  • I finally have been successful growing Creeping Wire Vine and I think it will be a great addition to the plants I have in hypertufa planters outside all year long.

    In California zone 9b. I planted a four inch pot of this and have created a eight to ten plus foot high by forty feet long hedge with topiary. I guess there are some varieties that get very long. It’s Rey vigorous here. I did some divisions of the plant to expand it originally. Planted in 2009.

      Thank you so much. I try and speak slowly and distinctly so that the captions will be fairly correct. (They are automatically created by picking up the voice. Too bad they don't punctuate.)

    I'm in zone 9-10, actually bought a 4" pot of this at Ohio Nursery at the beginning of fall and divided into some small pots. It's been sitting in my greenhouse ever since, some have no leaves and just started some growth this spring. I never knew its care so Ill be changing the soil on a fast drain one. Thanks for the info ;-D

      Here in Ohio, mine will drop leaves in winter (outside), but it grows again from the roots if it lives. Good drainage is a must for this one.

      Thanks Claudia, and I have been struggling with that setting. It seems to appear in some videos and not in others. I have gone into the settings and this one displays for allowing subtitles now, but I cannot get it to "click" as if I wanted to add some. I will keep working at it because I would love for there to be some translations. I appreciate your willingness to do that.

      I keep mine in a pot with an Arabian Jasmine, under a roofed porch that faces the west so it gets the Sun for about 3 hours come evening. It loves this spot. I've had it only since April and its grown x10. Mine is not as bushy as Kim's instead very viney with some more than a 12 inches in length.

    Hi Kim, I live in southern PA zone 5-7, I have my wire vine in a pot, on my deck the stems are Red and some are brown ,but all leaves are lacking, they dropped in the fall it is April 5, How can I tell if my plant is dead, And when I see buds will they come out of the stick or from the root I’m so confused I wish I could see what others look, And I don’t want to give up it just looks like a bunch of gnarled branches but I don’t think they’re dead because they’re red and pliable almost like rubber thank you so much

      It sounds like yours just went thru its winter dormancy and sounds healthy. Mine looks like a bundle of dead twigs...and I am afraid that's what it might be. I will try & be patient for it to leaf out.

    I m living at Asia, zone likely to be 3b-4a, it will shed leaves every now and then
    I seat it in a pot too
    but 1) is it normal that it starts dropping leaves (much more) &turning yellow at this period (September)- moving into Falls? ?
    2) Do you have any tips in propagating them?

    • @thehypertufagardener
      @thehypertufagardener  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In my area, it will die back to the ground, losing its leaves, and regrow in the spring on the old wood. If you still have some growing tips, you can root a cutting from those. Just trim off a growing branch, take off lower leaves, put into soil and wait for it to take root. (If you are going into fall, do this quickly or take inside for winter under lights.) I hope you can get some new ones that way.

      @@thehypertufagardener I m not sure does doing a cutting means just snip it off like what i have done (ref: instagram.com/p/Bz9V_fCBQbegGXdiZUEgUZzPBQVPX-9tyIHGVA0/ )
