    A good alternative to the old Monogram kit that also has little cockpit detail.

    Pretty cool for wargaming - where you want to get a unit of several similar models out - fast and consistent - and spend 90% of your time focused on the painting / weathering
    HobbyBoss kits are quite solid and robust too - so they can take a few bumps
    Don't get me wrong - I love a challenging build that takes a lot of planning and time to get a result, but sometimes I like to get a mass of units out quickly too.

    I really like HB easy build kits - kind of like a modern Matchbox. I have their Buffalo (converting it into an RAF version) on the bench at the moment and it's a great little kit - yes I've had to do a bit of scratch-building in the cockpit but it's a really fun little model, especially for £7!
    This Bearcat looks nice actually, I may well have to pick one up. I can see a lot of them being built with the release of the film Devotion. Thanks for the video.

    I have the Hobby Boss 1/48 F8F-1B Bearcat. I got this kit because I have always liked the look of the Bearcat, nice tubby beast. This kit comes with two interesting marking schemes, French Air Force 1954, presumably used in Indo-China, and also, very unusual Royal Thai Air force, early 1960. The kit wasn't expensive and looks fairly easy to build

    Beetle Bomb is the US Navy Blue Angels solo aerobatic aircraft and yes the proper colour is Yellow from the colour photographs of the aircraft included in a Grumman Company history book that I have. At the time the rest of the team flew in Blue Angel Blue( lighter than the Dark Sea Blue of standard service aircraft) which is the Colour of the Navy flight suit at the time. The 0 on the tail indicates the display opener performer and CO of the Unit,all other aircraft are numbered 1-9. It also did a mock dogfight display routine against an SNJ( T-6 Texan).

    • @Chilly_Billy
      @Chilly_Billy ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think it is. There are a few clues that confirm this is not the old Monogram. Most important is how the fuselage is assembled. The Monogram kit used traditional fuselage halves and the "push through" wings typical of their kits of the era.This one uses top and bottom fuselage parts with the wings already attached.

    I'd love to see a version in 1:32 scale of this plane. As you said, most underrated an under covered subject.
