    Just planning on a rice lager tomorrow (on my Braumeister too!). I’m impressed with your processes - looks really solid. I pressure ferment and then keg, but seems your final product is clearer than mine. All the best 👍

      Cheers for that. Yeah, it took me a lot of trial and error to get a system and process that works for me. Fairly happy with most of it now.

    I like you videos, very good instruction hoi share. Question: Do you use Irish mosh or a equivalent?

      Yes, I use a half Whirlflock tablet at 15 minutes from the end of boil.
      I sometimes remember to film it going in, but I generally forget....

      I get asked that a bit.... 😁
      It is easier, mostly, but it doesn't quite work for us. I brew a lot of beer, at least types of beer, if not huge quantity.
      At any one time we will have between 10 - 20 types of beer available to choose from.
      20 kegs is a big kegerator to run. Plus if we don't run a beer out of one of the lines for a couple of weeks, then it's going to be stale and need run through, that's a lot of wasted beer over the life of 20 kegs. Not to mention how many times I'd need to remove the lines for cleaning if the beer sits there for 12 months.....
      And on that note, I brew a number of darker and especially stronger beers that benefit from aging. We're talking 12 months plus here. Keg seals are not great for extended storage, and I've lost a few batches due to seals leaking and the beer getting oxidized.
      This all means that washing bottles all the time is still the best option for me........

    Very nice and thanks for sharing. I've been planning a few lagers brewed with rice. What brand and model of your all-in-one system? I'm wondering as it looked like it had a ton of dead space on the side.

      Thanks for that. I'm finding more uses for rice in brewing than I originally thought I would. I'm sure you'll enjoy it when you get round to your brews.
      I'm brewing on a Braumeister 20 litre. If you're talking about the dead space around the malt pipe, it does look large. The malt pipe couldn't be much larger though, as the heating element is wrapped around the outside, and it's fairly close to the malt pipe edges. I can get about 6kg of malt in there, which limits me slightly if I want to do something like an imperial porter. On those brews I need to get a little inventive to get the higher gravities....

      @@brewandbuild 13 lbs (6 KG) isn't too shabby, as that is plenty for most brews. I brew on an Anvil Foundry, which has a fair amount of dead space in comparison to something like a GrainFather, but I prefer it as I used to own two GrainFathers and sold them to move to my two Anvil Foundries. Braumeisters are very expensive in the U.S. and probably in your area too as they seem to be really high quality.
      I'm considering a few brews with rice. One with straight (pre-gelatinized) and another with liquid brown rice syrup.

      @@BitterRealityBrewing I like the look of the Anvil gear, it seems well thought out. It's not a brand we have available over here, but then you're incredibly lucky in the States to have so many home-brewing brands that put out quality equipment, at a price that's affordable. We're limited on range, and even then, it's all expensive.
      I love the Braumeister though. It's expensive, but I decided it was worth the extra, to get the German engineering quality.
      I'll be watching to see how you get on with the pre-gelatinized rice. I struggled doing it on an all-in one system, because I couldn't work out the water volume existing in the rice. It would be no issue on a three vessel system, where you get you're attaining your final volume through sparging.
      Brown rice syrup didn't cross my mind, but now you've got me looking into it and wondering how I could use it.......

      I've been waiting for that question, and I'm surprised it has taken this long before someone asked.
      The main reason really is that we ideally like to have 15-20 beers in stock, so that we don't feel like we're drinking the same thing all the time. It's a bit like having the range of a decent small taproom.
      That many beers would be a big kegerator, and probably a lot of beer going stale in lines all the time.
      The other reason is that i give a lot of beer out to people for critical assessment to help me refine my brewing practices. I find the best way to give someone a good bottle, is to package it that way to begin with.
      One day I intend to put on a small kegerator to seasonally rotate our regular drinks, but for the moment, I just have to accept the extra washing...

    Good morning the pump body of the braumeister spiedel is made of brass or stainless steel. If it's made of brass can it be toxic over time? Thank you.

      Good question, I'm not sure if it's harmful. I don't believe so, as most plumbing fittings are made of copper or brass, and we are all drinking water from them. I doubt there is an issue, but I cannot be sure.
      The pump body is stainless, and the front section is brass.

    im using a paint mixer with the drill at high speed when adding grain ,,,no balls what so ever

      With the size mash I'm doing, the paddle does it ok. On any bigger grain bill, your method sounds easier. 👍
