Rick Martel was such a great character as The Model. He definitely pulled it off and is so underrated. His match with Razor Ramon for the IC title was one of his and Razors best matches and is also underrated!

Martel 1987: My partner abandoned me. Zenk is a loser.
Martel 1989: I abandoned my partner. Tito is a loser.

Martel is arguably the most underrated Champion ever.

He should have turned face at summerslam 1992 against HBK.

The Brain Buster spiked pile driver finisher they did on Tito Santana was brutal, yet perfectly executed.

The Mania 5 match with the Brain Busters was great, a fantastic way to change Martel heel

It was, especially with Rick sticking around in case Tito was able to get them the win, it's what it looked like anyway, but was outta there once Tito got in trouble and tried to tag.

The arrogant tone of his voice was perfect. As a kid I imitated his character. Calling everyone “Jealous “

This would have been better if Strike Force had faced off with The Twin Towers. It would have made more sense with Slick being his manager. Arn even said the match with Strike Force was a throwaway match and he didn't like he and Tully just being used to further an angle.

Or Rick Martel joining the Heenan Family instead of joining Slick.

Was Connie gay back then? Who LOVED Martel as anybody let alone as the 'Model'? That character was for the girls.

Who outside of Minneapolis/St.Paul was a fan of Martel's babyface. I think that's why he wanted to turn Heel.

Rick needed a manager. He was an outstanding wrestler but a horrible speaker.

I think Rick Martel started as heel in Puerto Rico in the late 70s, as he came right after his brother Michel's sudden death. Michel and Pierre (Frenchy Martin) Martel were the top heels in Puerto Rico in the 70s and feuded with the Invaders around that time, and the Capitol Sports Promotions bookers used Michel's real life passing for a revenge angle against the Invaders.

Rick Martel was a very robust, dependable, heel. His French-Canadian accent added to the fans' believability of his character being a bad guy -- particularly during the Golden Age of the WWE.

The model character was perfect for a man like him. Jo Jo Dillan came up with idea from the stories told.

Martel doesn't care nor want to be. He is one of the very few smart men that ever wrestled. He went into real estate making big bucks
