I've been building computers for myself and friends since 2006 and been a computer technician in the field since 2012. This video is on point, and very well done.
Just got to the end where it explained that one of the RAM sticks was faulty, so figuring that out without sending all the parts back is good diagnostic technique which some self-builders don't possess.
I agree except for the m.2 part which didn’t make much sense. Should be using the top slot as it’s closer to the cpu and I’m certain it would have fit!
@@nickmarshall2676 What happened was she tried to use a dedicated screw for it, when generally you use the screws from the heatsink (as the left heatsink screw overlapped with the 2280 M.2 mount).
Pretty sure that she is reading off a script someone wrote for her….the way she introduced some of the parts didn’t seem natural, like she went off script…….
It's always nice to watch stuff like this because building a PC can be such an aggravating process. It never occurred to me that it could be a calming activity
When I had disposable income in HS I used to love it. I had a old hp from like 2005 my dad left when he dipped from our lives. It became kind of like a sleeper because I don't remember all the specks but I know I had a top line i5, a 1080ti, and 64 ddr4 I miss it has to sell it in the end. Saving to build another someday

In my opinion Intel 12th gen processor + mainboard would have been better in terms of price and probably also performance at the moment. Just an opinion and not entirely sure

I learned so much from this! I always thought building your own PC was some kind of magical thing only a few knew how to do, but now I see that it only takes buying the separate parts and assembling them all together. Of course, you need to know what you are buying, what type of PC you wanna build, where everything goes, and have enough knowledge to detect why something isn't working but... still... I feel like I can do this someday. That was so cool. Thank you! and congratulations!
It can be very easy, you can also get a prebuilt pc then upgrade it if that is more in your comfort zone. I tell people think of it like a project car, if your comfortable with starting barebones and being able to build up, go for it. If your more comfortable starting at a base model and upgrading, go for it. It is after all your pc, not anyone else.

@@Marc37638 generally speaking yes. Although there are mobos that support multiple pcie 4.0 ssd. If this is a 3.0 slot this poor 980 pro (amazing card) is only running at half speed. Anyway, it's an easy fix to move it to the topmost ans use the heatsink screw to install it
@@Marc37638 pretty sure all the x570 socket boards have only pcie 4.0, so i don't think there is a problem pluging your m.2 in the bottom, just a bit weird. And b550 boards are limited to one pcie4 nvme slot

The fact you have an RTX card in a box with all your other stuff shows your dedication and patience. This build is awesome, the tingles are awesome and I feel bad for falling asleep during such a nice video.

Understanding what everything does, and especially how it works with each other is the difficult part. The basics are easy but in detail things like CPU cache, VRM on the MB, and understanding how to fix problems when things go wrong takes more knowledge than a simple step by step video on putting it together.

I have been in IT for 21 years, at one point I owned my own PC shop. By far this is the best, most clearly explained, build Ive seen anyone else do. I also think the part choice is really good too!
Hey @Bluewhisper, very nice video and Pc. Just as a tip for the M.2 SSD. There must be a standoff in the Motheroard accessories that you can use to screw down the M.2 and than you can screw the SSD heatsink into the standoff. That way you get the best cooling for your SSD at the top slot while also making use of the PCIe 4.0 speeds :)

U can get rtx in normal price if you're patient enough. I got mine, new RTX 2060 for 300~£ in last year. Ik it's nor 3060 but still, it's enough for me, after all, I have ps5 for AAA games, and PC for emulators or older and indie games.

I've come across many asmr videos on the website but an actual pc building asmr is new to me, this is interesting to watch and listen to. A lot better than the other pc building videos that call themselves asmr but is just a no commentary pc building video, keep up the good work!
If this was me, I'd be freaking out about the thickness of all the manuals, and whether all the bits would fit. But watching an expert do their thing effortlessly can be relaxing 😎

I would think that there was a big difference in performance between this lovely build and your eight-year old computer! The kitty wanting to see what you were doing, that reminded me of my cat who always was anxious to see what I was building on my computer, for all of her 14 years. They may be irritating at times, but enjoy their company while you can.

Awesome video! Not sure if anybody else mentioned the reason you couldn't get both screws in with the SSD in the top slot was because you're supposed to just use the screw of the heatsink instead. Basically the heatsink hold the SSD in when you use the top slot.

Awesome build! You took an otherwise extremely stressful project and made it so relaxing, like something anyone can do on a lazy afternoon. Another great ASMR! I want to start buying components to build one of my own now.
@@donmiller8228 you can plan that easy on pcpartpicker. This is no different from legos for adults, and I suggest everyone we build their pc rather than pay the build fees to dell and waste money. Prebuilt also come with build errors and terrible component selection that can be avoided this way. It’s like 8 parts in total anyways, which can be done in 30 mins by a half decent builder and 2 hours or less by anyone watching a tutorial online.
@@donmiller8228 The machine did not post. One of the ram sticks was bad. It most likely took many hours to figure it out, if my experience serves me right. Not ASMR.

Pretty sure it wasn’t faulty, she put the two kits aside each other in b1 and b2 instead of b2 and a2. They’re meant to run in dual channel and she put them next to each other for both corresponding kits. Oh well at least she got it to boot which matters most!
@@ThePdog3k anti-static wristbands are totally unnecessary. Go watch JayzTwoCents where he tested just how much static energy it would even take to damage PC components (he intentionally shocked various parts of a PC while it was powered on and couldn't harm a single component no matter how much he tried). Under almost any ordinary circumstances there's no reason why you would need to worry about ESD when building a computer. Components these days are incredibly resilient.

Well done. The first M.2 slot is big enough for any size M.2, basically you just needed to put the heat sink over it first then use either that silver screw you tried or the black one. Usually the posts are able to be screwed directly in but Asus does this sometimes. Either way, they both work. Enjoyed this video, cheers
My favorite type of ASMR. I'm subscribed to another channel where a guy just silently fixes electric fence chargers and its so addicting! lol I do have a tiny little request, for a longer version of something like this could you explain to us what some of the installed parts do? I know nothing at all about building a computer but I was SOOO curious about what each little snap in parts function was. Maybe most people already know. But I know I love the learning aspect too of "building stuff" videos. Other than that it was SUPER relaxing and zoned out the whole time practically drooling lol!! great job as always!!!

From personal trial and error, I found that just because there are ram slots, doesn't mean they can take it all. Be sure to check the motherboard and your storage for specks. Can only put max ram to the lowest speck devise. Great vid. Much appreciated 👍👍👍
Great build! It's nice when things just work together well, this PC build was done without any issues. Every time I do a PC build there's usually at least one thing with a fan controller or not enough 4-pin connectors to hook up all the case fans or whatever else dooms me. :) Your voice has a relaxing tone too, thank you so much for sharing this! This kind of real-world ASMR is my favorite.

I learned so much from this! I always thought building your own PC was some kind of magical thing only a few knew how to do, but now I see that it only takes buying the separate parts and assembling them all together. Of course, you need to know what you are buying, what type of PC you wanna build, where everything goes, and have enough knowledge to detect why something isn't working but... still... I feel like I can do this someday.

It can be very easy, you can also get a prebuilt pc then upgrade it if that is more in your comfort zone. I tell people think of it like a project car, if your comfortable with starting barebones and being able to build up, go for it. If your more comfortable starting at a base model and upgrading, go for it. It is after all your pc, not anyone else.

The top SSD position uses the heatsink screw for holding it in position, it's a bit tricky to install but not that hard.

@@Marc37638 generally speaking yes. Although there are mobos that support multiple pcie 4.0 ssd. If this is a 3.0 slot this poor 980 pro (amazing card) is only running at half speed. Anyway, it's an easy fix to move it to the topmost ans use the heatsink screw to install it

Invest and set aside! I bought a prebuilt and I’m slowly upgrading parts.
I can't afford a top-on-the-line pc and don't really need one. I built my last one from second-hand parts reusing a few bits from the old computer.

Understanding what everything does, and especially how it works with each other is the difficult part. The basics are easy but in detail things like CPU cache, VRM on the MB, and understanding how to fix problems when things go wrong takes more knowledge than a simple step by step video on putting it together.

Hey @Bluewhisper, very nice video and Pc. Just as a tip for the M.2 SSD. There must be a standoff in the Motheroard accessories that you can use to screw down the M.2 and than you can screw the SSD heatsink into the standoff. That way you get the best cooling for your SSD at the top slot while also making use of the PCIe 4.0 speeds :)

U can get rtx in normal price if you're patient enough.
I got mine, new RTX 2060 for 300~£ in last year.
Ik it's nor 3060 but still, it's enough for me, after all, I have ps5 for AAA games, and PC for emulators or older and indie games.

I've come across many asmr videos on the website but an actual pc building asmr is new to me, this is interesting to watch and listen to. A lot better than the other pc building videos that call themselves asmr but is just a no commentary pc building video, keep up the good work!

Awesome video! Not sure if anybody else mentioned the reason you couldn't get both screws in with the SSD in the top slot was because you're supposed to just use the screw of the heatsink instead. Basically the heatsink hold the SSD in when you use the top slot.

Awesome build! You took an otherwise extremely stressful project and made it so relaxing, like something anyone can do on a lazy afternoon. Another great ASMR! I want to start buying components to build one of my own now.
Apparently everything worked and all the right parts were available right out of the box which makes a build much better.
@@donmiller8228 you can plan that easy on pcpartpicker. This is no different from legos for adults, and I suggest everyone we build their pc rather than pay the build fees to dell and waste money. Prebuilt also come with build errors and terrible component selection that can be avoided this way. It’s like 8 parts in total anyways, which can be done in 30 mins by a half decent builder and 2 hours or less by anyone watching a tutorial online.
@@donmiller8228 The machine did not post. One of the ram sticks was bad. It most likely took many hours to figure it out, if my experience serves me right. Not ASMR.

Anti-static wristbands go a long way. Not necessary if physically grounding on the frame, but it takes the guesswork out.

Pretty sure it wasn’t faulty, she put the two kits aside each other in b1 and b2 instead of b2 and a2. They’re meant to run in dual channel and she put them next to each other for both corresponding kits. Oh well at least she got it to boot which matters most!
@@ThePdog3k anti-static wristbands are totally unnecessary. Go watch JayzTwoCents where he tested just how much static energy it would even take to damage PC components (he intentionally shocked various parts of a PC while it was powered on and couldn't harm a single component no matter how much he tried). Under almost any ordinary circumstances there's no reason why you would need to worry about ESD when building a computer. Components these days are incredibly resilient.
I can't help but wonder if it was difficult maintaining a calm ASMR voice after that powered up so beautifully. I would be squealing with joy XD

The first M.2 slot is big enough for any size M.2, basically you just needed to put the heat sink over it first then use either that silver screw you tried or the black one. Usually the posts are able to be screwed directly in but Asus does this sometimes. Either way, they both work. Enjoyed this video, cheers

I'm subscribed to another channel where a guy just silently fixes electric fence chargers and its so addicting! lol I do have a tiny little request, for a longer version of something like this could you explain to us what some of the installed parts do? I know nothing at all about building a computer but I was SOOO curious about what each little snap in parts function was. Maybe most people already know. But I know I love the learning aspect too of "building stuff" videos. Other than that it was SUPER relaxing and zoned out the whole time practically drooling lol!! great job as always!!!

From personal trial and error, I found that just because there are ram slots, doesn't mean they can take it all. Be sure to check the motherboard and your storage for specks. Can only put max ram to the lowest speck devise. Great vid. Much appreciated 👍👍👍

Great build! It's nice when things just work together well, this PC build was done without any issues. Every time I do a PC build there's usually at least one thing with a fan controller or not enough 4-pin connectors to hook up all the case fans or whatever else dooms me. :) Your voice has a relaxing tone too, thank you so much for sharing this! This kind of real-world ASMR is my favorite.
I am going to actually save this video in a separate reference playlist. Might come in handy at some point for when I attempt to do a PC build myself.
