mine just came in and this is the most premium controller ive ever experienced in my entire life
Wonderful review. Barely anything missed. Very comprehensive
Thank you very, very much :)
I'm getting the Apex 4 here soon can't wait!
Awesome very in-depth review for an equally very amazing controller. Great video Shem!
Thank you!
Great video! A tutorial for adaptive triggers would be amazing as i currently see none on yt 😄
just got the Eva edition, absolutely love it.
i have seen pretty much ever Apex 4 video on youtube, and this is without a doubt one of the best reviews of it!
You went into much more detail about the software, the settings both onboard and not, the specs and the overall feel of the controller.
What i would like to have seen in your video is more about how pretty much everything is hall-effect (sticks and triggers) so no drift.
And the mechanisem of the sticks themselves, truly gamechangeing - they have tiny ballbearings inside!
But i get that you didnt want to take it apart to show it.
Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Yes, it's funny I totally forgot to mention the hall sticks. I'd love to take a closer look at the modules at some point!
Amazing review
Thank you so much!
subscribed your reviews are 🔥
Thank you!
Dude wow! what a review! I got mine coming next week and thanks to you I can set it up and feel at ease!! may I share this video on my gaming channel and credit you in? I feel many people in the gaming world need to get this controller and we should spread the word.
Hi! Thanks for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed it. You can feel free to link to the video, but please don't re-upload it.
LOVE this controller.
Me too! Do you have one?
@@RetroBreezeYT Yes, got almost every flydigi controller. My favorite 3rd party brand, mainly because their analog sticks are always good and "smooth". My main thing that I *hate* the most are analog sticks that feel scratchy, squeaky, or where you can sort of 'feel' the mechanism turning underneath; flydigi sticks (so far) have all been super-smooth, and the Apex 4 sticks are the SMOOTHEST sticks yet! Nothing else compares, though in 2nd-place for smooth sticks I'd give it to the stock DualSense controller, those are pretty dang good too (much smoother than stock Xbox sticks). Maybe Sony and Flydigi use better lube for their analog modules, i dunno.
great vid. can the hair trigger be configured similar to a mouse click? like only have to push to 1% to hit a resistance.
Awesome controller. Waiting for my second one the Eva version.
I want to get the EVA version as well! It looks great!
@@RetroBreezeYTYeah looks great. Takes ages to arrive though. If ever arrives:)
I have it it’s great
do you know what kontrolfreeks fit on this controller? i rather playing with a tall stick, preferably domed too
That controller looks like it could go sentient.
I think so too 😁
How was the Flydigi phone mount? Do you recommend it or no?
As a proud Vader 3 Pro user: can't wait for the Vader 4 to drop with all these improvements!
I hope so, but they need to keep the micro switch trigger stops!
I cant fined the website to download the space station app for my apex 4 controller
NVM
How comfortable are the 4 back buttons to press?
Curious your thoughts on the ability to have a pseudo "trigger stop" with the adaptive triggers. I absolutely love the Vader 3's trigger stops with the mechanical switch. If this controller had that it would be perfect, but in your experience, how does the pseudo stop feel?
Great question! Whereas I appreciate the trigger stop feature in the Apex 4 and it does work well, the physical mech switch setup of the Vader 3 Pro is a BILLION times better. Nothing I've tested yet has beaten those Vader 3 triggers for me. They're the best.
Looks like a great controller! Wonder how this stacks up to the KK3 Max. Which camera are you filming with? The footage is so clean and sharp!
Thanks Kei! Been meaning to check out the KK3 Max! I'm glad you like the footage. I'm using a Sony ZV-E10L camera. It's great!
Well definitely a great purchase for your channel. Keep up the awesome reviews!
I've had mine for 2 weeks now. I use it with my PC. Every time I turn it on and boot of Call of Duty, the buttons glitch out for the first couple minutes. It's very frustrating. sometimes my gun just keeps firing without pressing the trigger. Sometimes it presses B over and over without me pressing it. Etc.
I have not found a solution yet. The only thing that sometimes helps is opening up the Space app for the controller, and just letting it run in the background. Then once things settle down, I can quit the app.
The other thing I do not like is the D pad feeling. It's more of a "slide forward/back/left/right" then a down-press click. It's odd, and also very sensitive. Not easy to press repetitively / quickly.
Other than that, the sticks are great, the triggers are pretty great, and the other buttons are good.
Great video, where can we buy the different size thumbsticks from?
AliExpress - they're FlyDigi branded! So far I've only found black caps though unfortunately
How to reset factory? I just updated app and all functions mess
Anyone got a link for taller thumbsticks?
Okay to cut out the rumble packs to save weight it sounds quite heavy
The link for AliExpress for the controller and the dock doesn’t work 😢
bro pls stress test it.. mine broke, the left analog plastic are snaped. Many user have the same problem on reddit
Wish there was a analog deadzone adjustments for mobile
Only thing I would want in the future, is that the middle back buttons were to be moved up to the top of the controller instead, where the bumbers and the triggers and for them to feel like mouse click, like Razer does it. Then it would be perfect.
Yeah I'd love top-mount macros as well!
すごいね!買う😍
Thank you!
Kinda disappointing that this thing doesn't support configuring Shift layers like the Xbox Elite controller can be configured with via the Xbox Accessories app. Macros and stuff are a bit sketchy for multiplayer games, but a shift layer can give you enough extra "buttons" that might be needed in different scenarios.
I hope more companies move to Hall Effect sticks and 4 back buttons with comparable customization (mainly I want the shift layer feature) because the Xbox Elite Series 2 is an RMA disaster.
I got one, and something keeps popping out of the left thumb stick module. I have to keep pushing it back in after almost every game.
Might be worth contacting your seller for a replacement!
@@RetroBreezeYT I bought a new one from Amazon and will be returning the broken one.
at 9:47 you say the triggers are analog, but at 10:17 you say they are not. Do you mean the switch emulator does support it? or the controller simply doesn't have it?
The triggers are analog, but the switch does not support analog trigger inputs, so on switch they act like digital triggers.
Wish the back buttons were better placed, can not seem to leave my middle finger on it because it just slides off whenever i get into some intense gaming. The scuf envision has a slight edge over it IMO but the icue software is terrible compared to spacestation.
Oh wow, I've not heard of the Scuf Envision! I'll need to check it out!
Where do I go to buy the high rise joysticks I can’t find them anywhere?
AliExpress - I'll add a link to the description
this controller actually does work with the PS/Xbox
anyone having issues simply using this controller wired up with warzone on PC? I cant seem to get it to work with just wire, it only works with dongle wirelessly.
That's odd. Have you changed the connection mode to wired?
How does the pc see the controller? As a xbox or ps4 controller?
Either X-input (Xbox) or D-input (direct input)
Has anyone had a problem mapping keyboard keys the the back buttons on the controller or the controller disconnecting frequently when hardwired on pc?
There was a frequent disconnected issue that they fixed with a firmware update- I'd recommend updating asap!
@@RetroBreezeYT I already sent it back. I paid too much money to have an issue like that. I have been through many controllers and never had a wired controller constantly disconnect
I have Samsung s 9 Tablet Android 13 :Soppurt Thais Controller all andriod ???
Yes, absolutely it will work!
I'm playing mw19 and my apex 4 seems to shoot on the slightest touch of the trigger is this normal or do I have an defective one I changed from trigger lock to general mode and both are same
I don't think it would be defective. I'd try factory resetting through the screen or plug it into your PC with the software and adjust the triggers manually
@@RetroBreezeYT I have done all this and it's still the same I tried different games to the slightest touch equals to a full pull of a trigger which is weird because in the flydigi app it works fine in test mode with the number gradually building up to 250 so Im mind blown
@@markdurham68 Is it only happening with that one game? If so it's gotta be a configuration issue within the game itself
@@RetroBreezeYT all games bro I checked on xdefiant last night and it's the exact same both triggers to sensitive
Dualsense edge can be 1000hz pollrate on pc and is 1k wired on ps5
Same number?
I gonna see if I can fit a custom skin onto it
Let me know the results!
@@RetroBreezeYT yup sure thing
I might have to do some DIY Cutouts for its LCD screen
Is the aliexpress one as good as amazon one
Yeah its the same item!
It looks cool but seems redundant to have dualsense features like the triggers without being able to mimic a dualsense or work on a ps5. The gulikit King Kong 3max wins out for me
I hear you, but the benefit is that PC users get a dualsense-like experience!
@@RetroBreezeYT You can get true force feedback and even better actually in supported titles, the motors in the Apex are apparently much stronger, or give more feedback when compared to a dualsense.
I have not tried it tho, only seen it in another review.
How do I pair it to my switch?
Plug it in or Bluetooth. A little individual testing would suit you well.
Just set it to switch mode and it'll pair automatically
My apex 4 stuck in upgrade mod, how to fix bro?
Did you disconnect it during an upgrade or something?
Hold the X and O button till it changes
Did I miss the clicky sounds? Did you put them in?
Shoot, I overlooked that part! Check my Direwolf 2 review- the d-pad there is exactly the same.
What a pretty controller!! I love the clear blue triggers. Shame about that price, though D=
It's a lot of controller for the price though! It does go on sale constantly, so keep an eye on Ali if you're interested!
its not that bad if you get it on Ali, and i think its a steal if you compare it to the Dualsense Edge
Awesome. Way too many settings for me
I understand that for sure 😁
with that gameplay you showed didnt sell the performance and accuracy very well lmao
Good point, thanks for the feedback! I'll show more of that next time!
What this controller is missing is an interjection from Adin Walls.
I agree with that statement
I think its too much overkill in some aspects. I own the Apex 3 and I started to think like that after some time. In the Apex 4 case, the tension adjustment is the first point. It's not user friendly, so unless you are thinking of adjusting them only once, any additional setting will require you to stop playing, remove cover, key and adjust the screw. I saw this feature in a Beitong controller about 1 or 2 years ago but the adjustment could be made on the fly, via some rotating rings on the base of the joysticks. Much more user friendly to me, still the perfect situation would be to be able to adjust these via SW and assign them to the profiles because I can see the point of wanting more tension in certain games like racing, while others its irrelevant or require a different setting. The LEDs continue to be of no use, they are fully covered by your hands. Ye I know this is an esthetic gimmick but if so, then provide it in other areas as well. The screen has some improvements starting with it being in English but I would prefer a screen that could for example align you with the type of game/profile you are using. Screensaver is always the same no matter what. But at least you can configure several stuff now when compared to Apex 3, so some improvement there. And finally off course the adaptive triggers protocol which is a battle they won't win. Add all of that to the $90+ price point its crazy. The tension adjustment on the triggers is probably the best feature this controller has and the Apex did as well. Ye it looks nice, the Apex 3 also still looks awesome but that's it. Just my opinion anyways.
the sticks are gamechangeing, the way you adjust them is the proper way, no gimicks.
As an other reviwer said (and showed) the Apex 4 actually has true trigger feedback just like the dualsense, if not better - it either has stronger motors or amplifies the output.
@@ItsBoyRed I didn't say they were gimmicks but rather not user friendly to set unless you set it once and that's it. It's not game changing since someone already did it. The problem with Beitong they don't target foreign markets and their controllers are very expensive. I remember it was being sold over the price of the Apex 3 at the time. But the tension setting mechanism was much more friendly in my opinion.
@@ToysRForever do some research and see how these sticks work vs normal ones, you'll see.
Amazing concept. But having a phone holder makes it cringe and un-pro.
You can just not use the phone holder? You have to buy it separately anyway
This controller is shit for tekken 8 so don't buy it the D pad is worst
