In this version Director Chris White sits down with Ryan Hardy as they break down what was happening behind the scenes. The band is back together as they are now also working on Tension 11!
The new audio of the 'Directors Cut' makes the original Tension a new experience for everyone - we find out which antics led to arrests, why some people really need Panadol and how #tension impacted Hardy's career and much more.
TENSION is the first installment of the infamous Tension Series, which comprised of 10 movies. The series gained notoriety from 2000-2007 as it combined practical jokes with #bodyboarding With the rebellious edge to the movies they became cult classics, transcending the surfing world and making world wide news featuring on shows like A Current Affair and Today Tonight.
Tension became an iconic era in bodyboarding history and Chris and Ryan guide you through the original vision with a modern take. Two decades on and Hardy reveals that his profile in Tension was his first 'major' section and 'still to this day, one of my favourites'. They also discus other pivotal moments which may have laid foundations for bodyboarders and surfers to unite.

13 Minutes dead on in, When Hardy mentioned that he surfed Gas the most, I find it entertaining that back in that era, riptide magazine had a competition going, if you won, you got to score a surf session with Hardy. Well one pretty meh Morning, My mate Gav and I drove down from Bunno and checked a couple spots on the way down ( I relied on Gav as he was much better on the Boog than me and could read surf conditions better ). We popped into Prevally to check rivermouth and see if Box was working ( I still have never caught a wave at Box, I've paddled out and watched but knew it was beyond my talent then, and my fitness now ). So the next obvious spot to check is Gas and Boodj, we walked down with our board bags, as I was getting on and we thought we wouldn't find anywhere better, and to our surprise only one guy out at Gas and noone out for the first bit of Boodj, Gav paddled staright out at Gas and I played on a little ramp just south of Gas for about 20 mins, then paddled up to see how Gav was doing. He had just scored a wicked little slabby one, and was paddling out from it, and said " Dude, that's Hardy out there! " the rest of the sesh was fun, comedic ( I totally kooked out taking off as Hardy was paddling out watching me and drew my bottom turn out too wide and late, got lipped in the head and had a super fast scenic tour of the reef inches from my face ). When I paddled back out he joked saying " You do know you have to turn when you get to the bottom of the wave right?" Out of all the Sporting legends I've met through my life, Hardy was hands down the most Humble, Friendly, Engaging and Down to Earth guy I had met. I think either that session was just before or just after the infamous Tahiti Skins Tournament he dominated, with that unforgettable spin in the guts of Chopes. I am and will always be a massive fan of Hardy. Btw Chris, is there anywhere I can find that insane clip of Virtue Backdooring Shipsterns? I've been looking for years and still haven't found it.

Haha thanks for the story, yeah Hardy is the man hey! I think you might have Virtue or Shipies mistaken cos I don’t think he ever made it down that way - I could be wrong but that would explain why you’ve never seen it. He got a massive one at the Right that was on a Riptide cover, which is probably on the movie Draw. 🤙🏾
