Hugely impressive indeed after such a short space of time, which indicates just how good this SBC and the RK3588 in general is, which means that both user and community support are certain to grow very quickly. With AMLogic nowhere to be seen right now with their new SOC, this one could dominate in 2023. I'm very happy with mine and has been the best value purchase in a while. I only wish that Orange Pi themselves would pull up their socks with regards to support and development.

They do great work, that's for sure. But the RK3588s is not an SoC that's that recent, there have been boards before the opi 5 that used it like the khadas edge 2 and the even older rock 5B... so they had some versions of Armbian already working on that soc.

I agree, Armbian is much better than the Original Orange Pi images that link into Huawei hosted repositories in China. The Orange Pi Hardware/boards work excellent (just keep them cooled down with a cooling fan). I have been using Red Hat/Fedora on my laptop and desktop for a long time, so the use of Armbian/Debian Linux wasn't too bad to adjust to (it just took some time to make my peace with it). I just want Fedora to start making images that work with modern Orange Pi Boards/support more of these boards.
I dabbled around with Armbian today and figured out how to set up the sudoers file so it wouldn't prompt anyone in the sudo group for a password. I modified a line in the /etc/sudoers file. The line was changed to %sudo ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: ALL It seems to work just fine, since administrative privileges are needed to add users to the sudo group to begin with. :)

Loving your Orange Pi 5 videos and loving my OPi 5. It's noticeably more powerful than the RPi 4! Like others, I've been concerned about the Huawei repos so Armbian is a nice alternative. The Orange Pi is faster with Android. The Raspberry Pi 5 has way more support.

@@leepspvideo The issues with Armbian Bookworm for Orange Pi 5. After running the armbian-install program and selecting the option "1 'Boot from SD - system on SATA, USB or NVMe'" the program transfers the contents of the SD card to the drive (SATA or NVMe). And it works. The problem occurs after booting I'm presented with a message stating: Loading, please wait... Starting systemd-udevd version 252.17-!deb12v1 Begin: Loading essential drives.... done Beign: Running /scripts/init-prenmont ... You are in emergency mode. After logging in, type "journalctl-xb"to system logs, "systemctl reboot" to reboot, "systemctl default" or exit Go book into default mode. Give root password for maintenance or press Control-D to continue. Then it freezes. The system will not allow me to do anything else. I can only unplug the power to reboot. That's it.
