you have with projectors you may think that this is good. But once you have seen what a real projector should look like, you won’t settle for this.

    • @PrestonVenzant
      @PrestonVenzant 5 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      It's $212. Compare it to what it's designed for. It's a cheap projector and for that price it's good. It's for night viewing. And you don't have to buy a new lamp every year. I use it every day as a TV. 8 hours a day. 130 inches every day for $212. And it will last ten years. Using a top of the line projector for that amount of time will cost you a small fortune. That's why it's incredible.

      I am thrilled that you are happy with your Vankyo. I was disappointed. I felt misled by the advertised 5000 LUX term and didn’t like how the company refused to tell me the lumens when i contacted them. An 11 yr old projector is brighter. It was advertised as super bright. To me and what I wanted it for it was not bright. I tried to demonstrate its features and where I felt it fell short. I said it wasn’t going to work for me and what I needed it for. There are a lot worse videos out there. A lot of “Paid” reviews too, people sent free products to make positive reviews. Mine is my honest opinion. I don’t expect everyone to agree. But hopefully it will help viewers determine if it will work for their situation. It’s ok if you don’t agree. I am glad you are happy with yours. Doesn’t make you wrong or me wrong. Just different people, different use environments, different opinions. Good talking to you and I hope you enjoy your V600 for many years to come. I’ll stick with my Epson. It makes me happy and works for my back deck theater. Watching the NFL game on it now. Turning out to be a good game too!! Take care.

      I didn't mean to troll you. Sorry about that. But i did my research and it is among the best LED units. I agree about the screw. I agree about the edges. I agree with what you didn't like about it. I just thought the long daylight comparison to be unfair as the unit is not designed for that. And yes, most of the cheaper units use lux as a selling point. It does not compare to lumens. Just like lumens does not compare to ANSI lumens. You really have to do your research. But i apologize for the trolling. Peace to you and keep getting better.

    I have this projector hanging from my ceiling and I have the same issue with focus. I thought I had my measurements off, or my screen wasn’t square and it’s a nice screen from silver ticket. No matter what I do the bottom right corner is blurry. Glad to see it’s the projector and not something I did wrong with set up. Think I’m gonna save up and replace it with a nice Epson or BenQ.

    • @mitchcox
      @mitchcox  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree with you 100%. It’s the projector. It’s not a terrible projector for someone’s first projector. But if you have ever seen/used a name brand projector you see how much better the Brightness, focus, keystone, angle adjustment, picture tuning, colors, etc are and should be. You see all the ways this Vankyo falls short. I spent less on a used Epson with 4600 true lumens, over this new Vankyo that has maybe 1200 lumens. The Epson is a few years old and still dominates this Vankyo. Good luck on your projector search.

      When it is advertised as super bright and fooling people with 5000 LUX numbers. I expected it to be super bright. It is not as advertised. Also I proved that a bright projector can be seen out there. The Vankyo is not as bright as a $35 11 year old projector. I expected better for a 2019 projector.

    The main advantage I see of the new one over your 11yo one is the new one is LED and the lamp will last 50,000 hours where the old one only lasts 3-4,000 hours. I had projectors from 2006-2014 but finally got tired of replacing lamps.
    I think I'll pick this up and I'll just make a shelf on the back wall so it can sit flat and I have a dark basement I'll use it in with 5.1 surround
    The last projector I owned was a Mitsubishi and back in 2007 that was a quality one but I'm willing to give this budget model a try as I know the tricks to make it look better.

    • @mitchcox
      @mitchcox  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      My biggest point was this projector is falsely advertised as super bright. It is not. A $30 11 year old projector outshines this V600. Yes. The new one has features that the old one doesn’t but when the company advertises 5000 LUX they are fooling buyers into thinking they are getting a super bright projector. It has good color in a darker room. Just has too many negatives for me to recommend it at $250. Maybe at $150. You can get a used Epson on eBay with all the features of this one and 3X brighter for under $250. Except it won’t be LED.

    Infocus one of the best brand name projectors less than 10 years ago that cost over $500 "I own one but 2012 model" vs a cheap modern projector makes sense lol you can't really do a good name brand vs generic its like comparing a Mercedes to a Yugo, apples to oranges cheap is cheap personally just save up and buy a projector for over $1500 for a 4k and over $500 for a 1080P its worth it!

      Yes. You are further supporting my point of view. You can buy a used older name brand projector and get a better quality projector (brighter, better picture, more features, etc) than wasting your money on these new LED no name projectors. I spent less on a used Epson that I can clearly watch outside during the day. 1080p etc. Not even fair to compare but I paid less for it than this Vankyo. Just trying to let people know. • @mitchcox
      @mitchcox  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really depends on what environment you are using it in. If the room is completely dark and you can mount your projector straight in line with the screen, and you want LED, then the Vankyo may be what you want. If you are wanting to sit it on a table and aim it up on the wall similar to what I was doing on my deck, then you want to go with a name brand projector that has a good Keystone adjustment. The Vankyo does NOT. You won’t be able to get a clear picture out of the Vankyo. It will be in focus in the center and then the edges will be blurry. Enough to bother me. I bought a used epson off eBay for $200 and am thrilled with it. Excellent Keystone adjustment and high brightness. Can watch a movie during the day outside. It’s not LED but I think it will last me longer than the cheap LED projector will.

      The best projector to get in my opinion is the Aaxa p7 at $400. Its bright in a dark room or at night outside and has a full 1080p resolution. The speaker is weak so you should just plug in a bluetooth speaker, plug in some headphones, etc. It has 400 lumens when on battery power and 600 lumens when running plugged in. It does get rather loud when turned onto the 600 lumen setting if I remember correctly, but thats perfectly fine if you use noise cancelling headphones or don’t mind the sound of a fan (similar to running a fan on a hot day). I upgraded to the aaxa 4k1 to get a 4k picture. This is a $1,000 projector so it is out of the range of the $300 you have requested.

I would say this is comparable to the Vankyo. Maybe 1200 lumens max!! I would pass on any of these no name LED projectors. They are way overpriced for what they offer. These shouldn’t be selling for more than $100-$150. Its just my opinion. I bought a used Epson off eBay that is 10x better for less money.

    Thanks for the clip. I bought one last week and ran into the same issue of Keystone problem; projector must be set high almost 100% perpendicular with the screen. This can be annoying. Projector output does look bright in a completely dark room. On the other hand I found the fan noisy.
    I contacted "Vankyo" about the keystone adjustment. They were very responsive but their tech keeps coming up with explanation that made no sense to me. For $250 range, it is a good and reasonable projector but not for me. I'm willing to pay more to buy a more bright projector with functional keystone and less fan noise.

It appears they are falsely advertising the lumens again. Saying it is 4200. But one of the answers to the question of how many lumens. Someone answers about 1000. So I think the f40 will probably disappoint in the brightness due to them falsely advertising and inflating their lumen count in order to get sales. I would stay away from it. You are welcome. I am glad you appreciate my video. I still recommend a used name brand over this. It won’t be LED but the performance out of the used name brand blows this thing away. Take care and stay safe.

      Oh My. No no no. Not anywhere close. So misleading and falsely advertised. Don’t fall for it. I hope my video helped you decide to keep looking for something better. It may be 1500 lumens and that may be generous.

      Did you see the 10 yr old projector is brighter? This projector was advertised as bright 6000LUx. They used LUX To trick you. I just showed that it is not as bright as a 2000 lumen 10 yr old projector.

      With the brightness they falsely advertised. It should have been fine. I was proving a point that it is way under the advertised lumens.

    20 minutes of incessant repetition and rambling - could easily be preseted in 3 minutes. To be fair, projectors work best in the dark. Why waste our time? Why not set the thing up at its best and then turn camera on and then briefly telling the effort to so set up- pros & cons .

    • @mitchcox

      I was showing it was not as bright as advertised. One with the advertised lumens could be seen in those conditions. This one could not be and was no where near as bright as advertised.

    So, you read Lux and thought they meant Lumen???
    You do understand that Lux is a measurement for brightness, right?
    Also, you do understand that comparing a 2008 Cadillac vs a 2019 Nissan Versa is not a fair fight . . .
    You got a bad case of buyer's remorse, dude.
    Truth of the matter is the Vankyo V600 is just about the best unit under $250.
    But you are correct.
    You can't watch it in daylight . . .

    • @mitchcox
      @mitchcox  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. Their original listing stated 6000 Lumens. Actually. I just checked it now. Under details. Still lists 6000 lumens. So not getting what is advertised is not buyers remorse, it’s false advertising. Brightness aside. The keystone adjustment on this is awful. It is not digital and you end up with blurred corners. Had it been as bright as they still advertise it to be. I would have been happy with it. But advertising it as 6000 and it ends up being more like 1000, no thanks.

      @@mitchcox Okay . . .
      I just watched your entire vid, again.
      Nowhere do I see proof that the Vankyo is not 6000 lumen.
      Also, there is no proof for the lumen rating of your comparison projector.
      This is just 1 of the reasons why you have so many 'down votes'.
      Your other projector uses old-scholl bulbs, and who knows how many times the bulbs have been replaced, as well as whether they replaced it with a higher wattage bulb . . .
      Also, these projectors are designed to give the owner a, 'Movie Theater Experience'.
      So, how many theaters have you gone to, where the movie projector was on a table on the floor of the theater?
      Yes, the projector should be raised to a point, midway to the screen, just like a movie theater.
      This is why people buy 'Projector Stands'.
      Then the Keystone adjustment you were having such a hard time with, works perfectly, and the entire screen is in focus.
      Also, during your vid, you didn't go into the projector menu for adjusting screen-size, sharpness, contrast, etc . . .
      And, there is also an adjustment for screen Brightness.
      I have used the Vankyo over the weekend, watching 3 movies, a number of TV shows and a concert.
      After dialing in all the picture settings, I had none of the issues you experienced.
      And that is because you were using the unit, incorrectly.

    • @mitchcox
      @mitchcox  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am happy you are happy with it. I was hoping to be. I was not using it incorrectly. It did not live up to its advertised features. The main reason I bought it was due to it being advertised as 6000 lumens. It is not anywhere near that. The two other projectors were clearly brighter. I also had the brightness all the way up. Still not as bright as the other two projectors. Had it been even half the lumens they advertised, it would have worked for me. But it’s not. Also the blurred corners with the keystone adjustment has been noticed by many others in the comments and also the amazon reviews. Not just me. My main issue was the brightness. False advertising is the fault of the seller, not the buyer. Again. I am happy you are happy with yours.

    And that projector has a lifetime warranty.

    • @mitchcox
      @mitchcox  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also. I can tell by the pictures in the amazon listing that it is no where near 6K lumens. Also it appears to have the same issues with blurry edges and it needing to be mounted perfectly horizontal with the screen. It’s essentially a Vankyo v600 in a different shell. Most of these no name LEDs are all made by the same company just different names on the shell.

      Ha ha. If you have ever used ANY Name Brand projectors you will realize every complaint I have is legit. If not. I see how your knowledge is limited. Doesn’t mean I am wrong. Also. How about helping people with suggestions and trying to be nice to people instead of talking down to them to make yourself feel better about your own incompetencies.
