Thanks very much for this update. I've covered progress on the Chesterfield Canal a couple of times and it's great to hear someone else's take on the project.
Hey Paul. Thanks for the video. Great to see Gordo. He’s looking well. Agree with another poster - Gordos galavants is a great idea 😃 Really cannot wait for you filming the canal reaching across the puddle banks !! Thanks for your great videos S
Another welcome episode on the ongoing restoration saga, Thanks. It's not easy to find much information on this from down here in NZ. Keep up the good work
Paul, thanks for this video, explains a lot. I now understand where bridge will be located. Although a member of Chesterfield Canal Trust and recipient of Cuckoo magazine, had bike ride past the works early July but couldn't make sense of alignment. Now clear and I plan another ride after bridge is open.
Yay!!! Gordo's back! You should do a little side-channel called 'Gordo's Galavants'. If it's any consolation, here in 'That There London' has also been dull, gloomy and muggy. Please keep us updated. I'd be tempted to ask for boat shaped buildings, rather than the concrete box in that picture. I mean 'boat shaped' as in like the bow of a boat pointing upwards so that the roofs are steeply curved and have a point (good for rainy weather).
Paul, Thanks for the update! Since you asked, my impression of the Staveley Waterside development is that the building design isn't the best for the site. It looks from the rendering you showed to be a sterile modern box done on the cheap that won't draw people or add much of anything to a location that has a lot of potential. Hopefully I'm wrong, but it often seems the architectural renderings for planned buildings look better than the actualized reality. On thing that seems for certain is that time will tell. Cheers!
Cheers Scott. Yeah it's too boxy isnt it. Hopefully some other more interesting stuff will appear around it. They are starting the framework soon, so we won't have long to find out.
It just needs a waterside cafe and amenities block, not office units, and at least make it look like an interesting building, modern buildings are so dull and dreary, dont make them like they used to

Love a good concrete pour…. The form work looks great… there’s a lot of love there … for sure!

Hi Robin. You're welcome
Great to see things happening on the restoration…totally agree with you on the looks of the building….
Going to be an interesting few months ahead :)

Cheers Andrew
Nice one with your wobbly dog lol😂❤❤❤
He's a character
Great to see some progress Paul, shame the railway went so recently. Good to see Gordo out with you
Yeah it's moving along at a lovely pace now.

Haha 'Gordo's Galavants'. I love it. If only I had the time for another channel 😄. The tragedy is, he'd probably have more followers :)
I've just read an article that the bridge is scheduled to be lifted into place on Oct 10th.
Indeed. Looking forward to it.

There’s a green portage on at Renishaw end now too so guessing they are starting on the canal soon
Im well overdue a walk down Renishaw
@@WobblyRunnerthat was meant to say portacabin! Surrounded by metal fencing. Guessing they’re staring the canal rewatering soon
It should have been poured by now
I might have a walk past tomorrow
@@WobblyRunner let me know what you see, as said I won’t be up until the lift but I’ll share any posts you put up
Can’t say I like that design of the office building either. It’s not the right place for that building.
I'm hoping it looks better in person. Hopefully there will be some nice stuff to compliment it.

Hopefully there will be amenities etc added at some stage. Especially if more boats begin to use it.
