      I remember at the time he considered this his Superman,the way that Christopher Reeve will always be known as that KR believed he would always be known as Ted and was totally cool with it. It’s awesome that even with that attitude he went on to become a legitimate movie star known for multiple iconic roles. It was shakey at first,remember him in Dracula?🤣

    I saw an interview with Alex Winter (Bill) and he said he got loads of letters from history teachers saying how this movie got their students interested in history and then got letters from English teachers saying they’d murdered the English language. You should definitely watch the sequels.

    One thing a lot of people miss in this movie is the Rufus Paradox - Rufus never actually introduces himself to the boys - Bill and Ted learn his name from Future Bill and Ted, who learned it from their future selves when they were the earlier Bill and Ted.

    • @Chasmodius
      @Chasmodius ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Not to mention: where did Rufus come from if the timeline was headed towards the duo breaking up? His future should never have existed! So then you get the question of multiple parallel timelines interacting and all sorts of other nonsense before you remember that it's a very silly movie that doesn't take itself seriously at ALL.

    • @Ncyphen
      @Ncyphen ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@Chasmodius There are theories of time being constant. All that will happen has already happened. Basically, if you consider the universe a closed system, no matter how many times itis rewound, the same event will always play out. In the same fashion, if someone in the future was to go back in time, they would always go back in time. This would mean that their future actions already exist in their past. This is similar to the grandfather paradox, in that no matter what actions are taken, the same history will always play out. One could even argue, "what if the actions of the time traveler lead to the events of history in the first place?"

Face The Music (part 3) is the weakest, but still a better-than-average movie and a lot of silly fun, and has its moments. I have a special spot for Face The Music, tho. This movie will always have a special place in my heart because in 1990 I was the young fellow who got to program the Amiga port of the "Bill 'n' Ted's Excellent Adventure" video game. It was not a well-designed game and was rushed out without adequate testing, but it has a nostalgic late 80's charm and is worth checking out in your favorite Amiga emulator. After the game was completed I had a chance to read this script with the title "Bill 'n' Ted Go To Hell" which eventually became the sequel "Bill 'n' Ted's Bogus Journey." Such goofy movies that I didn't appreciate at the time. The third Bill 'n' Ted movie that came out a couple of years ago was surprisingly good.

    Yes - definitely watch the second one. You have to follow their journey now. I remember the Bogus Journey was a blockbuster the minute it came out when I was a kid - posters were literally everywhere. Metal was life for the majority of kids in the 80s around the world. The best example to explain this to Canadians would be the time Shane McKay got Spike pregnant On Degrassi Junior High, and he used his allowance to buy tickets to the Gourmet Scum concert, instead of paying Spike child support, and then he jumped of a bridge after taking LSD, got spinal damage and ended up in a wheel chair. Yes, there was a lesson in this for us all. Anyway, there were so many bands in the 80s and a lot of people were dreaming of one that may emerge and stand head and shoulders above the rest, that in effect would unify everyone. This movie came out at the end of the Cold War when people were looking forward to the future with optimism, after decades of the threat of the human race being on the edge of extinction, potentially in minutes. There were so many older kids in my town like Bill and Ted and metal was playing on my school bus the first day I got on when I was 5.

    I love love love this movie. It’s filmed in my home town. I grew up going to that mall and that water park. Not many movies are filmed here so it fills a special place in my heart.

    Bogus Journey is important to the plot of the Bill & Ted lore as it's them finding their success.... the 3rd film is them achieving their destiny

    Now you've watched this you have to finish the trilogy by watching the other two Bill & Ted movies! Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey will introduce you to probably the best movie grim reaper ever (played brilliantly by William Sadler) and Bill & Ted Face the Music is a surprisingly warm and fuzzy heart felt conclusion to them becoming 'The Great Ones'. If you enjoyed this one you'll enjoy the other two. They're just fun, lighthearted movies with two lovable goofball characters. I actually teared up a little at the end of the third movie (watch right to the end of the end credits). That movie came out in the midst of the pandemic and was exactly the movie the world needed at the time.

    In the early 90s, when I saw those movies (meaning the first two of course), I was like 12. And of course even then you know, that it is just a silly movie, but I still loved the idea so much, that some music could lead world peace and happiness on earth and all that.

    Honestly, one of the best jokes in the entire movie, is that Ted is actually named Ted Logan, and just calls himself "Theodore" (something that a distressingly large part of the Internet seems to have gotten wrong, for some reason).
    The guy even introduces himself as "I'm Ted 'Theodore' Logan."

    Child of the 90s here, I've not seen this film, didn't think it would be my cup of tea but enjoyed this.
    I had to laugh as they started to get bored of all the historical figures even in the film itself when Sigmund Freud hit "yup just 60 secs here is enough, you get the idea, next"

    You DO need to see the second one before the third, Keanu loved the character so much he was pushing for a third for so long...
    That and "Constantine" he would really love to reprise that role!

    Love this late 80's classic so much. Hilarious 😂 I was 14 when it came out. The phone booth got more than a little crowded and the extremely important antenna is rather fragile. It would have helped if Bill and Ted had Doctor Who's Tardis instead.

    Joan of Arc is played by Jane Wiedlin of the Go-Gos. The middle one of the three future people is Clarence Clemons, the famous Sax player of Bruce Springsteen.

    When I saw you'd done this one, I dropped everything to watch. This has been one of my all-time favorite movies since I saw it in the theater back when it came out. It's what I call a "smart stupid movie", because it's so dumb on the surface, but there's so much wit and nerdy goodness in it.
    For example, when they meet Joan of Arc - who believed she spoke to God, or at least a messenger - and Ted reaches his arm out to her, their arms and hands are at first in the same position as the hand of God reaching toward man's hand on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.
    And then there's the little background stuff, like Billy the Kid and Socrates (he's under Sew-crates) in medieval England happily tossing a football.
    The list goes on and on, just so much great stuff, and you could tell everyone was having a blast making it.
    Also of note are some of the actors. Joan of Arc is a co-founder of The Go-Gos, and the Three Most Important People (the future dudes) are Bruce Springsteen's sax player, the lead singer for The Motels, and the lead singer for The Tubes.
    And I adore the soundtrack. One of my favorite '80s soundtracks.
    The second one is I think an inferior film, but it's still fun and worth a watch. If after that you want more, the third one is loads of fun.
    Another bonkers "smart stupid movie" you should check out in an Australian movie by Yahoo Serious called "Young Einstein". It follows the famous physicist in his early years, as, while on his dad's apple ranch in Tasmania, he discovers e=mc2, the formula to split beer atoms (thus achieving the never-before achieved feat of putting bubbles in it), and has to go on a grand adventure to the mainland (Australia) to patent it. It's utterly ludicrous, but has so much wit and nerdy goodness in it, plus a rocking all-Aussie soundtrack.

    Way back when, this was our introduction to Keanu Reeves. (There's an interesting internet theory going around that, in an alternate universe, Ted's dad sent him to military school where he excelled and became John Wick.) One of the things I liked about this movie was that all the historical figures only spoke their own languages. They didn't all (conveniently) speak English.

    i LOVE this movie!!! It is such a fun romp, . I remember watching this in the theatres when i Was 16(i think?) and also had been learning guitar for a little over a year, , So I was not very good. I identified with that part of the guys. Anyway, despite being panned by critics this was a surprise fan favorite. Almost everyone loved this movie and it is just a fun time. Definitely watch the 2nd one, I am guessing it takes place about a year or 2 after this one. It is a weird adventure of its own, and the boys end up in some extremely strange places. It is a bit dAarker, but still fun and worth the watch. Also since you mentioned Joan of Arc I thought you might like to know that her character was played by JaneWeidlin the guitarist for the Go-Gos. I am so happy you got to watch this and I got to enjoy it with you!! thanks Simone and George!
