Thanks for this. I know it's a LOT of work. A few things I would mention: White balance isn't really about having white whites since white doesn't contain much if any color information. If there's any color in your whites, you're doing something really wrong. And, avoid using any old thing you happen to have around that's white. White copy paper & certain synthetic fabrics for example have additives in them that may throw off a camera's perception of what is supposed to be a neutral grey value. An official grey card reference is always best but in the absence of a neutral reference, for post color correction, I've found certain white or gray paints, white or grey cotton, & asphalt to be pretty neutral.

I am fascinated with the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Cameras but find that they take too much time to rig up and have downfalls like hot pixels that need to be refreshed every few days and the clock forgetting itself (though this also seems to be a problem on REDs. They seem great for structured sets that require 0% run and gun. I like to shoot incognito and handheld a lot since I can't usually afford sets or permits; the blackmagic would attract unwanted attention since I'd need to attach a tripod or gimbal. Hey I’ve been looking into the Black Magic 6k and should I definitely consider getting a CFast 2.0 card ? Not a fan of SSDs and the wires. I’ve seen black magics approved list but reviews from all over say different things about being able to handle 3:1 - 50 fps, etc. Would there be dropped frames when recording 6k 3:1 24 fps and let’s say 6k 5:1/8:1 50 fps with a quality cfast 2.0 card ?
Great video and very helpfull! Thanks. I will start to shoot with my Black Magic 6k. I just have one question. How can I delete files directly from the bm? I just cannot figure out how!
Love your channel, so helpful. Having issues with noisy video recording indoors on Blackmagic Ursa Broadcast G2 and using gain/ISO. Any tips or videos would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
@@FrameVoyager I was in a hotel ballroom and I used lights but still had video noise. Increased gain/iso to 10db and I even in increased my shutter angle from 180 to 360. Just hoping to see if there was anything else I could have done without increased iso 400. Thanks
hi, just started learning a few basic filmaking and videography courses that i bought. photography and video is my hobby, but i want to get into wedding and some short films or documentry. i have ef- mount lenses.should i consider buying the pocket cinema 6k? do you recomend it?
When powering on the camera with a custom power source, Black Magic recommends removing the battery first? What constitutes a custom power source? Supplying 12VDC to the DC input should make no difference to the camera. I'm wondering why would it make a difference if the 12V was supplied by an external battery pack rather than the supplied AC adapter? Do you have a source for this recommendation?
OK, I'll answer my own question, at least partially. There is a note in the BlackMagic manual which refers to custom power solutions with a dummy battery, and the need to be careful not to supply too much voltage. This is fair enough. The note then later recommends removing the internal battery when using a custom made power source. If you are using a solution with a dummy battery as mentioned earlier, this point is moot as obviously the internal battery must be removed to use a dummy battery. The question remains though, if you are supplying 12V to the 12V input, you are doing the same thing as using BM's AC power adapter, and they don't recommend removing the internal battery for that. 12Volts is 12 Volts, so I wonder what the difference is.
Great VIDEO! My wife bought me for early Christmas - 6kpro with sigma f1.8 18-35 (I like sports filming). I have NO IDEA what i am doing. Im sooo NOOB. so this video really helped a lot !!! LOL. Question, what setting would you use to capture sport video where i can go into studio and make an awesome slow-mo final video?
@@Burritosarebetterthantacos yeah,... my wife asked her videographer what he would get next and she went and got it thinking I would figure it out.. the more video I see, the more im like.. @#)(_$$........LOL
Sweet! Hope this helped! The best thing to do would be to film in HFR mode. I'm trying to remember what you get 120fps at but you can get that. So HFR will convert the high frame rates to your project frame rate. --> check this video out here --th-cam.com/video/ix5tX6FEOjQ/w-d-xo.html
I’m having problems with my bmpcc 6k pro built in audio. I’m not using external mics at the moment and there is no sound on my video. Is there any settings to troubleshoot this issue?
If you check in the audio setting you'll have to switch it over to using internal mics for it to work. You should start to see movement on the audio meters when you switch it over

When my My BMPCC 6K PRO does not have the battery inside and it has the power cable or another power source connected, the led is a color like narjan. It is normal?
For a masterclass, it would’ve been great to see a quick screen for each recording media where you lost EXACTLY what frame rates/codecs work for that media. You mention SD cards but don’t show me what I can actually record to them. Also, I think you also missed a white balance feature. Can’t you just hold the button down for a few seconds and have the camera evaluate the scene (no box or white card in frame) automatically?
for sure! Hard to always know what to put in these videos as you can go down so many rabbit holes but yeah, missed on those couple of things. I might cover those again at some point

Thanks
Thanks! Oh, interesting. What ISO levels are you using?
@@FrameVoyager I was in a hotel ballroom and I used lights but still had video noise. Increased gain/iso to 10db and I even in increased my shutter angle from 180 to 360. Just hoping to see if there was anything else I could have done without increased iso 400. Thanks
Very interesting! I don't even have a BMPCC.
Thanks!
No problem! And thank you for the super thanks!
Great video man, looking to the pull the plug on a BMPCC6k soon. So for a starters setup will a ssd samsung t5 be good with a small rig?
hi, just started learning a few basic filmaking and videography courses that i bought. photography and video is my hobby, but i want to get into wedding and some short films or documentry. i have ef- mount lenses.should i consider buying the pocket cinema 6k? do you recomend it?
Are we to assume this applies to BMPCC6K as well? As far as I know, the sensor hasn't changed.
Yes
Great VIDEO! My wife bought me for early Christmas - 6kpro with sigma f1.8 18-35 (I like sports filming). I have NO IDEA what i am doing. Im sooo NOOB. so this video really helped a lot !!! LOL. Question, what setting would you use to capture sport video where i can go into studio and make an awesome slow-mo final video?
You have sooooooo much homework todo😂. Look up Philip Bloom.
@@Burritosarebetterthantacos yeah,... my wife asked her videographer what he would get next and she went and got it thinking I would figure it out.. the more video I see, the more im like.. @#)(_$$........LOL
@@dankim5885 There are “rules” that dictate settings and composition. Learn those and you will be great.👍

You should start to see movement on the audio meters when you switch it over
thanks soo much
You're welcome!
Hi! Thanks a lot for all the information. Fantastic video! Can you tell me if the new Angelbird AV PRO CFexpress SE Type B 512 G will work with BMPCC 6K Pro? I am a little confused about all the types os this cards, specially form factor. This is a new card from angelbird and the price is very very good. Thanks once again.
Hmmm... It might work on it? I know that BMD has a list of approved devices for it! But I'd assume that it should be enough to work.
Didn’t find the Horisontal ‘secret society’ video??
thanks, salute medelllin colombia
Appreciate it!
Great test! I just did a Blackmagic test too. Would love your feedback!

@@FrameVoyager No worries, thanks for the reply and the video :)

When my My BMPCC 6K PRO does not have the battery inside and it has the power cable or another power source connected, the led is a color like narjan. It is normal?
Great video. Please no more non sequiturs. Thanks.

Yes, the red focus assist lines are showing up in the clip, on playback, how do I remove them?
They will show up on playback if you still have them set to on for the screen. So just go turn it off in the settings section if that makes sense
Anyone can tell me how to lock the recording button on the screen, coz sometimes i stop the recording by mistake
The only way I can think to do that is to swipe up on the screen to hide everything. Not sure there is a lock
@@FrameVoyager thx a lot, yes i think the only way is to swipe up

dude how do i get the video to my fucking computer
From the camera?
For a masterclass, it would’ve been great to see a quick screen for each recording media where you lost EXACTLY what frame rates/codecs work for that media. You mention SD cards but don’t show me what I can actually record to them.
Also, I think you also missed a white balance feature. Can’t you just hold the button down for a few seconds and have the camera evaluate the scene (no box or white card in frame) automatically?
for sure! Hard to always know what to put in these videos as you can go down so many rabbit holes but yeah, missed on those couple of things. I might cover those again at some point
