She was never going to South Carolina anyways as much as you wanted to hope she likes the West Coast. Pretty sure USC was her top choice all along.

@@koolhandduke4087 there not the only ones who will get respect UConn if they can finally stay healthy will be strong. Pun unintended. They did go to final 4 with basically6 players this year. Everybody here on the west coast had Kiki pegged for USC. If and that’s a big if but if Beers goes to UConn that solves all there big problems as far as having bigs and depth at the position. Because Jana is going to be a really good player. Again if healthy. People better not sleep on Notre Dame either. Not only do they have Hildago but they have freshman of the year from the year before in Miller coming back. That may prove to be the best 1-2 guard position out of any team. I said may before folks jump out of there skin. I realize Pao Pao and Fulwiley Paige and Azzi or whoever Paige plays with. They are guard heavy now that Chen joins shade KK and the incoming freshman. Texas is right there LSU picked up a couple of good ones in the portal. Duke is improved with there portal pick up and there freshman class. Not counting out Ohio st. They got a couple good ones in the portal. We will see now that SC is in the big ten. Also there is not 2 USC’s SC is Southern California Trojans. They won the battle in court making it so university of South Carolina can no longer use the interlocking SC on there branding that’s why they are USC as of 2023. As So. Cal. Can no longer brand the USC on ther team uniforms. Confusing I know. But that’s why they went to court. Stupid but you can now take splice that there is only 1 USC not 2 as far as branding team gear goes. I am a UConn fan but love the woman’s college game always have. Much respect to what Dawn has done for that program building it from nothing the same as Geno did at UConn. Two great coaches who helped build the woman’s game to where it is today. Dawn at least shows class when addressing media always thought she is right on praising players from both sides in wins and losses. Mulkey could use some of that class. But all and all looking forward to another year of great college play.

Said again and again she was staying in California. That’s one. Second, once again USC does not have the number recruiting class as it is about quality not volume.
UConn has the unanimous number one recruit in Sarah Strong as every recruiting site from Max Prep to ProspectsNation to Hoopgurlz has her one. Then add Ziebell at 7 and Cheli at 11, plus the red shirt freshman Jana El Alfy and UConn has the clear number one class as even without Jena they are number one.
Third, UConn with just seven players made it to the FF, beating the Trojans 80-73 along the way. They won with four freshman. With a full roster-unstoppable.
The Huskies are returning six players (three starters ) plus the number one recruiting class plus Kaitlin Chen who just committed to UConn.
Finally, the Huskies have Paige Bueckers and you don’t as not even Juju is a not Paige Beuckers-no one is.

Second, the same scout sites say that USC has the #1 class are the same ones that ranked Strong the #1 player. You'd have to take that quality vs quantity battle up with them, but if their ranking counts for Strong, we have to use their ranking when it comes to overall classes.
Paige is Paige, but JuJu is her. She was the Naismith runner-up as a freshie, Paige was out there. She was available for voting. Edwards the difference - last time they met, Paige had the player that was weeks away from being a lottery pick on her side. This time, Juju will.

Now add Azzi Fudd (you do know Azzi, right) Caroline Ducharme, Aubrey Griffin, all returning starters missing from last year plus their 6’5” starting center, Jana El Alfy also missing from last year, throw in Strong plus Chen, not to mention their long bench and there is no team going to touch them.
Plus Paige was returning from a major injury, still was not her 100 percent self yet good enough to be 1st team AA and will be 100 percent next year for the 1st time in three years as even she admitted that fatigue got to her at the end of the season. Next year she will be back to that level by herself when she was Women Athlete of the Year, amateur or professional. Juju never came close to that level.
People just forget how good Paige was as a freshman - they will remember next year.

Getting them both signed before they could even leave the building is a win. They run such a pro style offense that idk how well a paint eater would work for them. Having bigs that space the floor should work out well for them. Now Timea, that’s a different story but, we could’ve got nobody so I’m beyond pleased with who wanted to come

this isn't a one yr build, this has been a build-up right on the schedule of what Coach Gottlieb typically does. She turned them around and got them into the tourney even before JuJu arrived.
Everybody starts the year fresh, new faces, new roles. Some more new than others, but still, every season has its own challenges and quirks. There's some players that averaged 5 or 8 points last season that will average 16 next season that we don't even see coming.
Angel transferred to LSU and it didn't take time t get it done. It's a combination of having the talent, attrition, players and teams getting hot/cold at the right or wrong time, and a bit of luck to win it all. There's a reason nobody can get a bracket filled out right. May the best/healthiest/luckiest team win lol

I think South Carolina has perfected ensuring 80% of those factors are NOT wildcards.
They keep their top local 5 stars.
They are crystal clear about their culture, how playing time works and what the standard is
Dawn has learned to pivot quickly by adapting her coaching style in creating a container of safety and trust and from there allowing the players to be themselves.
She also has evolved away from bully ball and only 2 dynamic guards.
Also. She tries not to overdo the portal and plays a tough non-conference schedule

ALL significant or deep runs in the tourney
I’d like to see Zudc stay healthy but adding new players, changing conferences may be tough toad when South Carolina goes 10 deep in a very tough conference

@@carlstokes9834 respect! Coach Lindsay has a history of turning teams around fast, and taking them a lot farther than they've been in recent history. ALready laying that same foundation of keeping the local 5 stars. Rayah Marshall was being interviewed by Gilbert Arenas and compared to KD as a 5 star. Stayed. Back to back State POYs in Watkins and Smith. Out of the tourney year 1, in the next, took freshman and grad transfer-led team to the 8 on yr 3, and got two of them into the league when they weren't projected to be pre-season. She just got in the kitchen but the smell is starting to waft into the living room lol. Good luck to you guys as well
