One of the things I noticed this time around with seeing Us is that her little boy knew whenever he saw his mom kill their neighbor's Other daughter. She didn't change her attitude because her son saw her kill someone but because her old mannerisms slipped out. He knew from that moment.

What I loved about the ending of get out was that it was a very big moment for Chris, he had always hated leaving people to die on a road due to his mum and his guilt for it but at the ends he leaves her to die as if to show his power in the situation.
The grandparents doing a lot of physical work in Get Out is partially explained by the grandfather being so obsessed by the fact that he lost to Jesse Owens. He views black male bodies (and I say bodies, specifically, because he as well as the other characters, dehumanize them) as strong, fast, and powerful, something he was so envious of that he created the entire cult/scheme to harvest those bodies. Two other factors are that they went from their elderly bodies to younger, more physically able bodies, and the last part is that they probably do it as part of a cover. Even while they are in black bodies, they still view black people as "the help" and pretend to take on those roles as that is how they think the world should be.
I love how we went from Trin being scared and closing her eyes in scary movie commentaries, to now her being in love with horror movies. We love growth
Daniel is such a good actor. He cried for real during the hypnosis tea scene. And at the end when he was fighting the family & realizing Rose's betrayal, he portrayed all those emotions so well - the anxiety, fear, anger, determination. I will be forever happy that my guy got out of there 🙌🏾 💯 💙
another reason i think gordy didn't kill jupe is because he's under the sheet/doesnt see his eyes that well. the whole film is like dont look at it, and the fact that his eyes were covered coupled with the recognition/trust gordy had for jupe may have played into that. later we see jupe's inability to explain what happened (instead telling the snl story) shows he's never gotten help/healed from that experience. so he goes on to think he has some special connection to animals instead of learning FROM that experience. he in fact goes on to do the very same mistake Gordy's Home made
no, it was because the balloons stopped popping and it calmed grody down. And it fits with one of the themes in the film where once you take a wild animal out of its home you can't tame it which leads jupe to his death. and the shoe. it's in the grody room in jupes office. sorry for correcting you.
@@adrianacrabtree2808 I know the shoe is in his room, it’s the exact same in his memory. That’s why I think he’s imagining it in the past. He’s remembering it wrong as he stares at it all day. I stand by the no eye contact saving him from Gordy, otherwise why would they film it so their eyes never meet outside of the tablecloth.
@@jayforpay7774 I think it’s a mix of he’s remembering the past while he’s staring right at the shoe in rl. :) so that’s why it’s standing like that. Just my thought
Hey I want to talk about "A Bad Miracle". I only learned this off of playing a jumpscare videogame about running from a randomly generated creepy-crawly on a haunted ship, but the word for A Bad Miracle is "Monstrum". Back in the days when they hunted werewolves and burned witches, if a mother gave birth to a child with the head of a beast, the deformed baby was a monster, but the event itself was a monstrum.
35:55 the way i interpreted it is that gordy doesn’t kill jupe because the table cloth obscures his eye contact, just like how not making eye contact with jean jacket prevents it from eating you
the sunken place really resonated for me in terms of having frequent dissociation/depersonalization. like that’s exactly how it feels when you get so trapped you can’t do a thing
Trin is back and more beautiful than ever. The overall background screams neon old school movie posters to me. It kinda just takes you back to probably 70s to 80s slasher films.
Steven Yuen’s monologue made me think of the SNL Try Guys “sketch” and I’m realising how much that message is embedded in truth. Media taking a spectacle, no matter what it is, and turning it into entertainment.
Us is the most terrifying of the trio and I think it’s because it doesn’t have an explanation. Get Out - rich racists who don’t think they’re racists, Nope - an alien from outer space, Us - WHERE DID THOSE PEOPLE COME FROM HAVE THEY ALWAYS BEEN THEIR WHAT IS GOING ON
10:25 they don't usually do the work around the house; when Rose brings someone home they pretend to be the help to keep up the fake appearances. But the rest of the time they are a part of the family. It's just another front to keep him from being suspicious too quickly
i would love if trin started a patreon and uploaded more uncut, longer versions of her videos. idk how patreon is about copyright, but if they’re more lenient than youtube, i would 100% subscribe.
im pretty sure a lot of reaction youtubers use patreon to upload full reactions!! except without showing the actual movie (so u have to set up the movie itself) hope trin considers hehe cos thatd be sick
The thing about Gordy is he’s a wild animal who has a natural instinct - eye contact (which is why Jupe was saved, he was looking at the “bad miracle” shoe standing on its own instead of looking into Gordy’s eyes and the table cloth obscuring direct eye contact), loud noises, which initially set him off, etc… tying in with what the Jean jacket is doing. Jean jacket is sheltering in place until it can find food, and the way it does that is by hearing and making “eye contact” with its prey, it’s just what’s in its nature to do, just like a wild animal who knows no difference.
Stop everything you're doing and watch Wendell & Wild rn. I will go to my grave loving Jordan Peele after he pretty much said F you to Tim Burton for saying black people wouldn't look right in claymation.
My brother and I were the tethered for Halloween this year :) Also the whole fight between Adelaide and Red was to show how durable Adelaide is. She got cut and stabbed multiple times and still recovered, while Red was very precise in her movements. The tethered do have some enhanced abilities, Red isn’t an actual tethered so the one stab is what killed her. It also makes sense why Red is so intelligent and is the only one that can speak since she’s originally from the surface. Her voice is damaged because of Adelaide choking her before kidnapping her!!!
I would love to see your thoughts on the movie Wendell and Wild! It was seriously so good and is made by Jordan Peele and Henry Selick(known for his claymation work on Coraline, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, etc.)! I absolutely loved this video by the way!
It actually makes me so mad that people would even entertain the idea of OJ being dead. Like no the whole point is that she feels relief after seeing OJ is there and then the picture comes 2nd. The moral is that you should focus on important things like family rather than chasing fame. The example, for what not to do, and of losing everything is Jupe who not only lost everything but brought all those ppl down (including his childhood crush, who also survived the attack & his wife & kids) with him.
I swear Jordan Peele is the most amazing director. I don't believe that he can make a bad movie. It won't be flawless because no one is, but it will still be the most amazing thing ever
I also think that in Nope, a huge part of why Gordy didn't attack Jupe was because of the veil between them from the table cloth. The movie brings in so many themes about eye contact & how to animals, that's a threat. They weren't able to make direct eye contact because of the slip between them, which is also what made the shot that was mentioned about Gordy looking into the camera so jostling. We exist with the same primal instinct and it carries through - Gordy, the horses, and finally Jean Jacket. The term 'spectacle' was a beautiful way to describe the exploitation, while also focusing on the viewing aspect. We crack under a lens.
Other directors with short filmographies you could do: Ryan Coogler, Robert Eggers, Greta Gerwig, Ari Aster, Martin McDonagh, Yorgos Lanthimos, Damien Chazelle, Mike Mills. And then a little on the medium side Denis Villeneuve, David Fincher, Paul Thomas Anderson.
Another theory I heard was that the scene with Gordy was to show how you can’t tame a wild animal. In Gordy’s home they wanted to tame the monkey for entertainment and it didn’t work out. Jupiter didn’t learn from this traumatic event and instead he tried to tame Jean jacket for entertainment which inevitably got him killed. My dad brought this theory up to me and I found it very interesting to think about.
Jordan Peele is a freaking visionary. He was iconic when he was on Mad Tv, and then his Key and Peele show, and his directorial career so far is stellar. I love his work, and will see anything with this name attached. Personally US, was my favorite of his films so far. I am so excited to see his career expand and grow.
I watched saw bits and pieces of this movie. The scene where the people were in the monster was horrifying and made me feel nauseous. I am also now afraid of monkeys now which is kinda valid (learned about what inspired the monkey stuff). Honestly I don't think I could watch the movie Nope fully ever but I can appreciate how good it seems. Edit: I can look at some monkey memes sort of fine but it is the pictures/videos of monkeys smiling that get me the most. I feel disgusted and terrified looking at that.
I think I legitimately have a fear of monkeys from this movie too, not that they never made me nervous but now I feel so horrified at the thought of seeing one in person
I've had a fear of monkeys since I was a child. I saw this tv show where these guys were describing getting attacked in some wildlife retreat and one man talked about two of his fingers literally getting clean ripped off. Chimps are scary as hell
Going from girl who is scared of everything to a horror fan was exactly what happened when i got treatment for ocd. Everything went from like. Soul crushingly terrifying to like. Super fun!! I love these videos :3
I'm so so glad you made this video Peele is one of my MUST-SEE directors, anything he makes I'm there in a cinema lickety split. I could talk about his films for hours but I'll keep it brief - in my interpretation ending of Nope when the sister closes her eyes and the brother appears under the arch, it's not her imagining him there or him being dead but her being reminded of what matters. In a whole film about spectacle and keeping your eyes open and them being so obsessed with getting the shot (the film director who's killed as he's filming), in the final scene she closes her eyes and he appears because she's looking inwards and being reminded of what really matters which is her brother. Her whole character arc is about being on screen and being seen but by the end of the film, she knows the only person she really needs to be witnessed by is her loved ones. I like to believe he's alive and they burn the photos but I'm an optimist
The way this video just opened my third eye about Nope. I love listening to your theories, I didn’t even consider that he might be dead in that last shot 🤨
i really appreciated your commentary on all the movies + all your observations on nope. i also really really appreciate how you broke down the jupiter's claim/gordy's home/star lasso connection, because that's something i heard a lot of people not understanding/getting. as for a bad miracle, i guess anything that lets you live past an initial horrific incident but completely fucks you over later. like. yeah, you survived but at what cost? which, now that i think about it, could also tie into "yes, em has The Oprah Shot but she's lost her home, her father, the horses, her normal life, and (possibly) her brother." and then there's the fame that's gonna come from her getting the shot in the first place, which - as we all know by now - can be extremely detrimental. she got famous and she survived, but at what cost?

37:34 have you ever been in a bouncy castle that starts deflating and everyone is screaming and trying to get out at the same time before it falls on top of you?
the grandpa and grandma couldnt live like they were actually party of the family because no one would believe in that kind of relationship so when they have "guests" they have to pretend to be the help and only that (of course they could do chores casually but when daniel arrives its ONLY that) it has to be part of the play and if they had actually family relation in front of the daniel (cant remembrr any character name) it would freak the sh*t out of him, thats why when grandma its a little bit too nosy (something normal for her being who she actually is) they have to reprehend her and treat her like the house cleaner only
An M. Night Shyamalan horror marathon might be a good idea! I know they're not exactly consistent quality, but he's one of those directors with a really obvious style and it would be cool to see your thoughts on them
I’m pretty sure what’s happening in the alien showcase scene in nope is I think the alien was digesting them. At one point you can hear someone say “it burns!”
I was able to go to the set of Us, the Santa Cruz Pier and it was so cool! I went over the summer and I honestly forgot that the movie was even filmed there until I saw a poster that said some of the movies filmed on the pier haha
I think spectacle is supposed to be the answer to “what is a bad miracle?” question. Especially during the flashback to the Gordy incident, it’s implied that lil Jupe was saved by looking away during parts of the attack by looking at Mary Jo’s shoe standing up. It was a spectacle that it happened to be in that position, but also a bad miracle of because of how and why it happened. Also if you look in the very background of the Gordy scene, there’s audience members in the back trying to hide and I just find it so sad how many people were traumatized due to exploration and maybe a lowkey parallel to the audience in adult Jupe’s Star Lasso show.
I don’t mean to correct but I’ve been looking on Nope and seeing that Gordy didn’t hurt Jupe because his eyes were covered by the table cloth. And if he were to truly look into the predators eyes, he would threaten him
Us was the only horror movie that fucked me up. Like I usually can watch a horror movie and go to bed, when I watched Us, I literally could not stop thinking about their smiles
I didn’t expect to see this tonight and I was so excited bc I also love get out and nope, they’re sooo good. I see why not many understand Us but it was scarier than I remembered watching in theaters three years ago lol

Trin... the girls and the gays need you to react to Warrior Nun!! It's literally a show with a secret sect of kickass nuns, terrible puns, AND AMAZING SAPPHIC REPRESENTATION! season 2 dropped yesterday, ik the show is right up ur alley & ur gonna love it
I don’t think there was actually any raw “trust” between Jupe and Gordy simply because they were in the same situation in the show. That could be an interpretation, but it’s mentioned and shown by OJ that there’s ways you should treat an animal and show it respect so that it doesn’t freak out on you. While everyone was screaming and running and looking at Gordy in terror, Jupe was paralyzed in fear under a table. The biggest plot point of this movie was that you shouldn’t look a predator in the eye, and that’s what saved our main cast. When Jupe was under the table, the table cloth was covering his eyes, and that coupled with the fact that he was sat there frozen until he met Gordy’s fist bump, that’s why Gordy didn’t kill him.
Please do Ari Aster next! Similar to Jordan Peele, you'd only have to watch a few movies, and it would be a nice segway into longer videos from more prolific directors.

He don’t come around often but when he do he cooks everytime. Never a bad film.
I love the parallel that Gordy died/ went mad bc of balloons, and also Jean jacket died in a similar way, with the balloon of Jupe
The only reason Gordy didn’t kill jupe was because of the tablecloth. They probably didn’t even fistbump irl I think jupe imagined that and the shoe.
no, it was because the balloons stopped popping and it calmed grody down.
They're being DIGESTED girl! Its fucked, you can hear one of them screaming "it burns" while it's happening.
35:55 the way i interpreted it is that gordy doesn’t kill jupe because the table cloth obscures his eye contact, just like how not making eye contact with jean jacket prevents it from eating you
When you said you haven't seen Us, I literally started dancing in my seat. SUCH a good scary movie. I love watching people watch it!!!
“invalidate yourself with that 😐 invalidate your own feelings with that thought” lmaooo
the sunken place really resonated for me in terms of having frequent dissociation/depersonalization. like that’s exactly how it feels when you get so trapped you can’t do a thing
Media taking a spectacle, no matter what it is, and turning it into entertainment.
omg..
Us is the most terrifying of the trio and I think it’s because it doesn’t have an explanation. Get Out - rich racists who don’t think they’re racists, Nope - an alien from outer space, Us - WHERE DID THOSE PEOPLE COME FROM HAVE THEY ALWAYS BEEN THEIR WHAT IS GOING ON
14:31 SAME I always say just randomly “you know I can’t give you the keys right babe”. Finally someone with the same appreciation for this as me
10:25 they don't usually do the work around the house; when Rose brings someone home they pretend to be the help to keep up the fake appearances. But the rest of the time they are a part of the family. It's just another front to keep him from being suspicious too quickly
i would love if trin started a patreon and uploaded more uncut, longer versions of her videos. idk how patreon is about copyright, but if they’re more lenient than youtube, i would 100% subscribe.
im pretty sure a lot of reaction youtubers use patreon to upload full reactions!! except without showing the actual movie (so u have to set up the movie itself) hope trin considers hehe cos thatd be sick
if you haven’t seen her coraline watch along i recommend that. super fun and makes you feel like you’re watching along with her
i was just about to comment the same thing!!
@@skrrten yes TH-camrs like Pretty Much It have Movie Commentary Tracks that you can sync while watching the movie yourself!
@@justine4581 yea hehe thats who i was thinking of when i wrote the comment!! guess everyone here kinda watches the same circle of youtubers lol :P
Yikes, I didn’t know Tim burton said that.
@@lindseystein9676 yup, he said people of color didn’t fit his aesthetic. its fucked up
@@cometleijon964 that’s messed up
@@hi-lm6cd i know right :(
we hate tim burton wendall & wild is so so good loved IT
My brother and I were the tethered for Halloween this year :)
Also the whole fight between Adelaide and Red was to show how durable Adelaide is.
Seconding this! Pls put it on your list for next Halloween, Trin!
@textthenumberabover........ Sure jan
I think the thing about the parents doing the chores in Get Out was just a facade for Chris
just realized that I already watched every movie he made without intention… loved every single one
no bc the way that monkey scene is the most horrifying thing i’ve ever seen in my life i slept with the lights on for WEEKS
Didn’t notice til now the double meaning of ”crushing it, killing it, being a force of nature” when talking about the Sln skit
My dad brought this theory up to me and I found it very interesting to think about.
trin's lighting setup is incredible , i love the background so much . ITS ALL SO GOOD !!!!
In Get Out the parents were only doing the housework while Chris was there to keep up the front
I loved the outfit changes!!!! Especially the Jupiter park one! I am so glad you did this video, I love analyzing peele movies
I had a fear of monkeys and especially chimpanzees before i even watched Nope, so the movie really did not help 😭.
Oh yeah absolutely obsessed with the background, vibes are immaculate especially with the lights
I like to believe he's alive and they burn the photos but I'm an optimist
trin.. i love hearing you talk about movies. these are my top 3 fave movies of all time and im so happy that you did this. jordan peele is a god
Maturing is realising that regardless of being scared of everything, horror is the best film genre
jordan peele also made candyman with nia dacosta which is also pretty spooky. you should definitely give it watch!
Trin you can’t just tease us with that amazing horror Spotify playlist and not give it to us 😭
her spotify is just trin lovell
@@MoneyHouse3421 bless you child 😂💕
The way this video just opened my third eye about Nope. I love listening to your theories, I didn’t even consider that he might be dead in that last shot 🤨
Obsessed with the background aaaaaaa it’s so PRETTY like the lightning and everything
i really appreciated your commentary on all the movies + all your observations on nope. i also really really appreciate how you broke down the jupiter's claim/gordy's home/star lasso connection, because that's something i heard a lot of people not understanding/getting.
as for a bad miracle, i guess anything that lets you live past an initial horrific incident but completely fucks you over later. like. yeah, you survived but at what cost? which, now that i think about it, could also tie into "yes, em has The Oprah Shot but she's lost her home, her father, the horses, her normal life, and (possibly) her brother." and then there's the fame that's gonna come from her getting the shot in the first place, which - as we all know by now - can be extremely detrimental. she got famous and she survived, but at what cost?
I'm just over here appreciating the backdrop cuz it looks very good and I'm very proud of you for making it look so good
it's directed by henry selick, but peele and him collaborated on the script for wendell and wild and i highly recommend it
I have seen all of Jordans movies. I watched nope recently and it was so freaking good. My favorite is still us right now but nope is right behind it.
i just love all the conversation in the comments, it’s really nice to see how people analyze and perceive these movies.
Trin Lovell at Timestamps 2:00 from what u said...there after. I had to say Hee-hee Heelarious!¡! Shamone... In my Legendary Michael Jackson sangin' voice.
37:34 have you ever been in a bouncy castle that starts deflating and everyone is screaming and trying to get out at the same time before it falls on top of you?
15:08 - is giving Tarzan's "It doesn't seem sanitary to mmee" vibes
“Fuckin’ CW.” Is a quote that will stick with me till I die lol
the grandpa and grandma couldnt live like they were actually party of the family because no one would believe in that kind of relationship so when they have "guests" they have to pretend to be the help and only that (of course they could do chores casually but when daniel arrives its ONLY that) it has to be part of the play and if they had actually family relation in front of the daniel (cant remembrr any character name) it would freak the sh*t out of him, thats why when grandma its a little bit too nosy (something normal for her being who she actually is) they have to reprehend her and treat her like the house cleaner only
An M. Night Shyamalan horror marathon might be a good idea! I know they're not exactly consistent quality, but he's one of those directors with a really obvious style and it would be cool to see your thoughts on them
Didn’t Jordan Peele also help direct Wendell and Wild? Would love to see Trin’s thoughts on it!!
swiftie trin is what i’m here for and idc if she rear ended someone i will stan swiftie trin until the end of time
I’m pretty sure what’s happening in the alien showcase scene in nope is I think the alien was digesting them. At one point you can hear someone say “it burns!”
I was able to go to the set of Us, the Santa Cruz Pier and it was so cool! I went over the summer and I honestly forgot that the movie was even filmed there until I saw a poster that said some of the movies filmed on the pier haha
The amount of times i screamed in theaters during the chimp scenes of NOPE is insane. I scared the people around me in the theater. I was losing it
Bruh
I see why not many understand Us but it was scarier than I remembered watching in theaters three years ago lol
jordan peele and trin lovell? my favourite things to watch when i’m down? this is my new comfort video
If you haven’t already watched all A24 movies you should do a video watching the ones you haven’t watched! WAVES is an A24 movie and one of my all time favorite movies that makes me cry every time. Id love to see you watch it! ✨
I love randomly stumbling across a brand new video
aaahhhhh i love this so much. all of jordan peele movies are incredible, and i loved hearing what you had to say about them! i didn't make some of those connections with the nope movie so that was very eye-opening for me
Trin... the girls and the gays need you to react to Warrior Nun!! It's literally a show with a secret sect of kickass nuns, terrible puns, AND AMAZING SAPPHIC REPRESENTATION! season 2 dropped yesterday, ik the show is right up ur alley & ur gonna love it
Deer = hunters
Rabbits = clones
Chimpanzees = circus? Unusual encounters?
the way u served everything that needed to be served
Similar to Jordan Peele, you'd only have to watch a few movies, and it would be a nice segway into longer videos from more prolific directors.
literally just saw the tiktok !!! the costume is so freaking cool >>>>
yes i love jordan peele’s movies they’re so interesting
please do this with Yorgos Lanthimos' filmography!! (or at least his most famous three- the lobster, the killing of a sacred deer and the favourite)
the accent just flowing naturally for the jupiter costume like it just comes with it!!!
Loved this! You should do the same thing but with Mike Flanagan movies!
you calling chris a “final girl” made me giggle
i love jordan peele's work so so so much! really enjoyed watching this video, you did an incredible job! also, quick question, where did you get all you posters behind you? did you print them yourself or get them from somewhere? i love them so much!
