Okay, reading this fanfic of VegasPete, as I'm reading it, these lines really got to me.
"Vegas used to be a monster. For that reason, he also knew very well how to recognize them. Vegas felt his emotions full-force all his life. When he was angry, he caused destruction and pain. When he was sad, he cried until his throat burned and his eyes swelled. When he was happy, he was exceedingly loud and boisterous. Because of this constant externalization, he had never had to conquer the task of bottling things up- of keeping his emotions out of others’ way.
Pete, on the other hand, had the opposite experience. He spent so much of his life just trying to survive- to avoid his father’s abuse, to do well in school and escape his grandparents’ rural village, to make a living so he could repay his grandparents for all they’d done for him. Where, in there, would he have had the luxury of being able to just feel? He wouldn’t. He didn’t.
Vegas and Pete had worked so hard as a mated pair to create the stability they never had. And they’d actually been successful! Against all odds! They'd built an island of calm over stormy seas. This calm had, in turn, provided fertile ground for the darkness in Pete to finally take root. The time Pete spent in darkness, waiting for his eyes to heal, for his vision to return, forced Pete into a corner in his mind. The omega was a ticking time bomb- a little liquor, and he’d been detonated. The monster in Pete had been let loose."
I realized what they wrote is true. Pete is really the one who bottled up his emotions all his life. All his life, all Pete did was always trying to survive and escape from his father's abuse and entered the Mafia World to repay his grandparents or just grandmother for what they've done to him. Then when he joined the mafia world, he worked himself as a bodyguard, and as a job of a bodyguard, he has to service under the boss. Do what the bosses tell him to do as they order, so that makes Pete unable to express his emotions out. So he had to bottle them up.
Vegas, on the other hand, expressed his anger and pain through inflicting them on others. He expressed them outwardly on full-foce. So he really didn't have to conquer the task of bottling things up.
