This doesn't really count as "cheese", since this strategy is entirely reliant on luck in phase 2. Even if you're lucky enough that your summons aren't gravely wounded by then, you'll need even more luck for Pestilent Mist to actually hit the boss, considering the fact that he moves around and flies away constantly. All in all, I give this strategy a 1.5 out of 5 rating.

10 tries so far, not even been that close tbh. Writing "easily kill him" is just total bs. 2nd phase he flies around a lot, and is really good at killing the summons. I guess there is no getting away from fighting the prince as intended: learning his attacks etc.
I just finished this boss on a first playthrough yesterday. I tried it both ways, alone and with both summons. Wasn't having much luck either way, but was doing much better with the summons (got prince down to about 5% health a few times, but summons were dying). Finally killed him with summons. I'm running a pyromancer build and fought phase 1 with a curved sword, phase 2 just bombed him relentlessly with black fire orbs. Had an 11HP/4FP mix on flasks, which was just enough on both sides. Both summons lived to the end on the last fight. It wasn't the laser prince, it was the firestorm one.
