I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I've been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I've qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.
I haven't caught a bass in over 2 weeks here in SoCal; been catching trout on....

I've heard you talk about Cherokee lake a few times but I only think about it for stripers, catfish, and paddlefish. I catch a bunch of smallmouth in the Holston River up above it but wait about 5 or 6 years and take the extra drive to Boone. They stocked it with those Florida strained F series bass that should be huge by then. They stocked them a couple of years ago after the dam had to be repaired. Thanks buddy
It’s a good lake
Forgot about the Shadrap, caught a 54 lb 10 fish limit in the early 80's on the number 7 and 5 in a private pond. All on 10 lb test with a Falcon 5'6" baitcaster and a Curado reel. They were spawning on Cypress stumps. Unbelievable day .

I’ve got some probably 20 year old Duel Hardcore crankbaits. The 2” wake minnow (I think that’s what it’s called) still catches them. Good wobble and sound. Always great looking lures.

Hell our water is 79°-82° the marsh bass are deep it’s 87°in the marsh 30 miles south of me and we have have been in the high 80’s quite a few days this year already
I’m jealous
With the shad rap for spring smallmouth, does it have to make bottom contact to be effective or will they come up for it? Lots of lakes I fish have steep rock to sand transitions and the shad rap doesn't dive deep/fast enough to actually make bottom contact but i know the fish would come up for a jerkbait in same areas. Great topic!
