It's often true that people underestimate the importance of financial advisors until they feel the negative effects of emotional decision-making. I remember a few summers ago, after a tough divorce, when I needed a boost for my struggling business. Sure you can do what you like.....but when it affects a community they have every right to burn you to the ground while we all laugh at your failed attempt to profit off of them. You can run and operate your own business but it is every right of the city to boycott you or bypass your business for being toxic. Ask killdozer - the inevitable outcome of feeling entitled to private enterprise at the expense of others always ends the same way. All texas need do is enshrine an actual free and transparent market while collecting a small royalty and it will be the most profitable exchange in the history of man kind.

As a competitor the Texas exchange should keep the other two exchanges in check.
The Texas Stock Exchange must have years of successful listings to really get its respect. NYSE is proven effective over 200 years. The Pacific Exchange (California) lasted pretty long but ultimately got consumed by NYSE.
The very attempt at a Texas stock symbolizes a divide between libertarians and liberals. Freedom is a fundamental American value.
NYSE will be fine, but the governance overstep by NASDAQ creates an opportunity for the Texas Stock Exchange.
