Not gonna lie, I actually find this ending of Voldo truly noble! Yeah, he's safeguarding the sword for the sake of his master from thieves and adventurers, but he's also prevented another apocalypse from happening! Hats off to my boy!
Not so much corrupted, but it's very well possible Voldo fulfilled his mission. Voldo's entire purpose is to safeguard his master's treasury; and Soul Edge was one piece of the collection his master wanted badly. So much so; his ghost (Or Voldo's tortured mind's depiction of) directs Voldo to hunt down and claim Soul Edge to add to his collection. This ending is entirely Voldo placing Soul edge in a safe place. Where he will remain ever silently vigil, protecting the blade from thieves who'd dare take from his master's treasury. Had Soul Edge corrupted Voldo; Voldo would become the new vessel and Soul Edge would turn into weapons befit Voldo's skills.
