I have a D 40 1980 spruce top mohogany back and sides and rosewood fret board. Plays like a tank. So thick! Is that a newer model from usa made or china made guild? What year is model? Great sounds
USA model although not the “Traditional” version of the D-40. This one is Matt finish, different neck joint to make is more affordable. 2019 model. They are the same now though.
Go play one person or listen on quality monitors or headphones. Sounds killer. I own the traditional version and it retired my 6 year old HD-28. Going to my grave. Phenomenal guitars.
@@kommi1974 I wish I could, literally no where within 10 hours of me carries this guitar. I've watched a different review of the D-40, totally blown away by how full it sounded; big time, but this review doesn't have that sound that I heard in the other review, maybe the playing style or how it's mic'd. I'd really love to play one. th-cam.com/video/5OeJa_4XMl0/w-d-xo.html
@@sandorando yes, I don't think I had listened to it with speakers. Fast forward to today and I own that very guitar lol, D40 Traditional Sunburst. It is truly astonishing, unreal tone. Prefer it to a D18 personally. I can't recommend this guitar enough, so happy with it.
Sir.. it used to frustrate me how good you are.. :)
Now I just think you're pretty goddamn awesome.
Brilliant playing, sir.
Great palying as ever, I love your style! Let me know if you perform in France one day.
Sounds fantastic.......greetings from Germany😎
Greg, always a pleasure good sir. You keep that shit up!
I wish the color burst looked better. I don’t know if it’s the matte finish or what, but it looks cheap. I like the tone.

Muito feio... mas o véio toca muito.
This guitar sounds bad in this review. So hit and miss.

Derek that’s a D40 Traditional which has slightly different specs and costs about 1k more. That might contribute to the difference you’re hearing
