  • 2020 was by far the most magnificent display of boats we have ever seen at this festive annual Christmas tradition on the Grand Canal. This video captures the December 19, 2020 Boat Parade in its entirety. The bar is set high for the 2021 Christmas Boat Parade!
This event was sponsored by the Banana River Sail and Power Squadron: www.brsps.org
This video is shown at 1.5x actual speed to make it shorter for TH-cam viewers.

What's an amazing X'mas boat parade! I like not only X'mas light decorations from the boats and houses but also the reflection on the water. The selection of the music is fantastic, especially performed by a piano that reminds me of our daughter playing a concerto with the orchestra at the age of 16-17. The presence of you, your lovely wife, and Canoeing The Edge Of The World caught my eye if I am not mistaken. We miss Roy and his humor very much. We somehow missed meeting up with him for the parade. Th view from the kayak and your camera differ, so I finally enjoyed the whole parade without missing out. Thank you for editing this video. Kayak7seas and I are honored to be in it.

Had a blast paddling our kayaks during this event, sorry I didn't know which house was yours otherwise I would've stopped and said hi. Looking forwards to doing it again next year.

I am the one with the animated lights a few hundred feet south of Lake Shepard on the TI side. I did finally get to meet Roy as he came by.

@@SatelliteBeachLive found your house today, I waved at the north facing camera at about 1:30 pm. I've posted my recap of the 2020 boat parade on my channel.

@@Kayak7seas Great video of the boat parade from the kayak PoV. What are you using for a camera?

@@SatelliteBeachLive I used a combination of a Go Pro Hero 9 and and old Samsung S7 Phone. I might have also used a few clips from my Samsung S10 phone.

Awesome show this year. Sitting here in Michigan watching replay. And holy crap @ 40:20! As small boat with polar bear goes by and next boat comes up, look what comes from dock and across in water. At least 7ft long nose gar!

@@SatelliteBeachLive Holy cow.....we have a mysterious creature lurking in the Grand Canal. That looked bigger than a gar (and in saltwater too).

I've been thinking about this "phenomenon" for the past 24 hours and rewatched the video several times trying to determine what that was in the water. At 45:52 you see the same thing in the same spot in the water and you can just make out a manatee's snout. So I deduce (always wanted to use that word) that what you captured on video is a manatee in both instances not a gar or other type of fish. It's the way the light is diffused beneath the darkened water that only shows the very top of the manatee's back and gives it the "snake-like" appearance. If that's not correct then it's a bonafide sea serpent! 😊

@@CanoeingTheEdgeOfTheWorld You both have amazing eyes for detail. It's hard to fine tune the timing of this on TH-cam, so I went back to the video editor and looked at them both. It's possible the first occurrence is actually two smaller fish because it looks like there is a break in the middle of that long thin sea creature, whatever it is...I'll email snapshots to Roy, since I have his email.
