there have been multiple major shipping issues this year, which I'm sure is partly to blame for the fact that some things got announced much longer before they were released than normal. they did release the same number of codexes this year that they did in 2021 (which was the last AoS release year), so it's not that unexpected.

Well if we assume December will just be the xmas battleforces that leaves 3 months for 3 AoS armies, 2 boxed games - Kill Team and LotR and the rest of the Chaos Old World release.
At least you might get more units and not just some stupid character you have too much of already. The Genestealer cults have so few actual units it's not even funny.
I do wonder how much of this is just accounting for the fact that they’ve had new editions of pretty much everything bar 40K this year (AoS, TOW, Kill Team) and that they’re trying to expand their production facilities. Something has got to give and it makes some sense that it would be 40k for a few months
I get the feeling that when Emperor's Children come out they're gonna get rid of Chaos Demons as a faction and divvy up the demon datasheets into their respective pantheon books. Explains why the only Chaos codex we got so far is CSM
Maybe something WAY worse...keep Daemon as a faction, but take away the army rules🤦🏻♂️ You wanna play Daemon?good, enjoy it without an army rules😏definitely a GW thing🙄
It’s been feeling like something is afoot with the 40k line for a while. I suspect there’s behind the scenes stuff we will probably never know about going on.
If there was something truly crazy going on behind the scenes, there'd probably be a leak about it already. Most major releases and books are leaked after all.
15:00 Malstrain is actually in plastic! still more expensive $pm than buying the normal genestealers, but could be worth it for just running a single 5-man, though I dont know if anyone does that. could probably convert the 6th to a patriarch/broodlord?
There was an article released on Warhammer community today detailing how battletomes would look in the new edition of age of Sigmar. Specifically, there was an emphasis on adding new lore And artwork and to better expand on how each faction feels about their current state in the setting. With multiple written, perspectives both in and out of the faction. the creative team behind 40K is doing something similar. Hopefully refreshing their codexes To be more substantial than the previous ones have been for tenth.
I really hope we aren't waiting a month plus for the blood angel codex to release. It's so frustrating to have the book in my hands and not being able to use it.
So I took a look at 3rd Edition & what transpired during the 6 years of it's reign (of Glory).. 1998 Space Marines Dark Eldar 1999 Blood Angels Dark Angels Chaos Space Marines Imperial Guard Assassins Orks Eldar 2000 Space Wolves Catachans Craftworld Eldar 2001 Tyranids Tau 2002 Necrons 2003 Daemonhunters 2004 Witch Hunters 17 Codices over the course of 6 years - now granted the team(s) are perceived to be a lot larger now, and third edition saw the release of two brand new armies - the Dark Eldar & the Tau, two brand new allied forces in Daemonhunters & Witch Hunters, yet also two complete army redesigns in the Tyranids and Necrons. This list does not include two revised Codices and two "second" Codices, nor does it include Campaign books, which also contained certain force playstyles such as the Ulthwé. Now, we've had in just over a year already 13 Codices released this edition - it's not bad going, having said that.. I would like 10th edition to continue to evolve - stay around longer, much like third. 9th lasted less than 3 years, WAY to short. Essentially; much of the gripe has been with the appalling state of the Indices on release, zigzag e-sports mentality rules balancing based on Meta-players and a clear A/B team writing the rules. Sort that, keep 10th around for a bit so we all get a chance to enjoy our books.
10th is a gakshow with 0 soul or charm. All the flavour of every faction has been torn out in favour of being "competitive focused". The game has become beyond boring and dull, with barely any uniqueness between lists. Detachments are just pants-on-head lazy vs. 9th's army traits, which at least applied an army rule *to your entire army instead of just a handful of spammed units* 10th is a dumpster fire. Let it burn!
Although I like the idea of more Krieg miniatures, I think I'd have liked best to have an updated Tempestus Scions kit, a new version of the catachan box and maybe a light infantry kit like Tanith. That way they could transition from "specific planets units" to something more like a light infantry scout unit (scout and/or infiltration), a line infantry unit , a veteran unit and a Death World veteran unit (CQC and scout). One can dream, but I don't think any of these would come true.
I’m curious what a Tau battleforce would look like if we get one. Battleforces tend to have around 2 center pieces and Kroot don’t have a big centerpiece right now so a 100% Kroot battleforce wouldn’t work. Maybe a mix of Kroot, a Riptide, a hammerhead, a crisis suit team with a commander and fire warriors?
I hope they stretch 10th edition 1-2 years. It seems like a lot of people are happy with balance. The Aeldari for next year will be my next army I hope. It was my first collection 28 years ago and would be fun to revisit.
GW confuse me. Between butchering my wallet with price hikes and then...not making rules for my army? Heroscape just rereleased, I'm going back to that game. Roughly x10 cheaper and you don't have to buy rules seperately
To be honest....the drip feed of codex's and the constant changing of the editions really puts me off from getting into the game. Ive been on the outskirts for years buying models but not buying into the game system because it seems like you can go years before you can actually "have fun" with army. it really is off putting to have such constant changes. Ive been thinking about getting into HH but there are already rumors of a new edition and its just to much.
imo if you want to get into the hobby to play the game dont do it unless you have an actual community to play it with. could just stick to tabletop simulator otherwise
Wahapedia is completely free bud. If youve two teams(or more) of models you can play as long as youve dice. No need even for an opponent, be both sides. The pessimism of others is stopping you from enjoying yourself
@@RMCbreezyFor sure. I play games against myself all the time. Usually whenever I have a new unit to run. Its really helped my perspective I think. If so, I'm a fellow thoosie😂
GW’s codex release schedule is ridiculous. It’s absolutely inexcusable that a company that pulls in the money they do is so slow at producing codexes to the point that people get their codexes just a couple months before a new edition. ALL codexes should be released within a year of a new edition. If they can’t do that, then the new edition isn’t ready.
I’m hoping that the big chaos release is going to be an army versus army box. Sometimes those are great & sometimes they’re meh, but they are typically a good value.
Yeah especially since there's a lot of Renegade House players out there who have everything magnetized and run both armies. Plus they're both in the same Index.
@@oneeyedwonderer6781 Yeah I get that but they have to know at this point that it's decisions like that driving people to pirate rules or migrate to other games.
@@captaincorundum9788 Yeah I know you can't run them at the same time. I just meant both the free Index and the cards were one download or one purchase called Knight Households
I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't linked to a resource issue within GW HQ - oddly enough, earlier this year, I happened to have a nose at their jobs and there was a load of product design jobs including the senior product manager for a major product line, could be a coincidence and one or two people doesn't make a team, but with no head lead maybe there was no one really steering the ship and keeping them on track and if they advertised that means they might not have felt they could promote from within.
It's frustrating they didn't go over this during the show and outline some of this a bit better. Really fills in the calendar from now through 2025 when you fully see how much is still pending release. And we could maybe see two different Kill Team boxes in 2024 still.
I know its a silly dream that will never come true, but i hope this means we get a longer 10th edition cycle than the standart 3 years. Some stability would be much apprechiated.
Honestly, I wonder if they just didn't update their roadmap. Their last roadmap had other codices releasing this year obviously, but probably the weirdest part was that the Old World roadmap said the Dwarfs were releasing later this year... which obviously isn't the case, since I got my Dwarfs about a month ago.
Two random theories for the delayed codices, although not confident about either of them. First is that they retooling things downstream. I've heard that they usually have the books printed six months ahead release, so I could see them wanting to really take a moment and think about how the game is playing at the moment before coming out with the less played armies. That way they can stretch the 10th Edtion while also figuring out how to make those armies more appealing. Although the downside of that is that it is hurting armies like the Wolves where people are putting investing them off as they are waiting for the new models. The second theory is that GW realized how messy the Sigmar release was for multitude of reasons and want to put some resources in giving that game and the upcoming books there more room to shine.
@@gstellar96 They first released Old World earlier in the year that competed with the same audience, then they put the focus on their first release more on Spearhead than the main game. All the while rolling out the WH40K material which draws much more attention. It was just a weird stumble all around.
@@toniviskari417 I wouldn't say that OW and AoS share the same audience. Ofc there are people who enjoy or compare both (because they are both fantasy settings, altough one of them is much more epic/heroic?) but there is a huge difference between them. Most people I know don't even want to think about AoS while they really enjoy OW and oldhammer in general.
@@JamesEarlCash I don't they have a 1:1 share, but I do feel it would be weird to pretend that there isn't a meaningful overlap there. Regardless of what your friend circle thinks about the game, which isn't even to touch that AoS is pretty popular? The issue is marketing because both are selling fantasy miniature warfare, even if with different flavors.
I don't think that's really possible, given that the books have to be printed and shipped from China. They're not exactly being delivered by express courier hot off the presses. As long as GW insists on selling rules on dead trees, releasing a digital file the day of release is a pretty reasonable way to make last-minute changes.
What needs to happen is at least a management of expectations Of course we can't expect a codex every month but the amount of issues in current Edition (scalpers, out of production units, people having units locked out of their codex with new releases re-classing them) to just say "oh we are only doing codexs next year and nothing for 4 months" without even hinting at any housekeeping feels very hollow
It feels like the long gap is to prepare for the Guard and Eldar codex's. These two factions will likely have a bunch of new models. The Eldar alone have like 20+ outdated models. Pretty much all the Phoenix Lords need to be redone at some point.
please give us poll and ask when would we like to see 11th edition. 3 years, 4 years, 5 years later, or only after all codex are released with at least 8-9 months from the final one.
I more onserve 40k, than anything else, but I still feel like it is weird them not wanting to hit the holiday season hard, and drop new, appealing things, in a time frame when more people typically have those extra dollars, and extra willingness to part with them for frivolous things; either for themselves, or friends and family. And I'm not saying GW isn't already planning to rake in bank, over Christmas, but it seems like dropping in new Guard, and/or Eldar, would help with that. Guard can be an historically expensive faction to collect, and Eldar aren't much better, with the weight on Aspect Warriors, and each box of them costing more than "average troops", and holidays are the disposable income part of the year. As for them, I'm both very excited, and a bit scared, for these two books coming out, finally. Guard and Eldar have probably been my favorite factions since 2005, looking down upon Grey Knights, Thousand Sons, and Sisters, and with the 10e track record for codices, I'm not sure if they'll rock, or be little more than a bag of rocks? Guard aren't lighting the world on fire, and they have taken several massive nerfs, and reconfigurations, since the edition started, but they've also, with just one detachment, done better than most Imperium factions. Space Wolves have at least 1+ as many options as Compliant Astartes, and they play one, maybe two ways. Dark Angels...they've only gotten better recently. Space Marines, in general, are supposed to swoop in, and save the beleaguered Guard from fights they can't win, and carry the IP, but they were busy circling the drain, and we can't expect huge gains from Imperial Agents book, which kind of leaves the Imperium held up by Sisters, and Guard, who have managed to do a lot with one detachment. Will their new detachments keep that up? Will the general purpose one get diced up to make a Tsnks one, and an Infantry one, and lose them their flexibility? We'll have to wait and see. For the Eldar, it's a bit of the same, but since they were torn down from their lofty heights, I guess I'm more interested in what new things they'll get. I still hope for plastic Shadow Spectres, instead of them being relegated to Legends, but they're firmly in the camp of not getting used, again, it seems, so they might now be able to afford to ignore them, in favor of older, less interesting, but more iconic, Aspects, and some still desperately need a plastic refresh. I wonder if their detachments will follow Ctafteorld themes, like Astartes did, or more slices, like Sisters, and Blood Angels, but I don't expect they'll do amazing; GW typically LIKES to keep them in a slightly less capable spot, compared to say Astartes, Orks, or Nids.
Hopefully this is because that new Game Design head is taking over and they're making some changes that interrupted the release cycle. Which hopefully means that we won't get any more Codexes like AdMech and Custodes. Conveniently for GW, it also lets them highlight AoS and attempt to bring in more players.
I am curious if the gap between now and January is to allow for a larger range of internal play testing of a number of Kodex is that have not released thus they can rapidly release them before the end of 10th 10th
I hope WG use the gap to restructure how codex are made, so rules are 100% digital with the option to print from app and the Codex are just lore, gallery and digital code to unlock rules.
honestly i i bet it's because of the last few codices and boxes just not seeling well. oh what do i mean oh you can STILL get the 3 Agents battleforces in the USA and even the blood angels one OFF THEIR OWN WEBSITE. i think they're delaying everything to proof read all the codices and crosscheck all the new models to make ABSOLUTELY SURE they're good and not just "golden intercessors" again. which yknow what fine! the last few have been so bare-minimum and bad i GENUINLY want Votann to be dead last, just so they have the most time cooking.
I wish we'd get 5 year or 6 years cycles. Hell it takes some folks a year to paint an army which means they miss 33% of an edition and multiple nerfs and buffs before even getting it to a table
I think 10e needs to last 4 or 5 years if they want to have a game with nearly 30 factions and release 8-10 codexes a year. I'm new, so I lack perspective, but the core rules of 10e are pretty solid so far.
My theory is GW underestimated demand for the combat patrol subscription and dont have enough warehouse stock to accommodate it. Now their already overtaxed production capacity is being killed making old combat partols in order to complete the contract.
Several months from november last year to feb? this year involved a huge warehouse upgrade. It might be that production was basically nil. now we are seeing it bleed through
Genuinely curious if the gap might be the result of either production issues (it's no secret stock levels have been a problem for awhile now) or how poorly recieved many of the 10th Ed Codices have been.
Its going to be at least a year before the votann get there codex. The writing was on the wall soon as the announced the crusade rules are going in white dwarf.
@@peters6345 it doesn't matter if there's strong, the issue is people get bored of playing the exact same rules for 2 years :/ having a codex is important for variety and interesting builds. GW telling me I'm not getting a codex for at least a year, could even be 2, has killed all my desire to play

I can't believe we are not getting more Leagues of Votann this year, is crazy how long is taking them to give ppl more units and lore
Right? My lady needs models, who tf wants the same 6 units over and over?
At least we got a book coming, for the lore side of things
At least you might get more units and not just some stupid character you have too much of already.
The Genestealer cults have so few actual units it's not even funny.
Their wave two is gonna be dope af
I do wonder how much of this is just accounting for the fact that they’ve had new editions of pretty much everything bar 40K this year (AoS, TOW, Kill Team) and that they’re trying to expand their production facilities. Something has got to give and it makes some sense that it would be 40k for a few months
can't help but feel something's off/ wrong at Lenton HQ..
I get the feeling that when Emperor's Children come out they're gonna get rid of Chaos Demons as a faction and divvy up the demon datasheets into their respective pantheon books. Explains why the only Chaos codex we got so far is CSM
That would kill greater deamons. WE running with angron, skar, and a bloodthirster
The only issue with that is Be'lakor would have no place to go unless they errata him into CSM
Maybe something WAY worse...keep Daemon as a faction, but take away the army rules🤦🏻♂️
You wanna play Daemon?good, enjoy it without an army rules😏definitely a GW thing🙄
@masterolimario simple fix: legends! Everyones favorite
@@masterolimario Daemons could end up being a Agents of the Imperium style book, meant to be used as allies rather than full on armies.
Or if you’re a chaos kitbashing gremlin, you could proxy them as accursed cultists in a genestealer themed csm army
New edition of MESBG releasing soon too, probably around when anime drops
I for one embrace the gap. Gives us some room to breath.
I'm hoping that this extends the lifespan of the edition

17 Codices over the course of 6 years - now granted the team(s) are perceived to be a lot larger now, and third edition saw the release of two brand new armies - the Dark Eldar & the Tau, two brand new allied forces in Daemonhunters & Witch Hunters, yet also two complete army redesigns in the Tyranids and Necrons.
9th's army traits, which at least applied an army rule *to your entire army instead of just a handful of spammed units*
10th is a dumpster fire.
I wish they took this break before the blood angels release
Welcome to AoS when 10th dropped. One full codex between the end of June and 2024.
yea, for 40k fans is a GAP cause only 40k exist lol
Nobody cares about AoS
@@DemonSnakeBd and people like you is the reason why gw put no effort on 40k to be honest
@@DemonSnakeBd You are a prime example why the AoS players seem to be the more chilled fun dudes compared to the 40k players. :P
October 2027 is the 40th anniversary of 40K - I could see 11th edition being delayed a year to be a part of the 40 years of 40K celebrations.
Road gap? Release schedule feels like 2005 in here!
nice prediction for the christmas boxes, saving my coins for the dark angles, bit sad that my new space drawf seems to be forgotten by g dubs somehow
My gut tells me that we're basically just going to be getting a bunch of different individual models / units. By a bunch I mean like three
I am coping with the lul in output by using time to catch up on my pile of shame
I for one is happy that they slow the pace a bit. ⏰
They should really extend the timeframe per edition aswell.
Everybody : Cannot wait to see what we get for holidays!!! GW:
Got into Eldar recently, post the broken stuff. Excited for a versatile codex whenever it comes.
GW confuse me. Between butchering my wallet with price hikes and then...not making rules for my army?
Heroscape just rereleased, I'm going back to that game. Roughly x10 cheaper and you don't have to buy rules seperately
Rip my deathwatch i just finished painting it 3 weeks ago
Every move I make I get to go to the other side of the table and think about it from my opponents view.
Also curious, is the RMC in your name for Rocky Mountain Construction?
If so, I'm a fellow thoosie😂
@@carysage haha no its something from when i was a dumb teenager. Whats a thoosie?
@@RMCbreezy Hahaha. Roller Coaster Enthusiast.
Let’s be honest with ourselves, knights could’ve just been one codex. For both imperial and chaos.
Yeah especially since there's a lot of Renegade House players out there who have everything magnetized and run both armies.
Plus they're both in the same Index.
But why have to sell one codex when you can sell people two
@@oneeyedwonderer6781 Yeah I get that but they have to know at this point that it's decisions like that driving people to pirate rules or migrate to other games.
@@carysage They're.... not in the same index. Their cards are sold together, but their indices are different.
@@captaincorundum9788 Yeah I know you can't run them at the same time. I just meant both the free Index and the cards were one download or one purchase called Knight Households
So as a new player I probably should finish my painting and make the most of my codex since it’s already out!
Re: Battleforces, neither Adeptus Mechanicus or Necrons got special releases with their codex releases - higher odds for a holiday release?
They already have a wonderful Admech box that just came to HH. I say they just give that one 40k Datasheets.
I know its a silly dream that will never come true, but i hope this means we get a longer 10th edition cycle than the standart 3 years.
Some stability would be much apprechiated.
I can’t wait for this year’s christmas battleforces to be the same contents of the original combat patrol just for double the price!
I mean...we aren't getting any more codex releases, but we've all got a few months to save up for Christmas boxes, which is nice
What exactly was messy about the AoS release?
The AoS release was cleaner than 10th edition 😂
@@JamesEarlCash I don't they have a 1:1 share, but I do feel it would be weird to pretend that there isn't a meaningful overlap there. Regardless of what your friend circle thinks about the game, which isn't even to touch that AoS is pretty popular?
The issue is marketing because both are selling fantasy miniature warfare, even if with different flavors.
Thank god I can concentrate on the stuff I already have
My hope with the Codex Gap, is they rework "in pipe" Codices to not require 0-day corrections.
I don't think that's really possible, given that the books have to be printed and shipped from China. They're not exactly being delivered by express courier hot off the presses. As long as GW insists on selling rules on dead trees, releasing a digital file the day of release is a pretty reasonable way to make last-minute changes.
What needs to happen is at least a management of expectations
Of course we can't expect a codex every month but the amount of issues in current Edition (scalpers, out of production units, people having units locked out of their codex with new releases re-classing them) to just say "oh we are only doing codexs next year and nothing for 4 months" without even hinting at any housekeeping feels very hollow
It feels like the long gap is to prepare for the Guard and Eldar codex's. These two factions will likely have a bunch of new models. The Eldar alone have like 20+ outdated models. Pretty much all the Phoenix Lords need to be redone at some point.
Mad Max: Gap Warrior
please give us poll and ask when would we like to see 11th edition. 3 years, 4 years, 5 years later, or only after all codex are released with at least 8-9 months from the final one.
Just make 10th a longer edition then, make sure 11th is polished before release
I think this is because they don't want to mess up Christmas. So they are going to be focusing the factory on ramping up production.
The first book about Leagues of Votann - "The High Kâhl's Oath" is slated for release on November 1st, 2024, which is Friday. Just sayin'...
Well hope the Christmas boxes are good (and leaked soon so I can budget)
Cool, didn't want a Drukhari codex this year anyway!
My local Warhammer store STILL has multiple copies of the sisters battleforce box, GSC, Kroot Box and the agents boxes.
I wish we'd get 5 year or 6 years cycles. Hell it takes some folks a year to paint an army which means they miss 33% of an edition and multiple nerfs and buffs before even getting it to a table
I’m just glad I get my guard codex before the end of the edition
I think 10e needs to last 4 or 5 years if they want to have a game with nearly 30 factions and release 8-10 codexes a year. I'm new, so I lack perspective, but the core rules of 10e are pretty solid so far.
GW heard us say that there needs to be a gap between the codexes and the next edition. Then they put it in the middle of the edition.
My theory is GW underestimated demand for the combat patrol subscription and dont have enough warehouse stock to accommodate it. Now their already overtaxed production capacity is being killed making old combat partols in order to complete the contract.
So...what I'm hearing as a Drukhari player is that there's more time for GW to develop a dedicated "tank" or "knight" equivelant for us?
Another hit of reality is this year only has 4 months left
I love it how the Eldar server was celebrating about the roadmap.
Sorry, I´m not sure if I understood correctly (Eng. ain´t my first language) - will there be anoter Kroot unit, box or something kroot related?
I am excited for this year Christmas boxes cuz last years most of em were good except space marine one. We dont talk about the space marine one
That mystery codex/reveal was such a letdown too.
I thought at first, when seing the video thumbnail, no more Primaris Lieutenants tik 2025!
Does this mean your channel is screwed? I love seeing your news updates.
Nah he’ll still make videos about the most random garbage out there.
Its going to be at least a year before the votann get there codex. The writing was on the wall soon as the announced the crusade rules are going in white dwarf.
I'm delighted. I have Ynarri, and all the space elves. Now I can save up and paint the greay pile of shame. Delay them more please, GW.!
@TallTaleGael Piss off, mate. Get out of the 40k community if you are going to behave like a tit, yet again.
I guess the one silver lining with 10th is some of the index armies are decently strong. That being said I'm getting bored with 10th ..
@@peters6345 it doesn't matter if there's strong, the issue is people get bored of playing the exact same rules for 2 years :/ having a codex is important for variety and interesting builds. GW telling me I'm not getting a codex for at least a year, could even be 2, has killed all my desire to play

1 codex in 3 months was the standard for twenty odd years until GW realised they could make more money by rushing them out and resetting the game as soon as they were done
Yeah, but its a bit galling when the only depth in 10th edition comes from picking detachments but half of the game have to make do with a mediocre index instead of having a whole previous codex to play with.
@@Dorsidwarf yeah it would be cool if they handed out an extra detachment for some of the index factions or something like that to tide them over until the codex
