  • Tooth resorption, or root resorption, is the progressive loss of dentine and cementum by the action of osteoclasts. This is a normal physiological process in the exfoliation of the primary dentition, caused by osteoclast differentiation due to pressure exerted by the erupting permanent tooth.

I was diagnosed with internal resorption on my back molar. The tooth is fine and no sensitivity. Only issue is tenderness on one side of gum. What happens if I just leave it? Is there a possibility the root resorption could spontaneously stop, and only effect a portion of the tooth?

Can orthodontic treatment leads to internal reabsorption too?

Tats not possible. Orthodontic forces cant create internal resorption

@@meme-cl7dw but on rare instance like prolonged use of braces might cause internal resorption.. Normally it causes bone resorption on one side and deposition on the opposite side which create tooth movement.

Hey sir.. I am from pakistan.. I have my 2nd orthodontic treatment.. I have protruded teeth and obviously for this they have to extract my 1st premolars to make space.. But i have root resorption in some of my teeth.. I am worried about it,,, whether i should go for extraction or continue my braces treatment without extraction?
