My precious has started her lessons. Her teacher expects ME to correct her bow grip. And i have never played violin! Nicely explained. I'll do the exercises to be able to correct her. Thank you for your explanation and video!
Any suggestions for left handed playing? I have no issues with doing everything in your video with my left hand but struggling with trying it with my right hand. Thanks.
Hi, every hand is different. The idea is to understand how the bow hold should function but everyone does modify the finger position some to make it comfortable. Ideały you want to be comfortable and sound good at the same time. You’ll find it if you keep at it! Good luck.
Excellent question! Yes it is different. Development of the modern bow opened so many possibilities in terms of sound that the only way to truly utilize its potential was to develop a new bow holds.

Hi, they ideały shouldn’t touch. And depending on hand proportions they can be a little offset from each other. The most important thing is that the thumb is round and doesn’t slide in so deep that it touches the middle finger.

I have a small hand and when I bow up my two middle fingers get out of place or it moves more up. Is that ok?

I'm been playing 35 I've been tuning for 45, that's why I m a fiddler
