I have a question. I believe “this” passage means exactly what you just interpreted. These things are what “that man” had in his heart. Does these principles apply to each and everyone of us as well?
(Making it personal) If “my” heart is in the right place, meaning “Godly Thoughts” Would I be what my heart thinks as well, or wouldn’t I? The man in the story had bad negative thoughts. What if a person have good positive thoughts? I’m just wanting to know how to properly apply these principles to me personally.
    Thanks for your time:
    Dwayne

I'll never eat food serve by enemies. It would make me stain my dignity and what I keep for will be in vain.

Great word Pastor. As he thinks in his heart so is he. Lord help me to think more positive as I work on becoming more humble. When I encounter a bad host.

This makes sense and is a great example of a proper way to read and understand scripture. I do believe that for the Christian, there is power through grace in setting our minds on the finished work of Christ in us. And this for bountiful living of every kind but this verse is not one of those. Whenever I see someone focusing on part A of a verse I’m wondering that it may be taking the verse out of context. Well meaning people do this but we need to be wise and gracious in discerning what is true.

I would suggest that Proverbs 23:7 teaches us that optimism & pessimism share this in common: both are a placebo. 😉👍Amen

Praise God for new mercies and forgiveness of sins known and unknown each morning! I bind myself to think that with God by my side I can face this world and my responsibilities, binding to hell thinking I am no good for nothing, in accordance with this word and proverbs 23:7 in the name and blood of Jesus Christ, amen and hallelujah ❤!
