I actually joined an alliance server once because I wanted some easy loot and rep with no fear of losing it. I hated every minute of it. These servers are full of people who are control freaks. They have so many god damn rules that you can’t even play the game. Seriously. Let’s say you wanted to run Athena but there’s already a ship running Athena. These losers will tell you that you can’t and that if you do, you’ll never be allowed to participate again. Moral of the story, either just do Safer Seas or play the game normally because alliance servers aren’t about fun, it’s about making SoT a job.
Not to mention, I've heard these people will go out of their way to mass report you if you happen to step out of line and/or turn on them, framing you as a griefer and getting you potentially permanently banned from the whole damn game unless you can back yourself up to Rare. Sounds way worse than any PVP encounter I've dealt with so far.

Alliance servers are unironically awful and are run by people who want the game to only be about money rather than role playing as a pirate.

I am currently hot trash at PVP as I've only been playing and learning the game for about a month, but I'm willing to hone my skills as a controller solo slooper to at least have a chance to experience defeating a potential ambush. I see no reason to cheese them since they serve no other purpose but to look cool and I can't hold them in real life. Bruh i encountered a guy named CPYKI and called his ship "CP Dreadnaught" and when he was on the forms didn't know what CP is used for like a fucking dingus idiot as his initials were that XD cause he was a top Killer Instinct player too and got his XBox Account banned for 2 months and lost his place in 2 tournaments
Don’t feel bad. It’s part of the game. It may sting for them for a bit, but they’ll get over it, and when they do, it’ll make for a great story to tell for all parties involved. They’ll make that money back in no time I’m sure
