A brand new original song based around Striker, featuring originally created backing music, sound design, visuals and artwork.
And here we are! My last upload of 2023 to close out the year in style after what has been a frankly bonkers 12 months of music and personal accomplishments I never thought I'd see happen. We've heard ink demons sing and booze cats swing. Saw killers return and watched popstars perform. And listened to a prince's lament. And now it's time for the best bounty hunter in Hell to have his turn.
Striker has been one of the most... well, striking characters that Helluva has introduced, scheming and slick to get what he wants no matter what gets in his way. His original introduction cutting right to the heart of Blitzo's insecurities before showing himself to be dangerous enough to kidnap a Goetia successfully speaks to his sheer determination and skill, and there was only one person who could do this song justice. Striker himself!
Edward Bosco has been an inspiration to me since my earliest days of making proper fan music. From the debut of the Hazbin pilot all the way to his turn providing such a charismatic performance in Striker, having him on board this track was an honour and privilege to have. Ed put in an insane amount of practice to ensure his performance really captured the arrogance and willpower the piece needed and he absolutely nailed it in every possible way. With a massive shoutout to Dawn M. Bennett as the vocal director for the project, helping to bring this all together with their own amazing talents and direction!
The track itself is inspired by not only the obvious country and Western vibes that Striker's status as a cowboy villain brings, but also the energetic movements of breakbeat and drum-heavy dance music pioneered by the likes of artists such as Fatboy Slim in the early 2000s. I wanted to fuse that old time sound with something modern to match Striker's style with his methods, focusing on material that shows that nothing will stand in his way of getting what he wants and enjoying the hunt while he does it. See if you can spot the references to already existing Striker music from the show!

This song really captures Striker’s cold and narcissistic character. He’s ruthless and prideful and I love it. You really stole the show with his lyrics talking about he was born with hard life and how he built his way to the top. Epic song PARANOID DJ 🤠😈🔥✊🏾

I think I can speak for many Helluva Boos fans when I say, Edward Bosco needed this! Many of us felt upset when Striker's VA changed but this song solidifies how good he is at playing Striker and how I would LOVE for him to have another on in the show.

"I am through with listening to the whims of royalty... unless of course, they want divorce by way of contract fee." That's a brilliant way to bridge the gap between Striker's stated motivations and his actions in Western Energy.
I've generally filled in the, otherwise, disconnect by assuming Striker is, often, killing his clients after successful jobs. If that's revealed later, Stella's LUCKY he failed the first time and she called it off the second time.

@@NOWABOmusic Likely because he still has a reputation to consider. A contract killer's renown would be from doing what their client wants, be it death in a specific way for personal grudge or sending a message along with their ability and self control. If he gets to be known as an unhinged hitman who won't stop even if the client ends up changing their mind on the hit, that would likely start effecting how many rely on him. Being able to call off a hit is important should circumstances change.

God I loved the scrappy western vibe this had! Definitely a song befitting our beloved bounty hunter! Carlos did an amazing job with the editing and Kalico's art never ceases to impress!! Outstanding job to Bosco for his performance! The way he carries some of the lyrics really shows his personality, like how you can practically hear him sneering when he mentions the royals, and how he's having the time of his life when he thinks of hunting down his prey. All in all yet another masterpiece and a fantastic way to end the year!

I love everything about this. Ed’s vocals crush it and the stylization of the video like an old western fits so well it’s just perfection. Another masterpiece from the biggest Hellaverse fan song composer and writer.

i swear! you dont even need to know the show to understand what striker is about! it fully screams cold blooded mercenary who enjoys his job. the fact that it's all sung with such calm and smoothness of voice at start til mid and then when singing lyrics other than the riff with such roughness of voice, show's passion for what he does. im in LOVE with this song! as always, it's a hit in my book!

Some people like to crap on Ed as the voice of Striker, but personally I think he's great! And his singing voice as Striker here was so good! I also find some people's complaints about his voice acting a little ironic; Not only is he a great striker voice, he's Alistor the fucking Radio Demon! (Only in the pilot, I know, but his version will always be the true one in my heart.)

I'm looking forward to his return, too. Based on how he was "defeated" in his last appearance, I think part of the reason the Shark Robot shop is phasing out his current merch line is because we'll be seeing a new design for him soon. One with burn markings. I could be wrong, but that's the feeling I have right now.
striker going insane is literally a huge part of his character arc. stop acting like he needs to “get his act together”. his behaviour in recent episodes is very much intentional
An arc that wasn’t established in his first outing in season 1, was not built up at all and happened way too fast, and completely changed his character for the worst in season 2, he was made up to be an actual genuine threat in season 1 and season 2 completely shat the bed on that, effectively making Striker a big joke. An arc like going insane would fit someone like Stella way more considering she’s already in high power and could lose that at any moment, Striker has nothing to lose, considering his lower position in hell. This transition to insanity never feels natural even if it was meant to happen regardless.

HIS JOB AND REPUTATION? the only thing he has left? a crew member who works on the show literally said he’s losing it because he’s losing the only thing he had left going for him.
striker has done more damage to the characters in season 2 than he did in season 1, and is also far more competent. people either watched harvest moon festival with rose tinted glasses or simply haven’t watched it in a while because striker was not “retconned” or changed at all. his behaviour in season 2 is completely understandable if you actually LISTEN to what he says, pay attention to who he’s interacting with and also the setting he’s in.
in season 1, striker was all talk. he was a badass, don’t get me wrong, but did no damage apart from breaking millie’s arm, and he didn’t get round to doing his job because he was too busy bullying moxxie. in season 2, he does his damn job. he doesn’t beat around the bush, he gets down to doing what he’s got to do. he also beat the crap out of m&m in a 2v1 and also almost killed them as well as stolas. IMP all take him seriously. if they didn’t, they wouldn’t be trying to kill him every time they cross paths. striker being able to survive all of their attempts to kill him and be able to stand toe to toe with them in fights despite the fact that there are 3 of them and 1 of him alone shows how capable he is. and no, he’s not treated “like a joke”. people like to claim he is because stolas was being snarky towards him during the start of the kidnapping (even though that’s perfectly in character for stolas and striker’s reaction was perfectly justifiable), and because striker has a statue of himself. if you think his entire character has gone down the drain because he has a statue of himself when he was already presented as one of the most narcissistic characters in the show, i don’t know what to tell you.

@@bananerbug165 also, the arc not being established in his first episode? that’s the entire point! he starts off as seemingly being calm and collected, but at the end of the episode, he loses the fight and runs away. in W.E. we see snippets of anger when confronting stolas (which is understandable considering striker literally says beforehand that he had his entire life ruined by royals, and stolas is a ROYAL), and then at the end, beats m&m in a fight, almost kills them but is forced to escape at the last second. and then in oops, right at the end, he gets a warehouse dropped on him by the same man that started all this (BLITZ), and he snaps because he’s had enough of IMP being able to one up him when he’s used to being the best.
vivziepop does not need to sit here and spoon feed you the idea that striker is going to go insane because it ruins the entire point. you should be able to infer why he’s lost his mind by looking at his behaviour, how he acts and what he says in the three episodes he appears in, and it’s really not that difficult to understand why if you actually pay attention. at the end of his debut episode, you’re not supposed to know he’s going to go insane, because it builds up over the next couple of episodes before reaching a boiling point at the end of oops.
that chuckle at the end got me. Besides that, the song was incredible. Paranoid DJ exceeds my expectations every time with every song, and I'm so happy that we now have a Striker song from Edward Bosco, cannon or not. I can never get enough of Edward's voice and this song is gonna be on repeat for a long time.
I've loved Striker ever since he was introduced into Helluva Boss. Me being a country girl myself, it's good to see such an amazing villainous character like him. And both Norman Reedus and Edward Bosco did an amazing job voicing him.

I absolutely LOVE the merging of styles in this song!! That beat with the western vibes fits together so well, and makes it VERY danceable. Boppin my head the whole time. Edward Bosco did a FANTASTIC job with the vocals!!! And I love the artwork and typography.

Definitely my favorite paranoid DJ song! Huge fan of Striker and this is no doubt a love letter to his character. The song is absolutely catchy and Ed Bosco did absolutely wonderful at singing as him you can tell he put a lot of love and effort into singing these lyrics. Everyone who worked on it did a wonderful job! So happy to be here for the premiere and listen to it many times after it came out ❤
This is an insane level of improvement from Ed. I remember 3-5 years ago when he could barely sing at all (great rapper though). And even in Radio Play you could tell he was beginning to improve but still working on it. THIS THOUGH??? Oh my god it’s beautiful, I am blown away by his dedication and skills

This incredibly catchy song combined with that character design got me interested in finally watching Helluva Boss! I think I can safely say I wouldn't have been nearly so interested in Striker if I hadn't heard this first before watching his debut in the Harvest Moon festival episode. It conveys his character so well, and shows him to be more than just a macho cowboy archetype. I especially love the addition of the backing chorus underneath the main chorus, it's so satisfying and catchy.
The fact that this is sung by Strikers actual VA is fantastic.
DAMN! OFFICIALLY MY NEW FAV HERE! Not only were you able to get the second official V.A. for Striker, but this song was undoubtedly perfect for his character! Deep, powerful, slick, with a true blue western feel and a way of truly showing how depraved and vengeful Striker is. We still have no real clue as to just what turned him against the rulers of Hell, but this shows just what he is: a monster worthy of realm of the damned who will stop at nothing til he gets his prize and who aims for all highborns (even Lucifer homself possibly) to be good and gone. Truly a FANTASTIC way to end the year! Congrats!

Ed Bosco is going from strength to strength, I'm so glad to have discovered his talents back when I first heard him as Ahrah in Dust: An Elysian Tale and Kan-Ra in Killer Instinct.
Also, I can really see Striker singing this as he's getting ready for a hit, loading his guns with bullets, sharpening his knives, picking out his finest attire.

I know next to nothing about Helluva Boss but I absolutely LOVE this song and you took all of the chances for a cool little part (Like the slide on "Sights" towards the end), I was expecting them and you gave them to me better than my expectations. I also love this guy's voice, it's so rough and low, which I absolutely adore (too bad my voice is higher and I also play higher woodwind instruments lol) I will be looking into more of your songs 😉

Judging from the tempo... I would say THIS song would fit during an epic chase scene.
With the slow bit occurring when his target or targets are "trying" to hide while he is searching for them.
The "Now you're in my sights" happening in time with him looking AT his target.
I could also see parts of the animation showing much needed flashbacks to previous jobs he succeeded with.
I hope this song becomes canon in the real series like "Look my way" did!

Striker remains to be my favorite villain so far in Helluva Boss and I think this song does him justice. So cool to hear Ed singing, those backup vocals are amazingly blended into the chorus, and it's an overall catchy "pump me up" type of sound. Excellent work! Happy New Year and may 2024 bring even more fantastic music!
