  • For the idiot NMEnrique who claims that Pavarotti was the best and loudest tenor in history. Far louder and better than MDM, he said.
    Enrique, show me 3 recordings of MDM cracking and getting booed. Oh no, show me one. A single one. Thanks. Here, Pavarotti cracks - the microphones did not help.

      Pavarotti was great but his marketing was bad. In his first biography you can read that he sang in the original key. That was not the case.In I Puritani no high d the same in Rigoletto. Even Leone Magiera claimed that he had sung IPuritani in key. Why?
      He was a great tenor, unique that should be fine. Why king of the high c?
      In the duets of Rigoletto and un ballo in maschera he had problems with the final notes. I think because he was forcing his voice too much singing in dramatic fashion.
      For me he has been my favorite tenor.
      But other tenors like Kraus and Bonisolli were the kings of the high C's. In Vienna Pavarotti answered that he wants to be recalled as a belcanto tenor rather than king of the high C

    Pavarotti spoke several times about the tenor voice being scary sounding and the anticipation and trepidation concerning if the high notes would be reached,. He also agreed the loggionisti were correct to boo and catcall him at La Scala when he cracked. No one was more critical of his own performances than Pavarotti himself. And he never glorified himself or was an arrogant prig about his voice. I think he would have given you, the poster of this video, a very humble explanation for these instances of less than perfection..."I failed". I saw Luciano Pavarotti over 100 times, and they were all very good to extraordinary performances, and I never heard him crack like these. He probably sang over 2,000 nights and cracked on maybe 20 at the most. You go ahead and try his technique, which the Italians call "buttare" and it is the kamikaze tenor style that only the best voices can handle, and see if you have such a unqualified success as Luciano Pavarotti, who sang for over 40 years.

    • @sugarbist
      @sugarbist 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Today's tenor's or future tenor's, including the pale lyric unidentifiable voice of "Francesco Meli" could only dream of having the fine career of the large bodied charismatic Luciano Pavarotti. We can criticize the fact that he cracked, but cannot deny his overall success as a great lyric tenor, and the fact he contributed in making opera more popular for the average person, similar to the way Mario Lanza did with his Hollywood movies in the 1950s. It's good that Tsar Bovov downloaded these examples of Pavarotti cracking, which brings forward the awareness of how difficult it is to cultivate the tenor voice over a short or long period of time. It also gives Pavarotti's detractors a chance to view their discontent for the great lyric tenor.

MDM being abstinent a week before a performance. Pavarotti wearing a scarf in June. Aragall having stage fright and suffering from migraine headaches. Whether Pavarotti was the greatest is hardly a point of discussion. This is a mean-spirited collection of a few foul-ups that were part of a career of hundreds upon hundreds of good and great performances. I would like to hear the original poster sing "Di Quella Pira" as well as L.P. sang it in his prime.

      Caruso was the best by a long way,his voice was much much bigger,darker brighter,as close to perfect as you get.Listen to him,read what people wrote about him.There were many better than Pavarotti.Pavarotti had a small voice,he was good for our modern microphones and recordings but when you pit him against the greats he is not so great,he had a beautiful tone.A famous singer who is now past told me that Di Stefano was the greatest tenor he had ever heard.He sang with Pavarotti and di stefano,he sang with Pavarotti alot at the begining of his career,he said that Di Stefano was alot better.He also told me that Pavarotti sang high F's in rehearsal but was too scared to try it in performonce,the high f's were very beautiful.You can like whoever you want thats the beauty of being the listener ,however facts are facts.Del Monaco, Corelli,Tucker,Gigli,Pertile,Zanelli,etc were better.Opera is a live event,live, pavarottis voice was smaller meaning his voice is less valued than the big dramatic singers.

    NO. Pavarotti was not loud at all. Especially not louder than Mario del Monaco. His real voice was even smaller than Aragalls who had the same sort of voice. I heard them both in Vienna Staatsoper - del Monaco old, and Pavarotti in his best years. Monaco extremly loud as Pagliacci. And "better than Monaco? Let me laugh out loud! Vienna Staatsoper in this time had no micros.. And I have heard Pavarotti very often cracking. And no, we did NOT boo him for that, because it happens that a voice cracks - especially a tenor voice.

    Gigli was a lyric tenor that sang Chenier and Forza successfully. His 1939 Aida did not get good reviews. Perhaps the grueling 3rd act was a little much for the great Lyric tenor. IMO, it’s always interesting when any tenor sings something outside of their repertoire. Lauri Volpi also sang Otello without having a dramatic quality to his voice. Corelli sang Boheme several times with limited success. MDM early on sang Boheme, Butterfly, Traviata, and Rigoletto, with perhaps questionable suitability. No tenor is perfect for every role and many great and good tenors have cracked during their careers.

      @UCamjdVJpG3uA-mAvLiSDqKA Well, Opera originated in the 16th century. The word "Opera" meaning work or labor in a theatrical sense started spreading to other countries. Basically the art form was dominated by Italian composers and great Italian singers, but with exceptions of course. During the 16th century, there was a period of time where the castrated tenor was used until the pope condemned the procedure. Around 1850 or 1870 the castration procedure was outlawed completely in Italy. Then came Caruso of course, who debuted at the Met around 1903. Whether you like him or not, He did set the foundation and standard for every tenor that followed. Other countries also came forward with excellent tenors as well. Bjorling, Lemeshev, Slezak, Wunderlich, Melchior, Tucker, Gedda, Cortis, Scmidt, Tauber, and McCormack are some of the non Italian's that made important contributions to the art form. We can go on, continuing to insult each other, but perhaps there's a way to continue or terminate this argument in a humane manner.

    Where Pavarotti got the idea in the early 1990s that he could still sing this opera is beyond me. He wasn't having a bade night. He was WARNED not to attempt this role again after so many years but he refused to listen to his advisers. Sadly, these high Cs are actually high B flats, and they had to be transposed down from the key of F major to E flat major. Unfortunately, not even this was enough to disguise the fact that he was finished in this repertoire. Pretty sad to hear. All that food and fat and wine, and conspicuous consumption of the previous decade had finally caught up with him. Everything he did from this time forward until his death was a travesty.

Look at the other tenors ,for exemple Ronaldo Villazon ,he had an operation on his vocal cords .This problem appears when the tenor sings very much in different arias daily and when the tenor sings in high note daily .
