I wonder how Billaud-Varenne got permission to settle in Haiti with everything we heard in series 4, he apparently married a black woman which probably did help the Haitian believe that he wasn't just y'know another arrogant white Frenchman. I suppose being one of the intimates of the Incorruptable would have helped as well.
