We had an app that we just had to scan the QR code on the front window of every business we visited so that if a covid case came up at the same time you were there you’d know to look for symptoms

You got to remember though that in Oz we had so many less deaths per capita than the US. Also as an older guy I'm happy that I've never caught it. QR codes, masks and vaccinations may have been inconvenient but it worked for me.

Getting used to walking to get into the "wrong" side of the car was a challenge for me as well as walking on the other side of the footpath (side walk). I had an experience driving down a street on the wrong side for 10 seconds on a Sunday when I was on the left side - there were no cars thankfully.

the covid qr code scanning thing was new to everyone haha, not just expats.
i had the same issue with figuring out traffic as a pedestrian when I lived in Canada. you don't realise how programmed your brain is to expect traffic to be coming from a particular direction until you're in a country where everything is opposite and you're trying to cross roads safely and catch buses etc haha.
oh and supermarket products too - you do really need to read all the labels to try to find items similar to what you're used to at home and decipher the different terminology used (e.g. our milks are labelled like full fat, low fat, skim instead of the percentage of fat).

QR code was new to everyone. When I went to the US, I got an uber to take from the airport to the hotel, and then proceeded to jump in the passenger seat Oz style, the driver thought that hilarious. 😅

The QR codes is the method to help us become comfortable with centralised digital currency.
