- In this episode a ferry comes out of nowhere and I have to make a quick decision and stick with it. Also, while on anchor a tree floats past the catamaran and makes me wonder if one will hit the boat while we sleep.

Hey!! That was totally the plan and my laptop started messing up. It’s old and I need a new one but am in a rather odd desert situation at the moment. Once I make it back to civilization I’ll get it sorted. Sitting on a bunch of lithium batteries now though!
@@9to5less really sorry to hear your stuck far out somewhere, nice to hear your getting upgrades for the boat though , you could potentially ask an editor to help you with your video's , exporting video's is way easier on old hardware than rendering video's .... there may even be a fan willing to do it for you , personally i would ask on a video if anyone wants to be your editor ... just an idea , hopefully helps you out :-)
I was really thinking about looking for an editor. I’ll see. Hoping I can get somewhere and hunker down for a couple weeks and knock it all out. I’ll see how the laptop does once it thaws out

I would be wearing a life jacket. I fell overboard and learned my lesson.
It took every drop of energy to keep swimming keeping my head above water. In the 10 minutes it took to turn around and the 3 minutes to actually grab me, i almost drowned.
Never again. I bought a nice life jacket that i wear anytime Im in water about my waist.

@@9to5less i was so suffocated for air, and chocking on water in my throat, that later the blood vessels in my eyes had burst. Once my clothing was wet they felt like a lead weight. I have never been so panicked in my life.
@@rev.jimjonesandthekool-aid4488 If you are going to be on water you really should learn how to float. All of my kids have taken ISR (INFANT SWIMMING RESOURCE) which teaches them how to float on water with no effort. You can do it as an adult too. Just search it up and check it out. Edit, failed to mention the last day to pass the class they must float in winter clothes and shoes, and a jacket with hoodie....so its a life saver.
I’ve mentioned wearing a life jacket on several occasions. At least they’re still alive.
When I was a kid, many many years ago, the sailing club I was part of had a requirement that before anyone went out (crew or skipper) in the dingy race you had to swim the length of the launch beach (~50 meters) fully clothed and no life jacket (in waist deep water, so if you couldn't you just stood up, totally safe) to prove you could if needed, but life jackets were a requirement for racing as well. So I know exactly what you mean about the clothes being like lead, now I sail with clothes that don't hold the water, for exactly this reason, i'm no longer any where near as fit as I was as a kid.
A few pulleys and rope you can make a steering wheel or some type of rope pulley steering

I was looking for a wrecked/hurricane damaged Cat to convert to an all electric but cannot leave NZ now to locate/buy one. Ill be really interested to see how you get on with the Solar conversion. Have you thought about rigging up a steering wheel and throttle controls for the boat? That way you could put in a chair and it would make those long days a lot easier. There are a lot of fairly easy ways to diy a steering setup for cheap that still look good and are functional

If you are concerned about trees hitting your motor you can tilt is up out of the water just like you did when you were cleaning it.
