If your dog, which is already much more conscious than a fetus, was under a lot of pain because it was ill, you wouldn't want to let it suffer, would you?
Likewise, a woman who simply does not have enough resources, wouldn't want a baby to have to suffer by having an unprepared parent raise them, or their child to go hungry because she can't afford to feed both of them. Or if she decides to give it up for adoption, that child will have to grow up with no parents if no one wants to adopt them.
Those who have to resort to abortion typically do so because they aren't unfit to be parents yet, or ever. Would you really want a child to be raised by someone like that?

I'll never forget going to the clinic with my friend who was raped in college, and people outside pleading us not to do it. PLEADING! I'll never forget her coming out from her room and heading out to go home when she threw up from the anxiety, adrenaline and utter pain. She felt everything and nothing. As I drove her home she was crying the entire time. Her 16 year old best friend had to witness the whole thing and I will never forget. She felt bad because they people outside harassed her. I remember her feeling sick for a couple days and I had to watch the whole thing, watch her go through everything and I couldn't do anything but comfort her. It was horrifying how bad people can be

If you're not ready to have kids then don't, you shouldn't feel ashamed for not feeling anything at all, you don't have to have a monumental reason either, if it just happens it does, and you move on.

I have been with my boyfriend for four years. Im 21 and hes 25. We use condoms and i take the pill. If i ever get pregnant despite all the precautions, i feel like i should have the right to have a choice to keep the baby, put him/her up for adoption or abort. I shouldnt be obligated to suffer harsh consequences because i want to live a full, healthy and passionate relationship with my future husband.

I'm happy my mother had an abortion. She was 18, living in a crowded apartment with her boyfriend and his roommates. She had nowhere else to go. Her parents lived in a shelter. She and her roommates struggled for money. They didn't know whether they'd have lights or dinner tomorrow. They took precautions, and she still became pregnant. They drove to the capital and she had an abortion. They drove home in silence. My mother grew up in the deep south, and is very Christian. But she saw this as the best option. They wouldn't be able to pay medical bills; she was working at a retail store and he was getting his certificate. They were young and immature, they wouldn't be able to raise a child. They lived in a poor apartment, where would they keep this baby? How could they feed it? 20 years later. They are married now and have two children. My father owns a company and we live a comfortable middle class life. We are well fed, well raised, and well cared for. If they hadn't done what they did, chances are that things would be much different. I'm happy my mother had an abortion.

For all the pro-lifers out there: Being pro-choice doesn't necessarily mean being pro-abortion. Being pro-choice can mean respecting a woman's right to her body. Abortion is one of the only procedure that people want to ban, and the one of the only ones that includes a person giving up the right to their body. Cancer patients can choose not to do chemo, people dying of heart disease can continue dying of heart disease if they want. Point number two is (keep in mind that these are scientific facts, not my opinions) is that: 1. Fetuses aborted before the legal cutoff have no nerve endings, meaning they cannot feel anything. 2. Fetuses cannot tell what is happening to them. 3. They will not kick, scream, cry, or move in any other way if aborted before the legal cutoff. I respect your opinions, but keep in mind, while all cells once held life, nobody's ever been lynched for exfoliating.

It should ALWAYS be the woman's choice. Imagine carrying around a baby that you're not ready for and don't want. What if a 14 year old girl gets raped? You believe she should be forced to deliver a baby that will hurt her so much to have and probably put a huge blocker in the way of her education.

i love this, it shows a perspective where the woman isnt supposed to feel so guilty and depressed just like how in school we are taught that we are supposed to feel that way. this is awesome and not outdated
I like how they showed how, even though women most definitely should have this decision, they showed how morally and emotionally crushing it feel in the moment. It's very sad, which is why both men and women need to take proper precautions, so they dont have to go through these kinds of things.
Pregnancy is a very emotional topic and so is abortion. An abortion sometimes has to kill a trace of life to save the mother's life. I don't think abortion is a topic to handle and talk about so casually. Many women, especially young ones don't have a free choice about it, not even in Germany where abortions are legal until 8 weeks and only if the women had a consultation where the alternatives and procedures are explained to her. Yet still women are pushed towards an abortion by their families (or vice versa) and don't have the support they needed to cope with the incident. Some can never be happy with their decision. In my opinion, though, killing a ball of cells which doesn't yet have any conciousness or feelings is better than letting it grow into an unwanted person.

+Baylix I was never in the situation so I don't know the tricks and nuances. Maybe, if you realize it later, they have a tolerance of a few days. They can determine how long you are actually pregnant via ultrasound and I guess that it's the doctor's responsibility then to send you to an abortion clinic before the 8 weeks pass.

I'm support a woman's decision to choose, but I hate how this made it look like getting an abortion is no big deal. The emotions behind deciding to get an abortion have to be so much more complex then finding out you are pregnant, calling and scheduling the abortion, talking to your cable company to sort out your cable, having the abortion done, then going home to hang out like nothing happened. I know it's a cell, but those cells become so much more than that and deserve a little more emotion.
Not everyone is going to react the same, this video was v accurate for me. You try not letting those emotions confuse you, control you. It wasn't showing that it was easy. You saw her trying to continue her life, trying not to let it get to her. She's just as strong as the women who cry their hearts out
I think part of the point of this was to destigmatize abortions. Like this is how it should go down, this is how easy it should be ya know?
If I acted like it was a big deal, then I would never get an abortion. But that's just me and my own coping mechanism. If I think about it, then comes tears and panic and regret and doubt and self hate. Some people can act like it's a big deal but turn out fine in the end. Some people don't because it'll eat them alive. Just because you think it's the wrong attitude doesn't mean it's the right one... it's okay that you'd make it a big deal and mourn for three weeks and it's also okay for someone else to mourn by getting milkshakes. No human is the same.
It's not any more complicated than finding out, calling, and making an appointment.
It is no big deal to most people. Just the same as you can't control whether a woman gets an abortion or not, you can't control how she feels about it. You're not the Thought Police.

As someone who has experienced a pregnancy scare, this video is something I think is VERY important- it shows that in the end, an abortion seems scary but you can have a friend to help you through, and usually the recovery time is pretty good! It also lets people know who feel mixed emotions after an abortion that they are not alone, and every reaction is normal. Bravo to Boldly for making something so relatable to such a large percentage of women!! :) Anyone who is going through a pregnancy scare probably finds comfort in seeing someone go through the process and come out on the other side still okay.
really loved this video and how it took the shame out of abortion. also I liked how they showed how important friendship is at a time like that. her friend didn't shame her she supported her and understood her and did everything in her power not to stress her out and make matters worse. plus the blonde girl wasn't casual about it she was numb. not everyone goes straight to freaking out or being upset.
her friend should've encouraged her not to have an abortion. that's what a real friend would've done... she could've been happy for her and changed her mind

Thank you so much for this video. When I had an abortion at the age of 19 I had no one there for me. The few people I did tell judged me and ended up not being my friend anymore. I felt alone and guilty which no woman should have to feel. I hope this video helps others that feel lost to know that they are not alone and there are people out there who will love and support you.
