For me the Android notification team is doing a very bad job! Switching from Target version 25 to 26 causes not showing not showing notification bug because new notification funcionality with notification channels is not backward compatible. Instead of creating an default notification channel the older notfications just stopping to work. Besides the notification functionality is very bad to use , the documentation is bad for google standards. Very bad user experience and the way you have to implement notification functionality seems to me as if the developers are doing many workarounds and are not doing clean design decisions.
Right said, many of us android devs agree with it. And the older default Notification system (before API 26) is also Annoying which instead of helping the users in staying connected with the app it just Annoys them... They need to add *Custom notification* support in *android v7 support library*...
They don't control the updates, bro. The company that created the phone does. So, for example, if you have a Samsung phone, that means that Samsung controls the updates.
I hate notification Channels, they don't provide any value to the user or the developer. Most apps provide notification settings inside their app to have granular control over what notification to receive and what not. That has been working pretty good. So what is the need for notification channels?. BTW what is wrong in providing just one notification channel. I have just one so I give only one channel. Over-engineering for no purpose.
Please share this video with xiaomi too
They annoy user with same notification untill its opened even you swipe it out from notification panel
Thank you for nice overview.
Could you share custom layout notification for Incoming video call when receiving FCM ?
Please provide good console to use Google notification
Does he actually think that API 26 "should be everywhere" (as in probably is everywhere)? 4:32
Thanks for
Awesome
Why all comments here are so negative.. ohh i forgot, the Android notification system is annoying.

Yea I agree it's more confusing than helping.
