I love how you present your recipes. Not only do you show each step thoroughly, you give many hints, such as why the oil for frying the pork has to be a certain temperature. All your efforts are greatly appreciated. Regards from Australia.
Thanks for watching and liking my videos. I always do my best to make sure my audiences can make my recipes easily. Hope you give it try when you are free
In fact, this little lady has really reached the stage of cooking enlightenment already that's why she's so fluent in explanation like the blowing of the wind. 👍👍👍
i hope they give her a show on the food network or public television. She never talks down to U. The sound of her voice gives you confidence! My first dish is chicken fried rice. My ex wife loves ham fried rice! We are still friends and i want to surprise her when i finally perfect my skill! I my effort has been good. But i know that I can get better!
My dad loves this recipe. I cook, he eats. Wouldn't have it any other way. It makes me happy when he loves the food I cook. Thank you for the recipe and making my daddy happy. He's 88 years old and I want him to enjoy his life.
I made the sweet-and-sour pork for dinner tonight. I just could not waste the pineapple juice so I used it to replace the water. I added half the sugar to the recipe. I wanted a few more vegetables so I chopped up some snow, peas. What an amazing dinner.
I have just made this for my family and I have to say, it is the closest to our local Chinese restaurant's Cantonese style pork! You're instructions were so concise and I thank you!
I grew up watching wok with Chan in the early 90's which inspired me to cook Asian Cuisine. And now I found you and it re-inspired me to practice some old dishes that I haven't work with in a long time. Thank you
I feel like several Asian countries have their own variations of this dish. They are all delicious, but this Chinese version is by far the best in my opinion!
I made this today and i have to admit it is beyond good! I had my doubts on the pork cooking through in the short time but I need not have worried, it was cooked beautifully. This will be my go to recipe for Pork sweet & sour. The pork is also really crispy and remained so till the end (ie when the pork finished at dinner). Awesome! Thanks
I love this recipe better than the others I've tried before. The sweet sour sauce is just perfect, not too sour. I've added chopped onions (big chunks) up to my liking and no regrets. Thanks for uploading this simple but delicious recipe. I've made this recipe with chicken breasts and they taste great too.
You Got Moves girl! I tried this recipe and it was a big hit! Everyone loved it and the sauce was the best I ever made. Thank You. I will be sure to keep watching this channel. Bravo!
tonight is the second time i used this recipe and i doubled it because everyone loves it! there's only a tiny bit left so no one will have seconds. thank you a lot for the recipe for a new family favorite. i'm subscribed and watching for your other recipes.
I just tried this and it tastes amazing. I didn't have any pork on hand so I used carrots, pepper, zuchini, pineapple and spring onion. It worked out great! Maybe I'll go out and buy the plum sauce soon, but even without it, it's so tasty! Thank you so much for the recipe!
I made this recipe this week-end. You have such an excellent way of explaining every step. I was amazed at how beautiful and delicious my dish turned out! I could not stop eating it! Thank you so much!!
I'm just telling you this is one of the nicest people on the internet on TH-cam. Both included she is so sweet and so nice and explains everything so well and her recipes are simple but Exquisite she could work at my restaurant anytime
I've never been one for sweet and sour but I thought I'd give this a go. I used chicken instead of pork and I have to say it was beautiful. One of the nicest meals I've had in a long while. Thank you so much, you are a pleasure to watch and inspire me to get in the kitchen and have a go :)
I am making this tonight for my mom and myself, and because of you and your beautiful videos, I have finally purchased a wok so I can cook more from your videos. There’s no reason for me to get Chinese takeout any more. I’m making it at home. Now I need to learn to make pork fried rice.
I made this for the first time and absolutely loved it! My g/f and I agreed it’s the best we’ve ever tried. By far better than takeout. Thank you so much for this wonderful recipe and I can’t wait to try more from your videos.
Dear Lady, congratulations, not only are you instructive , an excellent cook but more importantly you have changed the perception for a lot of Western people have of the Chinese people. I have seen this by the growing number of subscribers you have, and the warm comments,. I lived in and taught in Qiqihar for 6 years and know how hospitable and generous the Chinese people are once you accept culture for what it is, and are not judgemental, by the way I am a subscriber xixi.
Thanks for watching my videos which is a support for me- encouraged me to keep making more videos. That is why this channel is growing so fast.I am glad that so many people like me and watch me. Thank you!
My neighbors just flipped right out when i made a batch of your recipe -- followed all your instructions carefully and it was just perfect! Thanks so much for your great recipes and it's just a great pleasure to watch you cook!
I have now cooked your recipe twice; using chicken breast instead of pork. It was really, really delicious both times! I love your recipes and the way you teach so clearly. I am planning to have a couple of friends over to enjoy this for dinner. It truly is better than take out. Keep up the great work! Thank you!!!
Hi! I've just made this. The best Sweet and Sour Pork recipe ever! I mean ever! Very tender and crunchy at the same time! The sauce is the bomb! Thank you for posting the recipe!
This is the third recipe of yours I have tried and every one of them have been delicious! I also traded in my Teflon coated wok for a carbon steel one and followed your “seasoning” instructions before I used it. What a difference in cooking! Thank you so much and keep the goodness coming!
Tried this tonight and I have to say it was absolutely wonderful. Couldn't find the plum sauce anywhere so had to use a mango sauce, was delicious if I do say so myself. Wonderful directions and easy to follow.
Greetings from Vancouver BC! Thank you for sharing your recipes, I am no cook but I am certainly saving money preparing meals at home. And more importantly, my very picky wife is actually enjoying the food I cook. Your simple ingredients saved me lots of time too at the grocery store. You’re doing a great job! 👍
my first attempt at cooking sweet and sour pork and i decided to go with this recipe. i am so happy i did because it turned out perfect and the taste is so delicious! 👌💯 thank you for sharing.
Hello from South Africa. Thank you so much, this is the best sweet and sour pork ever. Your instructions were fantastic. Just a note, I didn't have the plum sauce so I used south african chutney instead, and it worked a treat! Thank you again!
Just cooked this tonight... The whole family loved it! It tasted just like from a Chinese restaurant, the flavor was amazing. Also the vibrant colors from the glaze, pineapple, and bell peppers gave it quite the WOW factor. One tip for those that are health conscious or want to make this in half the time... Just sautee the pork and skip the whole deep frying process. I made half deep fried and half sauteed, and although the deep frying added a little more crunch, the flavor is in the glaze so both tasted delicious.
Thank you for the great videos! I've been watching and learning so much with them. I love how you do each step in detail and share the ingredients. So far i've made the sweet and sour pork and the chicken and broccoli. I look forward to watching and learning more! Its nice to know how to cook it yourself. I don't always have the money to eat out and this way I can still have the food I love!
I tried your ingredients the plum sauce is the bomb and my family go crazy about it🥰they’re stop order s&s from Panda cause now I can make our own sweet and sour at home thank you for sharing your recipe love it so much 🥰👏👏👍👍
Made this today per the recipe except I substituted a tablespoon of Korean Gochujang for the plum sauce since I had none. Since I was adding a little heat with the Gochujang sauce I also tossed in a teaspoon of Chinese red pepper flakes. Man it turned out good. Very tasty! Thanks Mandy!
my family really loved it...oh my God the meat is so tender...and the balance between the sourness and sweetness is really amazing i'm gonna cook this again for sure...
I did this one. After I initially made the sauce it had a distinct "vinegary" smell to it and, at the time, I thought, "Oh.. this may go badly..." I kept pushing through, though. It was really good at the end. Plenty of food for a few days (it's just me) and the sauce was great (not vinegary). Many thanks for the recipe/instructions/video.
Made this exactly as described and it came out perfect. I was worried the sauce was a bit salty, but when mixed with everything else it was just the right amount because the breading and the vegetables don’t have any added salt. The only other added sodium is in the pork at the beginning. Can’t believe an waited this long to try it. Thanks.
" hi everyone, welcome to souped up recipes." I love watching all of your recipes you make them look so easy. I can watch them for hours I can't wait to start purchasing all of the ingredients and make some of your recipes I am learning so much I have confidence when I go to the Asian market that I can actually pronounce some of the words, LOL
I first made this with pork as the recipe suggests, which was really good, but tonight I made this recipe with shrimp. I skipped the baking soda since the shrimp are delicate and don't need the tenderizing step, cut the marinade time to just an hour and added some onion chunks and carrot rounds to the bell pepper and pineapple. Let me tell you the result was SO good. This sweet and sour sauce is just what you expect from a good Chinese restaurant (don't skip the plum sauce). I served mine with some homemade Lo mein and stir fry veggies and a few homemade Crab Rangoon that I made and froze a few months ago and popped into the convection oven to heat. Sorry Chinese take out! I'm making it fresh at home! Thanks!
In China, we have a saying: 色香味俱全。 means a good dish show contains the great smell, amazing taste and beautiful looking. I will do my best to get close to that stander. Haha, thank you for your compliment=)
My wife and daughters kept on telling me that this was the best Sweet & Sour pork that they ever tasted. Better than Chinese restaurants. Like what you said, they couldn't stop eating the dish 👍. Thank you very much for sharing this recipe and most importantly, your kind coaching and guidance in preparing the dish 🙏 more power to you. All the best 😊
This was excellent. I only coat the meat once as it takes ages. It tastes noticeably better when you use fresh pork instead of frozen. I tried it with both on separate occasions.
I just made this for dinner tonight and it was definitely better than take out. It was amazing!!! Thank you for sharing your recipes, you explain everything so well and so easy to follow. Look forward to future videos.
I made this dish. For anyone who needs this and is worried about the clumping of corn starch(that's what happened to me lol) make a cornstarch slurry and then add it to the pan :) Very delicious recipe and not too sweet.
We have made this several times now and its a really nice recipe. The only thing we do differently is that we replace half of the flour with corn starch and we only single dip the pork before frying it, this makes the coating thinner and the taste of the pork shines through more.
I just made this…. My first time ever frying oil! Lol. And it was fantastic! My husband said this is the best meal I’ve made him in ten years of marriage! Haha. Thanks so much for your video. You are clear, concise and easy to follow. I can’t wait to try more of your receipts! Thanks again from Perth, Western Australia! Xxx
@Anna What a nice compliment from your husband! Have you made more of Souped Up Recipes' meals? Mandy is the best! As you said, clear, concise, easy-to-follow.
I have used your recipes for inspiration to make a keto chinese food variation through some modification. I have to pre-cook my pork in garlic ginger and water until tender, because I use whey protein powder/VWG/Lupin flour for coating which browns faster than raw pork cooks. I use a homemade keto ketchup & sweetener for the sauce and more veggies than pinneapple. Love love love sweet and sour pork. I am here today to also use your chow mein to inspire a keto version using soybean low carb spaghetti noodles.
I just wanted to tell you, I made your recipe yesterday, my husband was in love! He ate so much! and he kept complementing the dish! He sword it tasted like I ordered out!! So I really want to thank you!! I've tried your egg rolls too, we love them. So thanks again. Please keep sharing.
@@victoriablakely3140 i tried the chicken fried rice, but i used a wee bit more cooking oil than i should have but besides that was just like take out! Not her fault it was mine but next time next week i will watch the oil! She is the best than the ones on television!
I agree with this gal about the plum sauce. It does provide an extra dimension of flavor to this dish and can be used for basting pork roast or chicken.
Sorry to double dip, but I made this dish tonight and it was AMAZING !!!! You're the best teacher ! I prepped the pork 24 hours in marinade, and started cooking at dinner time. It took an hour or so to complete. Well worth the wait, which isn't that long to begin with !
That was a mistake, I am so sorry. Please understand baking soda and baking powder are not the same thing, for this recipe, you need baking soda no baking powder. Hope you enjoy=)
I just made a slurry with the pineapple juice , and cornstarch, and added it to the sauce. It was awesome. Better than any restaurant that I have tried.
I made the Sweet & Sour Pork dish last night. I followed your directions closely, and it turned out amazing. My family and I loved it! Thank you so much for all these delicious recipes! I can't wait to try the next one. ❤️
I love how you present your recipes. Not only do you show each step thoroughly, you give many hints, such as why the oil for frying the pork has to be a certain temperature. All your efforts are greatly appreciated. Regards from Australia.

So what happened at 6:33 then? We need to know!
foodgasm!
😂😂😂
Too hot?
I made your sweet & sour pork recipe for more than 20 people and they loved it. Thank you so much!! I really enjoy your recipes and videos :)
I think you need to just move in with me and be my personal chef. All your food turns out beautiful.
I made it tonight for my family and they all loved it! Thank you for the best instructions ever!
Now that's what I'm talking about. My sweet and sour pork has to have pineapple or I don't want it.
Sorry to double dip, but I made this dish tonight and it was AMAZING !!!! You're the best teacher ! I prepped the pork 24 hours in marinade, and started cooking at dinner time. It took an hour or so to complete. Well worth the wait, which isn't that long to begin with !
First you said baking soda, and then you said baking powder. Which is it?
That was a mistake, I am so sorry. Please understand baking soda and baking powder are not the same thing, for this recipe, you need baking soda no baking powder.
Hope you enjoy=)
Thank you. I will try it
Welll...i didn't pay attention at all and used corn starch 😂😂😂
Michelle Lopez 😂😂😂 you're killing me
Sylvia Collins good you picked it up
Thank you so much, my husband and I love this recipe. We love all of your recipes. Thank you again so much.
Has anyone else tried replacing the water with pineapple juice?
It will be more sweet and juicy
Yes. I tried it and turned out delicious
Yes i always use pineapple juice
I use pineapple juice instead of water too.
I just made a slurry with the pineapple juice , and cornstarch, and added it to the sauce. It was awesome. Better than any restaurant that I have tried.
