Bought one of these 3 weeks ago. Do around 60,000 km per year...much on road and much very rough bush driving. It handles both very well. Very happy with my purchase. Value for money in my book.

I bought Feb 2021 GX model. Love it worth it. Official fuel consumption is 3.8L/100km. Mine shows 3.7L
Fill up the fuel once a month. Can go 800km full tank.
Paid $31,000 drive away. Best and cheapest Hybrid SUV to me.

Good review, thanks! I purchased one of these 6 weeks ago and still very happy with my decision. With all cars at this price point there is always some compromise to be made, so while narrow rear doors, old fashioned and cheapish seat materials, and some road noise when gunning that engine are downsides, the plus factors hugely outweigh this. They are, in my view, great fuel economy (unusually, this car is more economical around town than on the highway, and 90% of our driving of this car will be in town), a well sorted ride and handling, more low speed oomph than the figures would suggest, and a comprehensive safety system that is unbeaten in this class of vehicle. Others will have different priorities, but for me it’s great!

We are in the UK and aim to get the new Yaris Cross in 2022 for my wife. I’m a big Toyota fan had the original RAV4 permanent 4 WD. Then got RAV 4 FWD Hybrid with dual gearbox, great for going through floods and change down fast. Now got the latest model, love it but hardly driven due to Covid 19 lockdown. Had to have new battery located in boot replaced due to under use. However, Toyota did replace the battery free of charge. Good Customer Care in the UK.😀

    • @pipbruce
      @pipbruce 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

@@niemanickurwa just keeps getting better! To my earlier list of pluses, I would now add: comfortable seats for long distance driving, low road noise (unless accelerating very hard), good driving position, and the great planet-saving feeling every time it slips into its silent EV mode. (Yes, I know, it is having almost no effect on the planet whatsoever but it still feels good!). On the negative side, if you are driving up a hill with 4 adults inside, you don’t want to be in a hurry. For us as empty nesters with only the occasional grandchild in tow, that’s never a problem. But the major plus is that both my wife and I are very happy with it and this is the first car over many years of marriage that has overcome that particular hurdle! Well done, Toyota.

We did 3000km in WA at a cost of $100. It ran flawlessly. It hasn’t got a whole lot of power but it’s a Yaris. Storage in the boot was good enough. My only beef was that it would grade my driving.

I had this car for over 2 months now. I like it saves huge amounts of fuel and it is easy to handle too. The downsides are that storage is not a lot, pockets on both sides of the doors are too deep that you can hardly retrieve what you put in there. Also, there is no interior light for rear passenger.

I don’t know if I’m an anomaly but I really wished car makers integrated their infotainment screens a bit more seamlessly into the dash. These floating screens really look like one of those early 2000s aftermarket screens people plonked on their dashboards. It’s not attractive at all.

My old man bought a Toyota Corona new in 1977, My first car was a 1981 corrolla van I bought used in 1987, my wife has owned two corrollas and is currently driving a 2011 'sport', I have owned three Diesel Hi Lux's 4x4's and currently own a V6 4x2 Hi Lux and finally,, my company car is a 2018 Yaris which is really cumfy and nice to drive. I can safely say, that mechanically, Toyotas are brilliant, just keep servicing them and they will just keep going. We have never sat on the side of the road waiting for Road Side assistance.. I mean, car companys these days really like to do the hard sell on the ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE thing..? like it's a sure bet your precious Korean or European piece of crap IS in fact.. going to break down..?? If I was cashed up, I would by the Yaris for wifey, simply on the strength that it's a Toyota, I don't even give a shit about the Bells and Whistle's.

Had difficulty in setting cruise control on my GXL 2021 model hybrid. Engine is noisy when accelerating up to higher speeds. Does not like bumps & humps on the road and small pot holes. Seat belt is difficult to get at when putting it on in the drivers seat. Instrument panel behind steering wheel is difficult to see when driving

Paul, love your reviews but I must give you a quick physics lesson regarding your incorrect statements made in this video.
The energy a car uses as it gains speed is proportional to the square of its velocity (look up the formula for kinetic energy of a moving body), therefore as a car gets faster it takes more energy to gain additional speed not less as you said in your video. The example you give about the box is completely erroneous because in that case there is a large amount of static friction between the box and the floor, and a hard push is required to overcome this. Once it is overcome the dynamic friction is a lot less so the box will feel easier to push. There is not a lot of static friction with a car as it rolls on bearings. The effort required to get it moving is due to its mass only. And once moving it takes greater and greater energy to increase the speed. Look at the 0 to 50kph time for any car and then look at the 0 to 100kph time. The addition 50kph takes much longer than 2x the 0 to 50kph time. If your theory was correct it would take less.
Hybrid cars accelerate well because of the torque of the electric motor is available immediately and therefore they have good low down power. This electric power is less evident as the ICE spools up and produces greater amount of power.
    Keep up the good work.
    Thanks
    Terry

Thanks for your review - you mentioned a 24 hour test drive - is that something dealers generally allow these days? im thinking of buying a Mazda 3 Astina Hatch in Manuel - are you aware of a 24 hour test drive with Mazda Dealers in Sydney?

Like the Yaris, designed for Europe, by Toyota's French studio. I suppose they expect the Corolla Cross to be more appreciated elsewhere.

While I have to say this a very good review I once again wonder since you Brits luckily have adopted the metric system, WHY DON´T YOU GO ALL THE WAY and drop these antiquated MPG and miles units?? Are you using gallons on a daily basis for liquids? Or miles? So what´s the problem?
