I hate the word "whiny". It's an old school game with old school if it ain't broke, don't fix it type rules. I understand that technology has taken over every aspect of everything we do now a days, but as these things are introduced into things like sports where any little advantage can and will be exploited to someone's advantage, you can't blame people for raising an eyebrow. He didn’t have that great of season let’s be honest here Eli had up and season with a lot of strikeouts there back in June early July he was doing great then fell off . He definitely had a lot strike outs
I actually thought this. If he put something dense there, like a stack of gold coins, he could maybe improve the handling of the bat by redistributing the weight to be more like a sword in that the balance point would end up just ahead of his hands. also F=ma and he'd be adding mass, so there's that too.
MLB needs players like this. Follow the rules, play your game, and throw in a little swagger while you're at it. Let these guys enjoy the game. The fans love it!
As a nationals fan, Davey SUX. the fact he was the world series winning coach was not due to his team leadership and he should have never been put in the roll. For the first 2 years he was coaching he looked lost out there. And now hes just a big baby.

It acts like a counterweight beyond the pivot point exactly like the oversized pommel stop on roman gladius, celtic persian short swords which influenced nordic designs.
That thing probably weighs a few grams at best. I found a similar one on Amazon and the entire package weight is 0.02 kg so I’m guessing the product itself weighs maybe 0.018 kg max. Historically, baseball bats have weighed between 0.96 to 1.04 kg I highly doubt that 10-20 grams is going to make a difference in the slightest. When talking about swords, the pommel end weighed like 50% of the blade, or around 1/3rd the entire weight of the whole sword. For the sake of easy math, a 2.2 lb sword is about 1 kg. 1/3rd of 2.2 lbs is 0.733 lbs, or roughly 0.3326 kg… You’d have to have like 12 of those things on there to even get to like 1/4th the total weight of the bat. Like mathematically, his gloves probably weigh more and do more for the mechanics of the swing than that rubber nub does… quick google says one glove is roughly 0.1 kg, so a pair would be 0.2 kg, so like 10x as much as the knob cover. The math ain’t mathin’

I mean it sounds like he was asked about it in a press conference, so he had no choice but to address it
I blame our 1 star sports reporters for this one
I hate the word "whiny". It's an old school game with old school if it ain't broke, don't fix it type rules. I understand that technology has taken over every aspect of everything we do now a days, but as these things are introduced into things like sports where any little advantage can and will be exploited to someone's advantage, you can't blame people for raising an eyebrow. Specially when were talking about ONE player using this thing out of 2 teams worth of batters
@@kennethmeek-ff4mh because dave martinez is legitimately whiny. he complains about every aspect of opposing players having fun. i'm tired of these managers that sit in their press conferences and complain about bat flips and taunts. it's a competitive game of high emotions, and that's marketable now in a day and age where that's accepted. get over it.
@@kennethmeek-ff4mhwe should be using tech to get an advantage. Just as long as it's available to everyone else, like NASCAR. Gives the best experience imo and the best chance for the sport's continued survival

I actually thought this. If he put something dense there, like a stack of gold coins, he could maybe improve the handling of the bat by redistributing the weight to be more like a sword in that the balance point would end up just ahead of his hands. also F=ma and he'd be adding mass, so there's that too.

Historically, baseball bats have weighed between 0.96 to 1.04 kg
I highly doubt that 10-20 grams is going to make a difference in the slightest. When talking about swords, the pommel end weighed like 50% of the blade, or around 1/3rd the entire weight of the whole sword.
For the sake of easy math, a 2.2 lb sword is about 1 kg. 1/3rd of 2.2 lbs is 0.733 lbs, or roughly 0.3326 kg…
You’d have to have like 12 of those things on there to even get to like 1/4th the total weight of the bat.
Like mathematically, his gloves probably weigh more and do more for the mechanics of the swing than that rubber nub does… quick google says one glove is roughly 0.1 kg, so a pair would be 0.2 kg, so like 10x as much as the knob cover.
The math ain’t mathin’

What were they supposed to do? Rules are the rules and they had to figure out whether it had a sensor or not and even then it's liekly that the rules aren't entirely clear enough in the wording whether the entire thing is illegal or the sensor alone. The baseball player is just incredibly petty
@@vornamenachname594 More than likely, the Nationals manager made multiple complaints. Was probably told it was okay after the first complaint, but decided to challenge it and refuse to resume play until it was removed. So the umps had it removed while they confirmed with the league.
