Doug DeMuro has worked incessantly for over a decade, endured all the: "Doug, the type of guy..." jokes, persisted and did not change. He is authentic and certainly earned a payout. Congatulations!
To me, Doug’s most valuable quality is his communication skills. Makes the complex simple, delivers a meaningful message in the most impactful way. So rare. I could listen to him read the encyclopedia.
Thing I love about shaan. This isn’t his forte, nor does he have really any experience with cars. But he listens, stays quiet, but when he does speak, they are fantastic well thought out questions. Can tell that he loves the game of business regardless of industry.
Doug is such a down to earth guy. I enjoyed his car reviews, his podcasts with Hoovie and now interviews like this where we discover he really is who we thought all along. The extended ending of this video was the icing on the cake. Love it. I grew up modestly on a farm, and retired without financial worries. I still am the same guy I was back then, just experienced a lot more things. It has not changed me, just made me grateful for the opportunity.
I don't really comment much on youtube videos, but I just want to say this has been by far one of my fav videos, from Sam's excitement to the prolonging of the end and even Sean's real-life examples about Doug's video.
I remember him starting this business and saying to myself he will sell it in just a few years for several tens of millions. I was completely right! It just goes to show how valuable a large audience is.
Been watching Doug for years. This is my first time seeing him outside the car review element and he is EXACTLY what you’d expect. Toy car in his cargo pants and all. Happy for his success.
Exactly. Of all the successful YT, I'm delighted - like, reaffirm my faith in humanity level delighted, that is was Doug who made the, literally, 10's of millions outside of YT, but also off the back of it. And his content never diminished during the time he was working hard to get that big pay out. I'm really, really, really happy for him. And you know that probably, in the background, he's doing great things for charity, and helping those less fortunate. He strikes me as just that type of person
Doug DeMuro secrets to success: 1. Overload the viewer with info - lots of info; 2. Get exposure by writing for popular blogs and doing a TH-cam video channel; 3) Do a big deal with Chernin Group (TCG).
This definitely is a DOUG SCORE of 100. Even down to him meeting Seinfeld, who indicated being a fan of his videos. Leaving him speechless. PS I too make minimal stops on long road trips. It's how you trek nearly 1100 miles in little more than 16 hours.
I am not a car guy. I just watched his review of the Acura S. Impressed with the speed of conversation. I thought it was on 1.5 or at least 1.25. It was just Doug normal. Great detailed comprehensive review! Loved it!
Congrats Doug - first discovered his channel a few years ago and was immediately hooked. Love his ranking. Deserves anything he has achieved through hard work.
Thing with Doug is that he's such a nice guy. There's not an ounce of badness in him. So to see - finally - a nice guy make out big time, it just makes me happy. I hope C&Bs goes from strength to strength, doesn't lose its focus, and that Daddy Doug makes $500mm. I'd contribute to pay for a party for Doug is *he* made that money. Just because he's Daddy Doug
Doug, driving cross country, you are the greatest dude ever!!! please always pile into the car, don’t fly private. You made watching this whole video so worth it with those final statements!!!
That's Sam's MO. He does it to try and show that he's the Alpha in the situation by talking down to the person, but says it as a "joke" so it's ok. Doug wears a tshirt and shorts in his videos. It's about as average as a adult man can dress. It's the same concept when he's consistently cutting people off. It comes from a place of insecurity.
I sold my car on cars and bids feb 2022, it was a crazy experience. I’m a skeptical person. My car sold for a high amount and the buyer to me just ok bidding was odd. She won and then I had to talk to her. The first convo was weird, she gave a lot of personal info. After a week I was really nervous, she was scaring me sort of like she was going to fly across country and steal my car and not pay me. Eventually the deal fell through and the they relisted my car with them after a couple weeks and finally sold it legitimately. It was kind of scary for me , I was worried I would “sell” it and someone would take my car and never pay me
First of all, absolutely love Doug. I give him a Doug score of 100. Secondly this makes me think of other weird businesses that get a decent amount of media attention. I would love to see an episode on TraxNYC!!!
Doug will become a billionaire once/if Cars & Bids starts to offer car financing and all of the attendant financial things that go with that. Complete, end-to-end car transactions with a percentage of each step going to the business. Buying, inspecting, shipping and financing. All from the comfort of your laptop., (imagine bundled and collateralized Doug Car Bonds selling on the words' bourses. It's not impossible.) The museum tax hack thing is already done by many car folks. They create a "Museum" and then have to be open to the public a very minimum of time, like maybe once a year or something. They then reap all the the tax write-off benefits of charitable organizations. (I've heard there is a famous Porsche owner in NYC who has an obscure museum for just this reason.)

Barber museum is outstanding, collection is outstanding, sits on a great road track. Well worth the visit. Imagine if Leno did this with his collection? In the end, you can't take it with you. Keeping the collection together, and paying for itself, and getting a huge tax write off, makes sense.
First, Doug, keep doin what you're doin, Loves that content. Also, I believe the business owner with the cars for the people that is being referenced is The Hamilton Collection. I enjoy their content as well.
I love First Million but I might love Doug DeMuro a little better, because of Doug, I decided against buying the Lamborghini Countach. I like how he analyzes the features of the cars from the 70s 80s and 90s. I miss buttons, when I drive I just want to feel the radio, windows etc. I don't want to use a touchscreen
A Doug Demuro x Whistling Diesel crossover will be the crossover to end all crossovers 🔥 “THISSSS is the Monstermax. It is quite possibly the heaviest and most incredibly built off-roader of all time, complete with dual missile fuel tanks and a twin engine Duramax powertrain. You guys should get Dr. Disrespect on! He's a lot like Doug and has done pretty impressive stuff with his new whiskey company and is developing a game that comes out ?this? year. Pretty sure Doc would come on in character as well, it'd be ridiculous blast.
Sad that culture has moved from starting a business to make a better mouse trap or fill a niche to its only purpose is to extract as much money as possible from any situation.
No, I couldn't tell, that's why you were insulting Doug's appearance. That's a joke of course. I'm glad that you interviewed him. Hopefully, Adcock from the eVTOL company will be interviewed. I look forward to Shaan and you every week, Great episode
Such a beautiful thing when someone gets insanely successful by simply being themselves
This comment should win a prize. we need more real people in this world! seriously

Doug the type of guy to enjoy immense financial success by making TH-cam videos that are both educational and entertaining👍
NO WAY. The craziest crossover of my two content worlds ever
😆
Same here😂
same here!
Yep me too
To me, Doug’s most valuable quality is his communication skills. Makes the complex simple, delivers a meaningful message in the most impactful way. So rare. I could listen to him read the encyclopedia.

Been watching Doug since 2013 with his Jalopnik articles and videos. I think it sold me with his Ferrari 360 videos. Very glad to see his success.
I remember him starting this business and saying to myself he will sell it in just a few years for several tens of millions. I was completely right! It just goes to show how valuable a large audience is.
Doug is the type of guy that you see his success and you just have to smile. Seems like a great guy and enjoys what he does.

58:58 @Sam Parr I think you're talking about Steve Hamilton from @The Hamilton Collection which is in Illinois.
Yes!
Such a likeable and modest guy. First time I see him but great person!!
I would watch Doug if he reviewed gas station ice. He is just so watchable.

🔥Doug is the only "used" car saleperson I would trust 💡
Oof Doug’s Jalopnik ties came in at the end when talking about Teslas FSD
Been waiting for this one. Love the car world and Doug definitely pushed me to make my channel into car content!
Doug is the type of guy who made 21 grant in December 2016 in some interviews, and 18 or 20 on other interviews 😂
Have Derek on! I would love to have the story on his “sauna” set up. Also, would love to hear Blippi on the pod. That show has blown up so big.

We love his authenticity and the fact that he reviews cars from our childhoods and way before. It's a nostalgia trip when I watch Doug.
Timing, customer need, passion, hard work, positivity, ten years, your own business. Recipe is simple yet hard. Well deserved.
23:29 Doug's the kind of guy to have a Toyota mega Cruiser toy
Such an awesome chat and Doug is a content goat!
Doug Demuro deserves to be a Shark on Shark Tank!
I am not a car guy. I just watched his review of the Acura S. Impressed with the speed of conversation. I thought it was on 1.5 or at least 1.25. It was just Doug normal. Great detailed comprehensive review! Loved it!
I emailed Doug to see if he'd like to review my GMC Syclone. Considering the amount of emails he receives, I was surprised how quickly he responded.
Dressing poor and driving a nice car is such a flex. He’s not in it for the image. He truly loves the cars.
Congrats Doug - first discovered his channel a few years ago and was immediately hooked. Love his ranking. Deserves anything he has achieved through hard work.

Been watching Doug since his Ferrari 360 days. Top chap.

Sam’s headphone wires being stuck on his arm bugged me through this whole video. Hahaha. Enjoyed the content, tho. :)

Great episode. I've been watching Doug for years. It's cool to see and hear a different side of him. Keep it up
Doug shouting out Whistlin Diesel is so great. So we’ll deserved too. Calling him the Mr. Beast of the car world hits on the head
Doug is humble and I hope he stays so.
started watching doug WAY back when his blue viper was the primary video focus

Not better than full self driving 1:03:00 it’s actually amazing off the freeway. Doug needs to get his finger on the pulse here
Bring a trailer sounds like an RV website. Cars And Bids is more simple and clear.
Great episode guys
Forget minivans, Sprinter Van is the way to go.
I remember Doug describing himself in third person after every article on Jalopnik, I think he had some AMG wagon haha
"...talking to people in the pool..." should be a movie
