  • This layout features automatic train operations, random destinations, collision control, automatic switches and signals, speed control, sound, boom barriers, wifi controlled components and much more.
    GERMAN VERSION AVAILABLE!
    Since I have uploaded the video, many things have happened. In the meanwhile, we have designed and implemented an even more advanced train automation system for the LEGO train system. All info: www.mattzobricks.com. Enjoy!

    Amazing!! This is one of the coolest Lego projects I have seen on TH-cam. Great work, congratulations...How-to videos would be great as one user commented :)

      Hi Omer, thanks! I am planning to do produce a lot of how-to's in the future. The point is, that we are presently changing our automation platform completely, because nControl has shown too many problems and limitations. When the new platform is working, I try to find the find to publish how to do this stuff even if you are not an expert in software development and railway automation. Stay tuned, and thanks for your patience!

    What an awesome layout! I really wish 4DBrix products were still available but it's cool to at least see videos of their stuff in action 🙂

    I like much it, how do you do to set a track color in the software?

    • @mattzobricks
      @mattzobricks  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Lego Empire,
      I knew that this question would come sooner or later. :-) You are obviously someone who knows the details... :-)
      We have been working with a special version of nControl that is not publicly available. This special version allows coloring tracks. I am using it to indicate which track segments are presently allocated and occupied by what trains.
      The more interesting part in nControl is of course the additional software in the background. nControl as such is a pretty dumb platform, and has no clue about train positions, track definitions, routes etc. It is more or less just a platform that allows sending data to actors and receiving data from sensors. To make nControl smarter, we have created around 1500 lines of code in Python. The extension covers for train management, definition of track segments, calculating and allocating routes from A to B, collision control, braking trains slowly ahead of red signals, setting randomized destination after a train has remained for some time in a station, some security functions and much more to make this all work.
      The automated layout is working great as you see in the video. Anyway, our finding was in the end, that nControl is not stable and powerful enough to serve as a computing base for our future projects. We have already terminated our nControl activities. After that, 4DBrix has now shut down its business activities, so our decision was quite good, I suppose.
      We have already identified our next platform, and are working on it. The opportunities and options with the new platform will be a lot better than what we had so far. We are really excited about what we are presently building here.
      Stay tuned for more!

      @@mattzobricks Thanks for the answer, I had noticed that on my version it was not possible to color the tracks but I thought I had missed something, I also noticed the little utility of the software and I was thinking about how to solve, I will continue to follow you

    *@MattzoBricks* yes great what you built together. I think that will be very interesting to think of something like that for my 9V cause. Everything to automate. How long is the total train route? I'm about to go there too. I want to break the #worldrecord on this subject. can you write in the comments what you think of it I would be happy. In any case, you have my subscription from today. I look forward to reading from you! #kauftschienen #genaialestuning

    Amazing! Really a masterpiece! Do the trains have a speaker *onboard* for the sound?

      @mattzobricks  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, it was great fun building it, but also a lot of work... :-) The trains do not have speakers on-board, but I plan to do it some day. If you are interested in the future development of this automation stuff, make sure you subscribe to my channel and check mattzobricks.com regularly!

    How does it work? Do you use censors or reed-contacts between the tracks, or is it totally computer controled? How can a train chose its direction?
