  • Happy new year friends! Today's video is for all my viewers who are just starting nursing school (or currently in nursing school or even school in general) and were wanting tips on how I take notes! I’m taking yall along my note-taking routine before, during, and after lectures. I hope yall enjoy this video and can hopefully incorporate some tips into your routine!
    As my professors’ PowerPoints are confidential, I created the demo PowerPoint for the purpose of this video.
    The med-surg book I'm using is: Medical-Surgical Nursing: Concepts for Interprofessional Collaborative Care (9th ed.) by Donna D. Ignatavicius.
    Thank you for supporting my channel. Wishing you all well in this new year! Stay safe and warm :)
    xoxo,
    steph

    This method is actually kind of unique in its own way! I’m gonna try it tomorrow and will let you know how I like it!!
    Update: So it does take some time at least for me due to having around 30-60 at most slides depending on the class + formatting the bullets the way I want it (45 min- 1 hour) However once I’m done it definitely is so much easier to use for annotation of notes than looking at the slides!
    I personally use GoodNotes 5 rather than printing it out since I don’t have access to a printer all the time unless I’m at my university

I have trouble retaining the information from the textbook as I have trouble determining which are the important sentences to take away. Any tips for when you read your textbook and transfer those notes to your paper in the L column or sticky notes, how do you determine what is the information that goes there? Thank you.

    What pen do you use often?

      Pilot G2 pens are my favorite! I use black ink the most but when writing notes, I love using rainbow colors!

    My professors just read from the power point bullets that they have and from the book during lectures. They add their own experiences but there's never any extra input really. Idk if that's normal or not but they don't really emphasize anything they say we need to know all of it. Does anyone have professors like this?

    • @stephxoxo
      @stephxoxo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I’ve definitely had professors like this! For them, I usually just study everything on the powerpoints. It’s nice when profs can hint at potential exam questions but that isn’t always the case 😅

      @@stephxoxoThat's exactly it! They usually copy and paste the book paragraphs and the book images. Of course we ask for specifics and they just say everything lol. It's pretty overwhelming 😂 But info read the chapters and take notes before lectures so I'm not completely lost I try to make the connections before exams 😬

      That’s a great way to study! I wish I had the determination like you to read before lectures but I try to do the bare minimum haha 😅

    Hello. Your content was instructional. I have been trying to find for a vid similar to yours that educates everything in this TH-cam vid! 👨‍⚕️ The part at 1:28 is my favorite. Your lesson is similar to the videos of Doctor Ethan! Doctor's videos are knowledgable and I really learned a lot for school!
    I suggest you see his channel out and give the med student a like! ➡️ #DrEthanEducation
