My great uncle lost his eye in ww2 driving an officer in a Jeep. They took a mortar round and flipped... the officer didnt make it and Bill lost his eye. When I was about 5, I met him. Not knowing the story, i asked him why he always kept one eye closed. He said, "I sleep in this eye half the day and switch the second half. That way i can stay up all the time." I tried to do that for a long time before asking my dad how uncle Bill did that. He just laughed and then proceeded to tell me the real story. I met the man once, at 5 years old, and I will remember him forever. Legend.

She served in the French Revolutionary Army and The Grand Armee for 22 years. She was known as an extremely tough woman and despite being wounded several times and having several horses shot out from under her she went on to live a long life. Lets not forget being take prisoner of war a few times.An incredible lady who is often overlooked when it comes to great warriors.

This particular thumbnail wouldn't be particularly complicated to make without AI though, it's VERY basic. And T2 already uses art in his videos, I don't think it would harm it for the thumbnails to also be done by a person. Heck, it's so simple, he could do it himself with a few license free stock photos and a copy of GIMP2 (I say this in part because GIMP2 costs nothing). Heck, I'm sure there's editing software on phones that could pull this off.

It is also my understanding of the probabilities of why he was not considered but that would be for some historian to elucidate or refute. - A topic for you to take on board maybe? There was a bio written which amazed me but left me feeling angry for the best fighting general of his era. His men, though they loved and admired him seemed to think that maybe he just enjoyed the violence a little too much. Over!

It's my understanding he was put forward for 3 x VC's and although getting a DSO he did not get one of those VC's. It is also my understanding of the probabilities of why he was not considered but that would be for some historian to elucidate or refute. - A topic for you to take on board maybe?
There was a bio written which amazed me but left me feeling angry for the best fighting general of his era. His men, though they loved and admired him seemed to think that maybe he just enjoyed the violence a little too much. Over!

He was born when the military had great use for that kind of personality. He served as a moral boost. He got wounded on several occasions - at the same time saving his life not fighting the entire duration of the wars he faught. Today he most likely would have been forced to retire for the sake of his own good. Famous people are an elite attracting their peers - be it for personal merits or being born into an elite. Good at sports or a famous musician - they tend to meet royalties, heads of state and the likes. Meeting others being famous is rubbing elbows and exchanging stardust. It certainly isn't harmful perhaps proving to come in handy later without even asking. You don't say no to Churchill... Churchill wanted him onboard - the reputation spoke for itself. Churchill most likely saw a kind of soulmate. Churchill did brake the rules himself and survived battles being equally brave and stupid. He learned along the way. Churchill could be brutal - what Britain needed during WW2. There are quite a lot of similarities in their careers. Churchill sent him to China - feeling comfortable they were reading the same page in the book. Insulting Mao... Churchill must have felt like getting full value for the money... I'm certain various officials would be sending back worrying reports... Churchill turning the blind eye to them - probably reading them before bedtime - getting a good nights sleep having been wonderfully entertained. Doing absolutely nothing - perhaps only regretting not having the opportunity to adress the Chairman himself in that manner - I wouldn't be surprised if Churchill wrote an official apology - having gotten knowledge of the situation -
