Dude! WTF?!. The last few days , I have been playing Redd Kross songs like MAD! And remembering all the times of crossing paths with them at shows. And , Jason Lee!
I love The Red Kross E.P and Born Innocent but Redd Kross were just one of those bands that got better and more pleasurably melodic as they got older,Absolutely Classic!!!
saw that show as well! remember the stage went dark before STP went on and a living room set/decor was lowered onto the stage and when the lights came on, scott weiland and co. were all lounging on the chairs and sofa? didn't afghan wigs or the meat puppets also open, or was i thinking about the rage/86th street music hall show/ wait, no, that was the presidents of the USA- also an epic show! RK had such a great stage presence...
I was there too! I was only 13 years old! I think the Meat Puppets played too! What a line up! You can definitely hear how Scott Weiland must have loved these guys because his voice timbre sounds very similar on Tiny Music.
I know early 90s rock was all about grunge (not knocking grunge - I liked it), but the power pop around at the time (Redd Kross, Jellyfish, The Posies etc) was just SO much better. Just needed a bit of exposure...
It's really just alternative rock. Alt rock was small at the time of grunge, but rose in stature after grunge died. Jane's adiction was a good Alt band in the early 90s. Redd kross probably didn't take off because of their name; just my opinion.
At the same time, some power pop of that era, especially the Posies and Teenage Fanclub, were clearly drawing from grunge and underground guitar rock like Sonic Youth, so the categories weren't mutually exclusive. Teenage Fanclub's earliest work is basically Sonic Youth with more pop hooks.
Takes me back... Used to hear this on the radio back when the whole grunge thing was picking up and I was starting to explore its outer fringes. Good to hear it again, and at a decent quality too.
I had to search for this video after it popped into my head. I recorded it off M2 back in the 90s and used to watch it all the time with a bunch of other videos. This still rocks!
My favorite RK song of all .. back when videos helped backwater doofuses -- like me in '93 -- discover bands they'd never see otherwise. Redd Kross rules -- and I hope to see you guys in/around Philly soon.
Ok when I hear this I think it's my favourite Redd Kross song, but then I hit any number of their tracks of the nearly 30 year career, including their latest album which is shit hot, and I don't know -- it's like choosing between Italy and France for the best food. But Eddie was just a top guitarist, oh lordy when I hear that lead break...
I had a promotional video full of upcoming bands procured from a garage sale in the 90's, and this song was like a freight train. Amazing! Band members are cuties too. Should've gotten so much more attention and press.
The LP that SHOULD HAVE blown Redd Kross in to the mainstream. I wonder what happened? Record company? Management? I know they toured a lot and played killer live shows (saw 'em at the Blind Pig Ann Arbor on "Neurotica" tour)...
How can you not love this from the very first listen? The goofy cross-eyed face after "Doty Crips or Bloods or Zeppelin" is unexpectedly revealing for there is truth in jest or something.
Watching Redd Kross "go grunge" was pretty weird, seeing as they were an influence on most of those bands. But then they did it in such a funny way - this track is straight Nirvana (soft / LOUD, that fuckin' solo), the song "Huge Wonder" is power pop built out of the cresendo to Black Sabbath's "Iron Man" - brilliant, too brilliant, apparently.
Would disagree a bit here. I think this is way more of them - "bringing KISS and The Pixies into their whole Beatles/CheapTrick/Zeppelin" thing, than "Going Grunge". But I do see your point. In any case, this fucking rules.
Eddie Kurdziel was the lead guitarist on Phase shifter, and Show World and a few other recordings. I do know that his favorite bands are some that you both mentioned. Eddie's ear heard everything, he could play anything! Best damn guitarist I knew, and he was my best friend.
Whenever i listen to phaseshifter, i skip 1&2 and start at Monilith. Ive always thought the singles are the least marketable songs on the album. Im not quite sure why or how these songs were chosen. Its an ok song it's just not quite as good as the rest. If i ran the label, id start with maybe dumb angel or only a girl, then have a huge obnoxious overplayed hit with monolith then do ms lady evans

Kinks chords, Nirvana rage, Flaming Lips posture and Big Star song cycle.
This is Jackson Pollack rock ‘n roll.
LOL nearly 30 yrs later and I JUST notice that `jimmy` is Jason Lee!!
Watching this again 30 years later. Amazing how our brains never forget these songs.
Dude! WTF?!. The last few days , I have been playing Redd Kross songs like MAD!

And , Jason Lee!
Totally. Rock on!!!
We need Redd Kross right now !
This is the first time seeing this video..... and I'm reminded of why I have always thought of why Redd Kross is so awesome, unique and so special...
Red Kross are by far the greatest band of all time i couldnt give a flying fuck what anyone else thinks they rule
Yeah dude
\m/
Does someone think they suck?
Redd Kross, Shonen Knife, Lunachicks, Supersuckers made the 90s for me
Red Kross were part of what made the 80's for me.... but like their 90's stuff too
Cottilon , Mercury rev ,flaming lips ,
I saw Shonen Knife at The Black Cat in WDC and they blew me away. Great show.
Babes in Toyland
Forgot how awesome this song was...and still is!
1993
Such an awesome band. Just caught Steve playing bass in Melvins and he’s still got it. 🔥
Who doesn't play bass in the Melvins tho?
Lol
Redd Kross was really cool in the 80's and 90's. Only really hip people knew about them.
Where did they find the woman who agreed to be the undesirable? I have to give her alot of credit.
Oh why thank you for the compliment 😉
I love The Red Kross E.P and Born Innocent but Redd Kross were just one of those bands that got better and more pleasurably melodic as they got older,Absolutely Classic!!!
Linda Blair was a damn good punk song though. They turn to a more alternative style as times changed.
@@tash5540 they turned to a 70’s pop band
@@pimpbizkit_6911 Yeah. A mix of glam, power pop and punk. Big Star mixed with T. Rex, almost IMO
First band I ever saw live. They opened for Stone Temple Pilots at the Plaza of Nations Vancouver in 1994.
My lord. Two of my fav bands ever live in 1994. Envy you so fuckin' much.
saw that show as well! remember the stage went dark before STP went on and a living room set/decor was lowered onto the stage and when the lights came on, scott weiland and co. were all lounging on the chairs and sofa? didn't afghan wigs or the meat puppets also open, or was i thinking about the rage/86th street music hall show/ wait, no, that was the presidents of the USA- also an epic show! RK had such a great stage presence...
Cool, i moved to Vancouver in 2000 so i missed a lot of good shows. Saw the Pixies at plaza though. eventually
Saw the same bill in London autumn 1994. The Pilots were delayed for ages and weren't great. Redd Kross blew them away in my opinion.
I was there too! I was only 13 years old! I think the Meat Puppets played too! What a line up! You can definitely hear how Scott Weiland must have loved these guys because his voice timbre sounds very similar on Tiny Music.

totally agree!!
Don't forget Urge Overkill and Teenage Fanclub as well!
James Bradshaw you aren't wrong

So much nostalgia... makes me want to cry. This is soooo good!
Omg!!! Jimmy is Jason Lee from My Name Is Earl?!?! Incredible!!
Back then he was known as Jason Lee pro skater..
he was also a scientologist
So much hair, and power strumming!
And know, with 36 yo listening to this and remembering how great was the early 90s
Now we're 40's and still loving it
This is a total heads up to anyone who wants to make real music. Redd Kross are the total real deal.
I love Redd Kross so much!!!

Is that the guy from My Name Is Earl in the vid??
ummmm why isn't this song on Spotify???
They out Cheap Trick'd Cheap Trick on this one. Best, most catchy power-pop chorus maybe ever.
How can you not love this from the very first listen? The goofy cross-eyed face after "Doty Crips or Bloods or Zeppelin" is unexpectedly revealing for there is truth in jest or something.
one more as a husker du deserves more than he had crossed the 80s and 90s and still in activity the Mc Donalds Bros.
killer song
used to see these guys at the Fleetwood back in 79
Amazing video
Possibly the greatest guitar tone ever recorded
The monster tone you speak of is none other than Eddie Kurdziel!!
I know this he was my best friend.
R.I.P. 💔
Somewhere you hear a bit sample of Come as you are
🖤
The sound has something of the Beatles. It's a great sound!
fosastico essa banda
Jason Lee podia tirar umas tricks neste clipe...
Saw them live early ninety's Mean Fiddler club Harlesden London and others around that time .They definitely had the magic .Epic live

Well something about this album makes me fly free I am yeah that's all can say ah oh won't you listen
Every rock band with a Beatles-based pop sensibility and normal pants is alright by me.
muito foda!!
To mags. Only the BEST band EVER
Bons tempos de MTV , depois ficou uma porcaria
This is the Grunge omg!!! Nice!!!
Spakkkkaaaa
was that Jason lee in the beginning of that video? looks like him
yes indeed it is
And the same Actor voice Syndrome from The Incredibles 1 (2004)
Looked a bit like Michael C. Hall.
He was also in a Sonic Youth video. Jason was busy.
I hear some Money will roll right in parts from Fang in this
Hey its Earl
Is that Juliette Lewis in the video?
No
Derrek And Brett
My Name is Earl
wooah
Is that Jason Lee ?
john lennon voice ?
Is it me or does he sound a bit like John lennon?
yeah...sounds like lennon after his death.
.you´re crazy man
No he doesn't. But he's got a blues rasp in his voice that really suited the Researching The Blues album, which was their best in my opinion
No. This sounds more like their glam rock/punk origins and influences.
Yes, the tone is Lennonesque
