    The Carpet Bronze is beyond fine. It is an incredibly beautiful detailed piece of craftsmanship. In all honesty I think that I would adorn my own shelf with it for the time being whilst research is going on. Like you say that guy is unlikely to be caught out given the amount of Bergman he sells but keeping it for a time gives you the option to benefit from its beauty and reap more knowledge of this Craftsmans work as a whole.
    Good luck I so enjoy your input here I consider it a lesson x

    Trust your instincts, you are a pro. The item from the other seller looks identical. All though castings can be reproduced, it is very difficult to reproduce the quality finishing touches and yours appears to have the same finish as the comparable item.

    The bronze all sounds good to me based on what you have shown and found Walter. Not sure if I’d of had the balls to pay £150 for it though lol. How much will you be asking for it as a genuine Bergman?

    Looks good to me, the quality in the reproductions is not the same as the originals. You could put it up for auction at a start price of £165+postage and let the market decide if it’s a original. If it’s an original you will get multiple bids from the £165.

    I think your Bergman is almost certainly right, I've dealt with dozens and dozens of them over the years and yours looks good, obviously without holding it I wouldn't want to say 100% but looks totally kosher to me. It's worth £400 ish on a good day.

    • @AntiquesArena
      @AntiquesArena  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you very much for your comment and opinion. At £150 I hope it is right. I have sold a few over the years but not enough to use my experience on this but handled enough to know it was quality. Hope your right thank you

      @@AntiquesArena the casting quality on yours looks decent, and the oxidation to the paint looks right. There are lots of fakes but yours doesn't have the signs I'd normally associate with them, as for the Bergman stamp, they vary massively, some are signed namgreb, some Bergman, some have the cachet stamp, some don't. Your stamp isn't the crispest but again these vary massively. Nice buy, if you ever come across any bronze snakes or skulls let me know

    The genuine carpet Bergman's tend to go for 1k-2k at auction houses like Bonhams, but the Ebay Bergman's only go for a couple of hundred. Something smells fishy.

    Love the bronze but from the way the photos look to me it looks like the paint work looks like it given a aged effect hard to say when not in my hand also would worry me somewhat that you managed to find another example that looked the same suggest to me that it might be repro
