Good morning Sir Please advise who is responsible for testing the soil that is good for building and making sure that the strength used when casting its correct???
The architect studys the soil during the pre site visit and gives recommendations to the contractor on the building methods to be used on the particular type of soil. On the strength of concrete when casting, that's the role of the contractor to ensure the correct ratios of materials are used
Mr Architect, it's not your job to make sure that the project is on budget, I think you got it wrong. You almost acridited all the jobs of the other professionals such as the Quantity surveyor (QS), Construction manager (CM) etc to your self which is not the case in the construction industry. As an architect you have just little to do on finance and budget as well as the project management. Also, it's not always the case that an architect is the leader of the construction team. We usually have the consultancy team and the construction team, and in most cases the project manager is always the team leader who usually comes from the contractor side of the devide. Besides, even within the consultancy level, the structural engineer can raise queries on the buildability of a proposed design by an architect. And some times the architect may have no option but to make changes on the design to suit what the structural engineer thinks it's buildable.
The architect coordinates the matters of the design consultants. He is the lead consultant.
Quite Insightful Arch. Stevo.
