I remember hiking in France during the wild boar hunting season and wearing orange-I couldn’t relax much on the hike! 🤣 Whenever I solo backpack and camp the biggest difference is that I’m constantly checking on navigation whereas I do this much less in a group. Looks a fab trail and campsite! Enjoyed the video-have subbed 👍 Happy New Year! 🌟
Thanks Jack! It was a different experience for me but I still enjoyed it. I'm used to going with people so it took a little getting used to, but really starting to like it! Hope you enjoy!
Thanks! See quite a few UP videos on your channel, I’ll be sure to check some of these out! Ever since my Pictured Rocks trip I’ve wanted to get back up there.
Matt, good for you to check out this trail. Looks exciting. Honestly, I check and double check my gear list, but once I hit the trail I just lean in and enjoy the adventure. Stay on the path! Monk
Another great video Matt! We will add that trail to the “DBT to hike” list...;). Some people take the little sample size for condiments, Matt brings the whole bottle of Tabasco! 🤣 DBT is hoping to get in the woods in a couple of weeks! Did you see our Challenge video from last month? We’re your ears burning? We were talking about you at Lake Vesuvius...
(Molly here with Bohemian Adventurers) loved to video! Curious what the low temps were overnight and what sleeping pad/sleeping bag you were using? We visited the UP earlier this fall, but your video makes me wanna check out the rest of MI! Enjoyed the content, the advocacy of hunter/hunting awareness, and the warning of douchy mountain bikers 😂🤣😅
Thanks and glad you enjoyed! Temps got down to 25 overnight and as for sleep system I have the Therm-a-rest Neoair xlite and a 20 degree down quilt. Where in the UP did you go? I’ve only been to Pictured Rocks and it was amazing. Would love to get back up there soon!
We were camping around Marquette. We wanted to make Pictured Rocks, but the weeks’ weather was beautiful, and the tourists were FLOCKING. Our personal style... we preferred to skip the chaos and lay low in the woods! I have a 20 degree bag, but I’m in north central MN and last weekend it proved to not be warm enough! 🥶

Hiking in France, that sounds incredible! Glad you enjoyed and thanks for watching, happy new year!
A hunting limb pruning saw is lighter and pretty effective for making some firewood. Also much safer in the dark.. . .
Yea I was on the fence about getting a saw or an axe. I may still end up trying out a saw, the axe didn’t work super well and it’s rather heavy.
Looking good Matt! I have been watching your channel lately, and it's great stuff. I appreciate watching your love of hiking.
Hey, thanks Aaron! Really appreciate that! Glad you enjoy it and hope all is well!!
Nice video, man... Looks like you had a great trip.
Thanks, appreciate it!
Nice video, looking forward to doing my first overnight backpacking trip.

This looks like a dope trail bro! Maybe we can hit it up in the spring!
Yea there are a few nice trails up there, def want to go check them out!
Nice! Maybe someday we'll hook up for a hike in Michigan.

Thanks for checking out the video! I’m with you on double checking the gear list! For some reason I always still feel like I’m missing something 😀
I’m new to backpacking, but I have only done solo so I don’t know if I’m more paranoid. I just make sure I have the big things. Also I research a ton.
Research is key! I’m always worried about forgetting to pack something!!
