Well... he was the oldest rookie to play in the nfl without playing college. (besides kickers, and punters) I would say that that is quite the accomplishment.
there are some nobodies on this feed making fun of Papale and Wahlberg? wow two guys that did something with their lives while you sit on TH-cam and criticize them because you have nothing better to do...smooth
I have really gained so much respect for Wahlberg for the way he throws himself into movies. You're talking about a guy who was a teenage thug, then in a boy band, and now has given performances like in this, The Fighter, Rockstar, Patriots Day, etc.... Not the greatest actor, but someone who always gives 100% and seems like one of the best people in Hollywood off screen.
The most impressive thing about him in this movie if you rewatch it there is a scene where during a game where the character gets absolutely blown up running down the sideline and then gets back up and keeps running, it wasnt scripted and wasn't supposed to happen one of the stunt men (other player in this case) miss timed the hit and caught him head on and flush full force and they decided to keep it all in
Loved the movie but they really played fast and loose with his prior football experience as a pro. He was a pro player in another league the two years prior to joining the Eagles. He also was invited by Dick V. to a private try out for the Eagles. The open call tryouts were for real but Vince wasn't a part of that on the field.
The real Vince Papale was not a small guy who came out of no where. He was a track star in high school and college. At 6' 2" and about 200 he was not a small guy as portrayed in the movie. He also played in a semi pro league as a wide receiver. Still an accomplishment to get to the NFL...and stay fro three years.
Not unheard of. Even if you count kickers as not really being football players, there are more than a hand full of players that went Pro without playing college football. Ray Seals even played for a SB winning team with Pittsburgh. Granted most are guys who were academically ineligible for college football but some have come from Rugby teams.
He also played 2 seasons for the Philadelphia Bell in 1974 and 1975, immediately prior to his 3-year stint with the Eagles. At the time, the WFL was essentially the USFL of its time (also similar to the first few years of the AFL in the early 60's.)
Mark whalberg also played the Texan Marcus Lutrell in Lone Survivor, which mark is 5'8 and Marcus is 6'5 😂 he did good, but the size was off haha 😂 Marcus Lutrell is actually in a couple of small scenes in the film to
Except for some of the action during game action looking a little "Disneysized", I was impressed at their attention to detail. All the clothing, hairstyles, football equipment (shoes, facemasks, etc. were of that era). This in contrast to "Rudy", which was supposed to take place in 1975 and yet looked more 1965 with the clothes, hairstyles, etc. I was an undergrad in 1975 and the only guys wearing their hair like Rudy and the other ND's, were ROTC.
I instantly remembered this line when Super Bowl LII was the Eagles vs the Patriots. Mark was asked about who he wanted to win, and he said that he didn't mind who the winner would be, he was going to enjoy it regardless of the outcome. I'm sure he was very happy for us when we won.
He is great but not for this roll . He's just too short and young Papale had such a strong and a thick neck and a very strong overall bone structure. Look at the size of his head!
@@igalflint I agree but people woulda bitched about that too because then they couldn’t act. Maybe Mark isn’t nest actor but he has an undeniable strong screen presence. Take act of valor for example. They used real navy seals for the lead roles, so they had the build, the attitude/personality and techniques Down Absolutely Perfectly. Yet they were NOT strong actors so the movie is hated on and didn’t do well. It no has a cult following but when it came out it was trashed.
The only true Vince Papale was the one I worked for at Atlantic Express in Philadelphia the greatest shop manager who would never back down in helping you knocking out kingpins in the buses and also who cared about you as a person (Just so you kown the Vince I know and the one for the Eagles are related)
Probably a central slip rupture and resultant boutonere deformity of the finger or just broken with a flexion contracture. VINCE, you're awesome. You to Mark.
Wahlberg is a man's man. Love this guy and I respect him. Major successful and yet humble with not a shred of fake bullshit talk. What you see is what you get.......
Did Wahlberg call the Pats vs Eagles superbowl or was this taken after?? Cuz the movie came out in 06' but filming must've been in 04 or 05 so this interview was presumably done around there...If he called that that is awesome haha
SunsetSupermanRMB without a doubt. Football now is an incredibly brutal game, it used to be alot worse, guys now are faster and stronger, but back then they didnt have rules against dirty hits. so yeah i assume Papale injured hia finger balling
I'm really curious about anyone who was in the stands , did they just open up the stadium and tell anyone and everyone who can show up please do? The picture is grainy enough I can't tell but are these the scenes vs the giants in the film?
Interesting choice to play the part of NFL WR Vince Papale. Mark Wallberg is like 5'8", 170#. Just a wee bit small for a high school player yet alone an NFL guy. 🤣
I am so sick of these actors believing their own crap. Dude you are 5’8”. You couldn’t be a professional ping pong player. Yet alone a pro Footballer. It’s scripted. Do you see how big Vince is and was?? Wake up
I’m Matthew Novakoski I should have a pod cast 🦸🦅so dough coyn did profile and ensscepted me a million times it’s not Sam it’s the real Matthew Novakoski 🦸🐻🙏✝️🦅✝️🧑🦯
Well... he was the oldest rookie to play in the nfl without playing college. (besides kickers, and punters) I would say that that is quite the accomplishment.
Michael Lewis
I think
He did play in the world football league
I didn't know Mark actually went thru part of the eagles training camp while shooting some of this movie...that's damn impressive.
This is an awesome interview...props to Papale and to Wahlberg for showing us how to be!
there are some nobodies on this feed making fun of Papale and Wahlberg? wow two guys that did something with their lives while you sit on TH-cam and criticize them because you have nothing better to do...smooth
Nathan Ridenour exactly ! I say to them come back and talk when you've been portrayed in a movie, some people are just naturally jealous
Nathan Ridenour both of these men define what we should all strive to be. well put sir.
Nathan Ridenour Absolutely Spot on
We’re all criticizing by criticizing them
They were photobombing.

Funny eagle and patriots super bowl 10 years later

Papale has a classic Philly accent and it can't be imitated

One of my favorites! Talent on both ends!
Ya papale is a real man and mark did a ptetty good job pretending to be a real man.

invincible is my fav movie.not coz i like football or for papale but coz of the raw emotions in the movie
Wow, that's too Ironic what Mark Wahlberg said on clip 2:10 about the super bowl back in 2008, and here we are ten years later!
SPM took 10 years but it was a great game
I seen this 5yrs ago and i just remembered this line 2:12 5min ago. Who would have thought huh
SPM I was so happy when the Eagles finally won the Super Bowl against the Patriots. It was a fantastic game.

Mark really kicked ass in this role
Patriots v eagles. Wow. Timely interview.
Greg Kinnear was a perfect Dick Vermiel as well. Great movie!!
Greg Kinear is a very good actor.
Love Mark Wahlberg !! Icon for me!!!

Super Bowl LII - Eagles vs Patriots
Mark's a trooper! & that's cool Vince was all for the film!
i bet that one dislike is a giants fan
Probably a central slip rupture and resultant boutonere deformity of the finger or just broken with a flexion contracture.
VINCE, you're awesome. You to Mark.
Wahlberg is a man's man. Love this guy and I respect him. Major successful and yet humble with not a shred of fake bullshit talk. What you see is what you get.......
This movie changed my life.
This was such an awesome movie
Watching this after watching American underdog seeing/finding out D.Vermeil took a chance on Kurt Warner as well🤧
The statistic oldest NFL rookie started with Dick Vermeil. I always admired him at UCLA in a USC league. 😁
Eagles vs Patriots in a couple days for the Super Bowl. Go Eagles!
To think how far Mark has come in the last 15 years...Beast *GO BIRDS* fan and native since they built the VET...
Papale's left pinky looks like it's been in the NFL.
When will they make a Kurt Woerner movie? Grocery store stocker to mvp of the super bowl.
With an arena 🏈 🥪 in there.
2 year old comment. They did make a movie about him .
Did Wahlberg call the Pats vs Eagles superbowl or was this taken after?? Cuz the movie came out in 06' but filming must've been in 04 or 05 so this interview was presumably done around there...If he called that that is awesome haha
My guess is after, but we got that rematch years later
I saw this movie when it came out on Netflix, thinking it was a new movie.
Who else came from the movie
Great movie!! Good actor great player...
what a movie!!!
Papale's left pinky is pretty mangled, wonder if that's from the NFL days?
SunsetSupermanRMB without a doubt. Football now is an incredibly brutal game, it used to be alot worse, guys now are faster and stronger, but back then they didnt have rules against dirty hits. so yeah i assume Papale injured hia finger balling
They did a great job portraying his toughness in the film

+Spencer Pearce it was after the 04-05 season.
This is sick, Vince Papale went to my school friday! It was awesome. I was so glad to meet him
Interesting choice to play the part of NFL WR Vince Papale. Mark Wallberg is like 5'8", 170#. Just a wee bit small for a high school player yet alone an NFL guy. 🤣
😮 yeah after the movie I had to check that out. 6'2" 195lb is more real NFL believable.
45 seconds in and this guy's boring good thing wallburger didn't act as boring in the movie otherwise it'd bomb
I just noticed Mr Papale is missing half of his left hand pinky finger.
That was interesting :)
I loved 'Invinicible' and I looooove Mark!
1:57... "if they don't win again..."
Ha!
He called that shit
Played basketball against our teachers and came into the stands sang with us.

Maybe not missing, but messed up.
wow his left pinky finger is smashed up
@CheezitMan14

The real Vince Papale played one and a half yrs. In the world football league, before he played 4 w the eagles.
Vince is huge guy compared to Mark
Mark Walhberg blinded a Vietnamese man by punching him in his eye in his younger years. People should know.
Muy buena peli

"I wanted to be a professional athlete before I got in to acting".
What about your rap career?
look in the background at 3:23 to 3:26! its hilarious!
Haha Wahlberg gets to relax and do cushy interviews while his body doubles did all the work!
That director is so annoying in the background. Somebody tell him to shut up, Vince Papale is trying to talk damnit!
meta.
Me !!!!!!!!!hahaha after de movie
I enjoy how he's half a foot taller than Wahlberg.
not sure why YT recommended this but marky mark looks half the size of Papale! lol
Yeah borrow William Shatners lifters 😢
papale big as da phuck...mark has on pads n all and vince is still bigger than him (pause..no homo)
The female fertile whiskey family sprout because file surgically delight about a right dictionary. elegant, auspicious clutch
WAHLBERG...... THE WORST WIG IN THE WORLD
I am so sick of these actors believing their own crap. Dude you are 5’8”. You couldn’t be a professional ping pong player. Yet alone a pro Footballer. It’s scripted. Do you see how big Vince is and was?? Wake up
Makes me proud to be gay!
Why?
Lol tosser
Loser
Papale looks like a football player, Marky.......not so much.
Go home Mass Boy! You are not Italian, or an Eagles fan!. Piss poor casting in this film.
Yeah then they could've used the scene out of the rocky movie too. 😮 yooo Adrian
