Been listening to Tolbert for years. Great communicator and always entertaining. Unfortunate he is going. KNBR blew it.

KNBR has been dying a slow death for years. I dont listen except for clips on Spotify but I can't imagine Steve Young or Brent Jones are going to come on anymore. Steve Kerr too. Tom should start a podcast.

I remember litening to Tolbert as a guest host with Radnich and then teaming up with Ralph Barbieri. I remember how it took a while for Ralph to get used to Tom's boisterous ways in the early days but came around to and learned to embrace and appreciate it.

Gonna really miss Tolbert interviewing Steve Young. Always felt like 2 real dudes just having a natural conversation.

Well said…. We have been FORTUNATE to have that rare insight regularly week in and week out during Football season to soak in all the knowledge Steve Young had to offer … the connection Tom and Steve had made it an ideal situation for the listeners to understand the game at another level and see the view point of one of the toughest positions in all of sports…I had no idea that Tom was out and it bummed me out … Congrats and good luck with your future endeavors but I will surely miss these two talking Football…

I have been recording the Steve Young show since 2007. It's a wealth of wisdom.

I think Brock is a great leader, even his teammates say he is too hard on himself which is good because we are not playing like we were last year. A goat in the making! 💪🏼🐐

Ya maybe he'll get more vocal to his teammates in the coming years but as for now like you said most of his teammates have faith in him abused of his hard work and leadership.

The veterans like Deebo, Kittle, Auike ETC......they trust and respect Brock, even when Purdy was a rookie they trusted him back then. Brock is very talented.

Yes we do Steve Young is the Man. His Super Bowl victory was iconic how a team should be firing on ALL CYLINDERS... EPIC. 📰 🏈

A lot of people claimed that Brock Purdy carried the offense which he mostly did and that was one of his best games ever, but I like to think that CMC also made a difference even though his numbers didn't really show it He's so good that his presence on the field can be a huge factor, it reminds me when back in 2012 when the 49ers signed Randy Moss for one year, and Randy Moss only had a handful of catches and he only scored three touchdowns but with his presence on the field the defense paid more attention to him and that left Michael Crabtree more wide open and Michael Crabtree was on fire that year his numbers were very impressive and it was his best season he ever had and it had a lot to do with Randy Moss be on the opposite side... Now it's a 49ers can have another player that put numbers like Brandon A did last year then I think the 49ers maybe have a shot of winning the NFC West which is going to be so hard to do but right now they control their destiny... Especially in the 49ers it's end up being more healthy

The conversations between Tolbert and Young, Jones, Kerr, etc. were a big reason I tuned into KNBR. It definitely made the commute home more tolerable as well.

I first started listening to knbr after the Owens catch vs the packers way back when. Tolbert was been the mainstay for a long long time, and this is the end of an era

The hosts that drew me to listen to KNBR are now mostly gone and it's really sad. When I started listening it was Murph and Mack in the morning then you had Gary radnich after that you had Fitz and Brooks and then the razor and Mr T if I'm not mistaken that's the order it went in

Man if steve young was born late in the 2000s and in his prime he wouldve taken us to a super bowl and brock would never be drafted or does get drafted to be a backup

Steve Young is the absolute guru of all things 49er. I’ve often thought that he must have had a great rapport with Tolbert to grant him that access.

Tragic. Shouldn’t be a hard decision. John Lung and Tolbert and Pauline Mac. Only guys left Papa, Murph. No disrespect to the others but KNBR fall from grace. 👎 Get these guys all TH-cam channels and keep the Steve Young conversations going.

I probably sound like a broken record but what more do you want from Brock when pass pro is atrocious and Kyle is deliberately calling bad plays specifically in the red zone shaving points for Vegas. Kyle didn’t just forget to call good games after years of success. It’s pretty much the same weapons from last year but horrible plays in the red zone. No playaction in the red zone and horrible offensive line coverage leaving free rushers consistently. And also doesn’t let Brock change plays on the line. Yup definitely throwing games or shaving points.
Yes Brock is not perfect but I rather him miss some throws than force turnovers with the way Kyle is calling games.
Also Mason balled out and was the best RB in the beginning of the season. Now back in the shelf.
Evan Anderson balls out? Yeah let’s limit his playing time and get another old vet. Kyle can’t be more deliberate with his decisions, it’s so obvious. Is he following a script?
The way he’s calling games this year, and the way he gave away lat years SB with his overtime decision and all the “blown leads” he might just be a master at fixing outcomes for Vegas or the NFL. Therefore he executed the Taylor swift script to perfection.

Why would Steve Young talk about this team problems. Jake Moody over Robbie Gould. 🤣 but as a Dual-threat quarterback Steve Young knows Brock can't handle or become a game changer player. This is why he said we will have more losses. Steve should've step up for Trey Lance. He went to Patrick Mohomes quarterback coach for help. You right there Steve. It's hard for this offense to complete a 3rd down. Steve seen this games. A #262 pick over a #3 over all. That's crazy. Favoritism for self glory not God Glory. Nobody try to help Trey Lance.. now Brock Purdy isn't Mr Relevant. He's not leading this team like Steve Young. But Brian Grease has to go. Fire Brian Grease. Just like Alex Smith. Steve Young remember Alex Smith with us. Alex Smith Jimmy garoppolo now Brock Purdy. This team only average 13.5 points only in the first half of every game for 4 1/2 years. We drafted Trey Lance to fix our 3rd downs plays. But Steve Young never helped 😢
